YK-50-1Yuddha Kanda 50.1

अथोवाचमहातेजाहरिराजोमहाबलः । किमियंव्यथितासेनामूढवातेवनौर्जले ।।6.50.1।।

athovācamahātejāharirājomahābalḥ | kimiyṃvyathitāsenāmūḍhavātevanaurjale ||6.50.1||

Translation

अथ and now, महातेजाः extremely brilliant, महाबलः mighty, हरिराजः king of monkeys, वाच words, इयंसेना the army, जले by water, मूढवातेव tossed by wind, नौःइव like the boat, किम् why, व्यथिता worrying.

Meaning

Extremely brilliant and mighty Sugriva looking at the army of Vanaras said, "Why are you worried like a boat tossed by wind in water?"

YK-50-2-3Yuddha Kanda 50.2–3 (युग्मम्)

सुग्रीवस्यवचश्श्रुत्वावालिपुत्रोऽङ्गदोऽब्रवीत् । नत्वंपश्यसिरामंचलक्ष्मणंचमहारथम् ।।6.50.2।। शरजालचितौवीरावुभौदशरथात्मजौ । शरतल्पेमहात्मानौशयानौरुधिरोक्षितौ ।।6.50.3।।

sugrīvasyavacaśśrutvāvāliputro'ṅgado'bravīt | natvṃpaśyasirāmṃcalakṣmaṇṃcamahāratham ||6.50.2|| śarajālacitauvīrāvubhaudaśarathātmajau | śaratalpemahātmānauśayānaurudhirokṣitau ||6.50.3||

Translation

सुग्रीवस्य Sugriva's, वचः words, श्रुत्वा hearing, वालिपुत्रः Vali's son, अङ्गदः Angada, अब्रवीत् spoke, शरजालचितौ network of arrows, रुधिरोक्षितौ bathed in blood, शरतल्पे on a bed of arrows, शयानौ lying, महात्मानौ great souls, दशरथात्मजौ Dasaratha's sons, रामम् Rama, महारथम् chariot warrior, लक्ष्मणंच Lakshmana also, त्वम् you, नपश्यसि do you not see.

Meaning

On hearing Sugriva's question, Angada the son of Vali said, "Did you not see Dasaratha's sons Rama and chariot warrior Lakshmana, the great souls lying on a bed of arrows bathed in blood?"

YK-50-4Yuddha Kanda 50.4

अथाब्रवीद्वानरेन्द्रस्सुग्रीवःपुत्रमङ्गदम् । नानिमित्तमिदंमन्येभवितव्यंभयेनतु ।।6.50.4।।

athābravīdvānarendrassugrīvḥputramaṅgadam | nānimittamidṃmanyebhavitavyṃbhayenatu ||6.50.4||

Translation

अथ now, वानरेन्द्र Vanara king, सुग्रीवः Sugriva, पुत्रम् son, अङ्गदम् Angada, अब्रवीत् said, इदम् this, अनिमित्तम् without any reason, नमन्ये not think, भयेन out of fear, भवितव्यम् some reason ahead.

Meaning

Then Vanara king Sugriva looking at Angada said, "I do not think that the Vanaras running like this is not without any cause. Maybe out of fear of some reason ahead."

YK-50-5Yuddha Kanda 50.5

विषण्णवदनाह्येतेत्यक्तप्रहरणादिशः । प्रपलायन्तिहरयस्त्रासादुत्फुल्ललोचनाः ।।6.50.5।।

viṣaṇṇavadanāhyetetyaktapraharaṇādiśḥ | prapalāyantiharayastrāsādutphullalocanāḥ ||6.50.5||

Translation

अत्र in this place, एते their, हरयः Vanaras, त्रासात् distressed, उत्फुल्ललोचनाः downcast their eyes, त्यक्तप्रहरणाः abandoning arms, विषण्णवदनाः sad face, दिशः directions, प्रपलायन्ति fleeing.

Meaning

"Here, the distressed Vanaras with sad faces, their eyes downcast, are fleeing in all directions abandoning their arms."

YK-50-6Yuddha Kanda 50.6

अन्योन्यस्यनलज्जन्तेनिरीक्षन्तिपृष्ठतः । विप्रकर्षन्तिचान्योन्यंपतितंलङ्घयन्तिच ।।6.50.6।।

anyonyasyanalajjantenirīkṣantipṛṣṭhatḥ | viprakarṣanticānyonyṃpatitṃlaṅghayantica ||6.50.6||

Translation

अन्योन्यस्य one to the other, नलज्जन्ते not shy to see others, पृष्ठतः the other side, ननिरीक्षन्ति not waiting to look back at others, अन्योन्यम् one another, विप्रकर्षन्ति distancing, पतितम् fallen, लङ्घयन्तिच and fleeing.

Meaning

"Without waiting to look back at others, not shy to see one another, the Vanaras are distancing themselves from those fallen and are seen fleeing."

YK-50-7Yuddha Kanda 50.7

एतस्मिन्नन्तरेवीरोगदापाणिर्विभीषणः । सुग्रीवंवर्धयामासराघवंचनिरैक्षत ।।6.50.7।।

etasminnantarevīrogadāpāṇirvibhīṣaṇḥ | sugrīvṃvardhayāmāsarāghavṃcaniraikṣata ||6.50.7||

Translation

एतस्मिन् in the mean, अन्तरे while, गदापाणिः holding mace, वीरः hero, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, सुग्रीवम् Sugriva, विभीषणंच to Vibheeshana, राघवंच Raghava, निरैक्षत seeing, वर्धयामास cheered with victory.

Meaning

In the meantime, heroic Vibheeshana holding mace came to Sugriva and Rama and cheered with victory.

YK-50-8Yuddha Kanda 50.8

विभीषणंचसुग्रीवोदृष्टवावानरभीषणम् । ऋक्षराजंमहात्मानंसमीपस्थमुवाचह ।।6.50.8।।

vibhīṣaṇṃcasugrīvodṛṣṭavāvānarabhīṣaṇam | ṛkṣarājṃmahātmānṃsamīpasthamuvācaha ||6.50.8||

Translation

सुग्रीवः Sugriva, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, वानरभीषणम् Vanaras beholding Vibheeshana, दृष्टवा beholding, समीपस्थम् stood near, महात्मानम् great, ऋक्षराजम् king of Bears, Jambavan, उवाचह spoke.

Meaning

Beholding Vibheeshana, the Vanaras fled, said Sugriva to the great Jambavan who stood near him.

YK-50-9Yuddha Kanda 50.9

विभीषणोऽयंसम्प्राप्तोयंदृष्टवावानरर्षभाः । विद्रवन्तिपरितत्रसरावणात्मजशङ्कया ।।6.50.9।।

vibhīṣaṇo'yṃsamprāptoyṃdṛṣṭavāvānararṣabhāḥ | vidravantiparitatrasarāvaṇātmajaśaṅkayā ||6.50.9||

Translation

अयम् this, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, सम्प्राप्तः having come here, यम् , दृष्टवा beholding, वानरर्षभाः foremost Vanaras, रावणात्मशङ्काया thinking him to be Ravana's son, विद्रवन्ति suspecting, परित्रस्त fleeing.

Meaning

"Vibheeshana has come here. Beholding him the foremost of the Vanaras fleeing suspecting him to be the son of Ravana."

YK-50-10Yuddha Kanda 50.10

शीघ्रमेतान् सुसन्त्रस्तान्बहुधाविप्रधावितान् । पर्यवस्थापयाख्याहिविभीषणमुपस्थितम् ।।6.50.10।।

śīghrametān susantrastānbahudhāvipradhāvitān | paryavasthāpayākhyāhivibhīṣaṇamupasthitam ||6.50.10||

Translation

सुसन्त्रस्तान् fearing, बहुधा many directions, विप्रधावितान् fleeing, एतान् all of them, शीघ्रम् quickly, पर्यवस्था running, उपस्थितम् has come here, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, आख्याहि call them.

Meaning

"Call them back who are running in different directions quickly. Tell them Vibheeshana has come here."

YK-50-11Yuddha Kanda 50.11

सुग्रीवेणैवमुक्तस्तुजाम्बवानृक्षपार्थिवः । वानरान्सान्त्वयामाससन्निरुध्यप्रधानतः ।।6.50.11।।

sugrīveṇaivamuktastujāmbavānṛkṣapārthivḥ | vānarānsāntvayāmāsasannirudhyapradhānatḥ ||6.50.11||

Translation

सुग्रीवेण Sugriva, एवम् in that way, उक्तः having said, ऋक्षपार्थिवः king of Bears, जाम्बवान् Jambavan, प्रधानतः chief, वानरान् of Vanaras, निरुध्य restored, सान्त्वयामास confidence.

Meaning

Sugriva having spoken in that way, the king of Bears, Jambavan restored the confidence of Vanaras.

YK-50-12Yuddha Kanda 50.12

तेनिवृत्ताःपुनःसर्वेवानरास्त्यक्तसम्भ्रमाः । ऋक्षराजवचश्श्रुत्वातंचदृष्टवाविभीषणम् ।।6.50.12।।

tenivṛttāḥpunḥsarvevānarāstyaktasambhramāḥ | ṛkṣarājavacaśśrutvātṃcadṛṣṭavāvibhīṣaṇam ||6.50.12||

Translation

सर्वे all, तेवानराः the Vanaras, ऋक्षराजवचः Jambavan's words, श्रुत्वा having heard, तम् their, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, दृष्टवा beholding, त्यक्तसम्भ्रमाः finally shed their fear, पुनः again, विवृत्ताः returned.

Meaning

Having heard Jambavan, all the Vanaras finally shed their fear and returned to see Vibheeshana.

YK-50-13Yuddha Kanda 50.13

विभीषणस्तुरामस्यदृष्टवागात्रंशरैश्चितम् । लक्ष्मणस्यचधर्मात्माबभूवव्यथितस्तदा ।।6.50.13।।

vibhīṣaṇasturāmasyadṛṣṭavāgātrṃśaraiścitam | lakṣmaṇasyacadharmātmābabhūvavyathitastadā ||6.50.13||

Translation

धर्मात्मा righteous, विभीषणस्तु Vibheeshana also, शरैः arrows, चितम् mind, रामस्य Rama's, गात्रम् limbs, लक्ष्मणस्यच and Lakshmana's, दृष्टवा observing, तदा then, व्यथितः grievous, बभूव remained.

Meaning

On seeing the body of Rama and Lakshmana fully covered by arrows, Vibheeshana also became piteous and sad.

YK-50-14Yuddha Kanda 50.14

जलक्लिन्नेनहस्तेनतयोर्नेत्रेप्रमृज्यच । शोकसम्पीडितमनारुरोदविललापच ।।6.50.14।।

jalaklinnenahastenatayornetrepramṛjyaca | śokasampīḍitamanārurodavilalāpaca ||6.50.14||

Translation

जलक्लिन्नेन with water, हस्तेन in hand, तयोः their, नेत्रे eyes, प्रमृज्यच cleaned, शोकसम्पीडितमनाः tormented with pain, रुरोद aloud, विललापच cried.

Meaning

Vibheeshana, wetting his hands with water cleaned the eyes of Rama and Lakshmana. Tormented with pain he cried aloud.

YK-50-15Yuddha Kanda 50.15

इमौतौसत्त्वसम्पन्नौविक्रान्तौप्रियसम्युगौ । इमामवस्थांगमितौराक्षसैःकूटयोधिभिः ।।6.50.15।।

imautausattvasampannauvikrāntaupriyasamyugau | imāmavasthāṃgamitaurākṣasaiḥkūṭayodhibhiḥ ||6.50.15||

Translation

सत्त्वसम्पन्नौ endowed with good nature, विक्रान्तौ powerful, प्रियसम्युगौ fond of combat, तौ both, इमौ thus, कूटयोधिभिः deceitful, राक्षसैः Rakshasas, इमाम् like this, अवस्थाम् predicament, गमितौ reduced to.

Meaning

"Both the princess, who are endowed with good nature, and power are fond of combat. The Rakshasas have reduced them to this state by their deceitful ways."

YK-50-16Yuddha Kanda 50.16

भ्रातुःपुत्रेणमेतेनदुष्पुत्रेणदुरात्मना । राक्षस्याजिह्मयाबुध्याचालितावृजुविक्रमौ ।।6.50.16।।

bhrātuḥputreṇametenaduṣputreṇadurātmanā | rākṣasyājihmayābudhyācālitāvṛjuvikramau ||6.50.16||

Translation

ऋजुविक्रमौ guileless in prowess, दुष्पुत्रेण stupid son, दुरात्मना evil minded, एतेन by him, भ्रातृपुत्रेण brother's son, राक्षस्या Rakshasa's, जिह्मया crooked, बुध्या mind, चालिता cheated.

Meaning

"The princess who were guileless in their prowess were cheated by my evil minded and stupid son of my brother by his crooked thinking and cheating."

YK-50-17Yuddha Kanda 50.17

शरैरिमावलंविद्धौरुधिरेणसमुक्षितौ । वसुधायामिमौसुप्तौदृश्येतेशल्यकाविव ।।6.50.17।।

śarairimāvalṃviddhaurudhireṇasamukṣitau | vasudhāyāmimausuptaudṛśyeteśalyakāviva ||6.50.17||

Translation

शरैः arrows, अलम् body, विद्धौ fully, रुधिरेण with blood, समुक्षितौ pierced with, वसुधायाम् on the ground, सुप्तौ sleeping, इमौ these two (Rama and Lakshmana), शल्यकाविव like a porcupine, दृश्येते appears.

Meaning

"Pierced with arrows, fully covered with blood, the bodies of the two princes appear like porcupines sleeping on the ground."

YK-50-18Yuddha Kanda 50.18

ययोर्वीर्यमुपाश्रित्यप्रतिष्ठाकाङ्क्षितामया । तावुभौदेहनाशायप्रसुप्तौपुरुषर्षभौ ।।6.50.18।।

yayorvīryamupāśrityapratiṣṭhākāṅkṣitāmayā | tāvubhaudehanāśāyaprasuptaupuruṣarṣabhau ||6.50.18||

Translation

मया by me, ययोः whose, वीर्यम् valour, आश्रित्य sought refuge, प्रतिष्ठा of great fame, काङ्क्षिता limbs broken, ता these, उभौ both, पुरुषर्षभौ bull among men, देहनाशाय wounded all over the body, प्रसुप्तौ lying asleep.

Meaning

"These two bulls among men of great valour and fame whose refuge was sought by me are lying asleep wounded all over and limbs broken."

YK-50-19Yuddha Kanda 50.19

जीवन्नद्यविपन्नोऽस्मिनष्टराज्यमनोरथः । प्राप्तप्रतिज्ञश्चरिपुःसकामोरावणःकृतः ।।6.50.19।।

jīvannadyavipanno'sminaṣṭarājyamanorathḥ | prāptapratijñaścaripuḥsakāmorāvaṇḥkṛtḥ ||6.50.19||

Translation

नष्टराज्यमनोरथः having lost kingdom, जीवन्नद्यअद्य life ambition, विपन्नः frustrated, अस्मि I am, रिपुः enemy, रावणः Ravana, प्राप्तप्रतिज्ञः having succeeded in his vow, सकामश्च this deed, कृतः did.

Meaning

"Having lost my life ambition for the kingdom, frustrated I am. My enemy Ravana, having succeeded in his vow, did this deed."

YK-50-20Yuddha Kanda 50.20

एवंविलपमानंतंपरिष्वज्यविभीषणम् । सुग्रीवःसत्त्वसम्पन्नोहरिराजोऽब्रवीदिदम् ।।6.50.20।।

evṃvilapamānṃtṃpariṣvajyavibhīṣaṇam | sugrīvḥsattvasampannoharirājo'bravīdidam ||6.50.20||

Translation

एवम् in that way, विलपमानम् lamenting in despair, तंविभीषणम् that Vibheeshana, परिष्वज्य embracing, सत्त्वसम्पन्नः endowed with good qualities, हरिराजः king of monkeys, सुग्रीवः Sugriva, इदम् thus, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Meaning

To Vibheeshana who was lamenting in that way, Sugriva, who was endowed with good qualities embraced him and spoke.

YK-50-21Yuddha Kanda 50.21

राज्यंप्राप्स्यसिधर्मज्ञ लङ्कायांनात्रसंशयः । रावणस्सहपुत्रेणस्वकामंनेहलप्स्यते ।।6.50.21।।

rājyṃprāpsyasidharmajña laṅkāyāṃnātrasṃśayḥ | rāvaṇassahaputreṇasvakāmṃnehalapsyate ||6.50.21||

Translation

धर्मज्ञ righteous, लङ्कायाम् in Lanka, राज्यम् kingdom, प्राप्स्यसि having got, अत्र and now, संशयः doubt, न no, रावणः Ravana, सहपुत्रेण with his sons, स्वकामम् of their desire, इह now, नलप्स्यते not attain.

Meaning

"O righteous one! there is no doubt that you will attain the kingdom of Lanka. Ravana and his sons will not attain what they desire."

YK-50-22Yuddha Kanda 50.22

नरुजापीडितावेतावुभौराघवलक्ष्मणौ । त्यक्त्वामोहंवधिष्येतेसगणंरावणंरणे ।।6.50.22।।

narujāpīḍitāvetāvubhaurāghavalakṣmaṇau | tyaktvāmohṃvadhiṣyetesagaṇṃrāvaṇṃraṇe ||6.50.22||

Translation

एतौ these, उभौ both, राघवलक्ष्मणौ Raghava and Lakshmana, रुजा wounded, पीडितौ pained, न not, मोहम् unconscious state त्यक्त्वा shaken off, रणे in war, सगणम् his own army, रावणम् Ravana, वधिष्येते killed.

Meaning

"Both these heroes Raghava and Lakshmana wounded and pained having shaken off from their unconscious state will kill Ravana and his army in war."

YK-50-23Yuddha Kanda 50.23

तमेवंसान्त्वयित्वातुसमाश्वास्यचराक्षसम् । सुषेणंश्वशुरंपार्श्वेसुग्रीवस्तमुवाचह ।।6.50.23।।

tamevṃsāntvayitvātusamāśvāsyacarākṣasam | suṣeṇṃśvaśurṃpārśvesugrīvastamuvācaha ||6.50.23||

Translation

सुग्रीवः Sugriva, तंराक्षसम् that Rakshasa, एवम् in that manner, सान्त्वयित्वा consoling, समाश्वास्य pacifying, पार्श्वे at, श्वशुरम् uncle, तंसुषेणम् Sushena, उवाच spoke.

Meaning

Thus, consoling and pacifying, the Rakshasa, Vibheeshana in that manner, Sugriva turned to his uncle Sushena and spoke.

YK-50-24Yuddha Kanda 50.24

सहशूरैर्हरिगणैर्लब्धसंज्ञावरिन्दमौ । गच्छत्वंभ्रातरंगृह्यकिष्किन्धांरामलक्ष्मणौ ।।6.50.24।।

sahaśūrairharigaṇairlabdhasṃjñāvarindamau | gacchatvṃbhrātarṃgṛhyakiṣkindhāṃrāmalakṣmaṇau ||6.50.24||

Translation

शूरैः heroes हरिगणैः monkey army, त्वम् them, लब्दसंज्ञौ on regaining consciousness, अरिन्दमौ tamers of their enemies, भ्रातरौ brothers, रामलक्ष्मणौ Rama and Lakshmana, गृह्य taking, किष्किन्धाम् to Kishkinda, गच्छ proceed.

Meaning

"On regaining consciousness, take the brothers Rama and Lakshmana, the tamers of enemies to Kishkinda accompanied by the heroic monkey army."

YK-50-25Yuddha Kanda 50.25

अहंतुरावणंहत्वासपुत्रंसहबान्धवम् । मैथिलीमानयिष्यामिशक्रोनष्टामिवश्रियम् ।।6.50.25।।

ahṃturāvaṇṃhatvāsaputrṃsahabāndhavam | maithilīmānayiṣyāmiśakronaṣṭāmivaśriyam ||6.50.25||

Translation

अहंतु I also, सपुत्रम् his sons, सहबान्दवम् with the kin, रावणम् Ravana, हत्वा having killed, शक्रः Indra, नष्टाम् loss, श्रियमिव prosperity, मैथिलीम् Mythili also, आनयिष्यामि will bring.

Meaning

"On killing Ravana and his sons along with his kin, I will on my part also bring Mythili just as Indra recovered his prosperity."

YK-50-26Yuddha Kanda 50.26

श्रुत्वैतद्वानरेन्द्रस्यसुषेणोवाक्यमब्रवीत् । दैवासुरंमहद्युद्धमनुभूतंसुदारुणम् ।।6.50.26।।

śrutvaitadvānarendrasyasuṣeṇovākyamabravīt | daivāsurṃmahadyuddhamanubhūtṃsudāruṇam ||6.50.26||

Translation

वानरेन्द्रस्य Vanara Lord, एतत् वाक्यम् these words, श्रुत्वा hearing, सुषेणः Sushena, अब्रवीत् spoke, दैवासुरम् Devatas and Asuras, सुदारुणम् fierce, महत् great, युद्धम् in war, अनुभूतम् experienced.

Meaning

Hearing the words of Vanara Lord, Sushena spoke about the fierce and great war that he had experienced between Devas and asuras.

YK-50-27Yuddha Kanda 50.27

तदास्मदानवाशरसम्स्पर्शकोविदाः । निजघ्नुश्शस्त्रविदुषश्चादयन्तोमुहुर्मुहुः ।।6.50.27।।

tadāsmadānavāśarasamsparśakovidāḥ | nijaghnuśśastraviduṣaścādayantomuhurmuhuḥ ||6.50.27||

Translation

तदा then, शरसम्स्पर्शकोविदाः adept in using arms, दानवाः Rakshasa, शस्त्रविदुषः learned in using arms, देवान् Devatas, मुहुर्मुहुः again and again, छादयन्तः concealing by tricks, निजघ्नुः went about agitated.

Meaning

"Then the Rakshasas adept in using arms went about agitating concealing themselves, attacking Devatas who were learned in using arms."

YK-50-28Yuddha Kanda 50.28

तानार्तान्नष्टसंज्ञांश्चगतासूंश्चबृहस्पतिः । विद्याभिर्मन्त्रयुक्ताभिरोषधीभिश्चिकित्सति ।।6.50.28।।

tānārtānnaṣṭasṃjñāṃścagatāsūṃścabṛhaspatiḥ | vidyābhirmantrayuktābhiroṣadhībhiścikitsati ||6.50.28||

Translation

बृहस्पतिः Brhaspati the sage, आर्तान् restored the affected, नष्टसंज्ञान् wounded and life less, गतासूंश्च lost consciousness, तान् them, मन्त्रयुक्ताभिः by means of mantras, विद्याभिः recitation of prayers, रोषधीभिः herbs, चिकित्सति treatment.

Meaning

"Brhaspati, the priest restored the wounded and lifeless, unconscious by means of reciting mantras, prayers and treatment by herbs."

YK-50-29Yuddha Kanda 50.29

तान्यौषधान्यानयितुंक्षीरोदंयान्तुसागरम् । जवेनवानराःशीघ्रंसम्पातिपनसादयः ।।6.50.29।।

tānyauṣadhānyānayituṃkṣīrodṃyāntusāgaram | javenavānarāḥśīghrṃsampātipanasādayḥ ||6.50.29||

Translation

औषधानि herbal medicines, आनयितुम् secured, सम्पातिपनसादयः Sampati and Panasa, वानराः Vanara, जवेन swift phase, शीघ्रम् quickly, क्षीरोदम् milky ocean, सागरम् ocean, यान्तु to get.

Meaning

"Let Sampati and Panasa go quickly to the milky ocean in a swift phase to get those medicines."

YK-50-30Yuddha Kanda 50.30

हरयस्तुविजानन्तिपार्वतीस्तामहौषधीः । सञ्जीवकरणींदिव्यांविशल्यांदेवनिर्मिताम् ।।6.50.30।।

harayastuvijānantipārvatīstāmahauṣadhīḥ | sañjīvakaraṇīṃdivyāṃviśalyāṃdevanirmitām ||6.50.30||

Translation

हरयः monkeys, पार्वतीः mountains, ताःमहौषधीः that supreme medicine, दिव्याम् wonderful, सञ्जीवकरणीम् Sanjeevakarani, देवनिर्मिताम् for the cause of Devatas विशल्याम् Visalyakarani, विजा s नन्ति known to Brahma.

Meaning

"Those monkeys only know the supreme medicine available in the mountains. They have to get Sanjeevakarani and Visalyakarani known to Brahma."

YK-50-31Yuddha Kanda 50.31

चन्द्रश्चनामद्रोणश्चक्षीरोदेसागरोत्तमे । अमृतंयत्रमथितंतत्रतेपरमौषधी ।।6.50.31।।

candraścanāmadroṇaścakṣīrodesāgarottame | amṛtṃyatramathitṃtatrateparamauṣadhī ||6.50.31||

Translation

यत्र there, अमृतम् nectar of immortality, मथितम् was churned, सागरोत्तमे foremost of oceans, क्षीरोदे milky ocean, चन्द्रश्च Chandra's, द्रोणश्च Drona's, ते they, परमौषधी supreme medicine, तत्र present.

Meaning

"There, where the milky ocean, the foremost of oceans, was churned, two mountains have risen by the name Chandra and Drona. The supreme herbs of medicine are present there."

YK-50-32Yuddha Kanda 50.32

तौतत्रविहितेदेवैःपर्वतौमहोदधौ । अयंवायुसुतोराजन् हनूमांस्तत्रगच्छतु ।।6.50.32।।

tautatravihitedevaiḥparvataumahodadhau | ayṃvāyusutorājan hanūmāṃstatragacchatu ||6.50.32||

Translation

तौ both, तौपर्वतौ mountains, तत्र there, महोदधौ well known, देवैः Deities, विहितौ kept, राजन् o King, वायुसुतः son of wind God, अयम् let go, हनुमान् Hanuman, तत्र there, गच्छतु proceed.

Meaning

"Both the mountains are well known. Deities have kept the herbal medicine there. Let the son of wind god, Hanuman proceed."

YK-50-33Yuddha Kanda 50.33

एतस्मिन्नन्तरेवायुर्मेगांश्चापिसविद्युतः । पर्यस्यसागरेतोयंकम्पयननिवमेदिनीम् ।।6.50.33।।

etasminnantarevāyurmegāṃścāpisavidyutḥ | paryasyasāgaretoyṃkampayananivamedinīm ||6.50.33||

Translation

एतस्मिन् in the meanwhile, अन्तरे middle, सविद्युतः wind also, मेघांश्चापि clouds also, सागरे ocean, तोयम् water, पर्यस्यन् scattered about, वायुः by the wind, मेदिनीम् in the sky, कम्पयननिव started shaking.

Meaning

In the mean while winds blew, clouds also rose up, water in the ocean was scattered about by the wind and lightning appeared in the sky.

YK-50-34Yuddha Kanda 50.34

महतापक्षवातेनसर्ववदीपमहाद्रुमाः । निपेतुर्भग्नविटपाःसलिलेलवणाम्भसि ।।6.50.34।।

mahatāpakṣavātenasarvavadīpamahādrumāḥ | nipeturbhagnaviṭapāḥsalilelavaṇāmbhasi ||6.50.34||

Translation

सर्ववदीपमहाद्रुमाः all the trees of the island, महता huge, पक्षवातेन by the flutter of the wings wind, भग्नविटपाः broken, लवणाम्भसि salt water of the ocean, सलिले water, निपेतुः entered.

Meaning

All the huge trees of the island were broken by the flutter of the wings (of Garuda) and fell into the salt water of the ocean.

YK-50-35Yuddha Kanda 50.35

अभवन् पन्नगास्त्रस्ताभोगिनस्तत्रवासिनः । शीघ्रंसर्वाणियादांसिजग्मुश्चलवणार्णवम् ।।6.50.35।।

abhavan pannagāstrastābhoginastatravāsinḥ | śīghrṃsarvāṇiyādāṃsijagmuścalavaṇārṇavam ||6.50.35||

Translation

पन्नगाः serpents, त्रस्ताः frightened, अभवन् in fear, तत्र there, वासिनः inhabiting, भोगिनः sea monsters, सर्वाणि all of them, यादांसि crawled, शीघ्रम् quickly, लवणार्णवम् into the salty ocean, जग्मुः went.

Meaning

All the serpents and sea monsters inhabiting there terrified at Garuda went quickly into the salty waters of the ocean.

YK-50-36Yuddha Kanda 50.36

ततोमुहूर्तार्गरुडंवैनतेयंमहाबलम् । वानराददृशुःसर्वेज्वलन्तमिवपावकम् ।।6.50.36।।

tatomuhūrtārgaruḍṃvainateyṃmahābalam | vānarādadṛśuḥsarvejvalantamivapāvakam ||6.50.36||

Translation

ततः then, सर्वे all, वानराः Vanaras, मुहूर्तात् instantly, ज्वलन्तम् blazing like, पावकम् इव like fire, वैनतेयम् son of Vinatha, महाबलम् of mighty prowess, गरुडम् Garuda, ददृशुः perceived.

Meaning

Then all the Vanaras perceived Garuda endowed with mighty prowess, the son of Vinatha blazing like fire.

YK-50-37Yuddha Kanda 50.37

तमागतमभिप्रेक्ष्यनागास्तेसम्प्रदुद्रुवुः । यैस्तौसत्पुरुषौबद्धौशरभूतैर्महाबलौ ।।6.50.37।।

tamāgatamabhiprekṣyanāgāstesampradudruvuḥ | yaistausatpuruṣaubaddhauśarabhūtairmahābalau ||6.50.37||

Translation

शरभूतैः in the form of arrows, महाबलौ mighty, यैः those, तौ both, सत्परुषौ noble, बद्धौ bound, ते those, नागाः serpents, आगतम् seeing, तम् they, प्रेक्ष्य seeing, सम्प्रदुद्रुवुः fled.

Meaning

Seeing the noble Rama and Lakshmana bound by the serpents in the form of arrows (released by Indrajith), the serpents fled.

YK-50-38Yuddha Kanda 50.38

ततस्सुपर्णःकाकुत्स्थौस्पृष्टवाप्रत्यभिनदनितः । विममर्शचपाणिभ्यांमुखेचन्द्रसमप्रभे ।।6.50.38।।

tatassuparṇḥkākutsthauspṛṣṭavāpratyabhinadanitḥ | vimamarśacapāṇibhyāṃmukhecandrasamaprabhe ||6.50.38||

Translation

ततः thereafter, सुपर्णः Garuda, काकुत्स्थौ at Kakuthsas, Rama and Lakshmana, स्पृष्टवा touching, प्रत्यभिनन्द्यच paying respect, पाणिभ्याम् both feet, चन्द्रसमप्रख्ये like moon, मुखे face, विममर्शच wiped.

Meaning

Thereafter Garuda paying his respects to the noble Rama and Lakshmana, touching their feet, wiped their face which shone like the moon.

YK-50-39Yuddha Kanda 50.39

वैनतेयेनसम्स्पृष्टास्तयोःसम्रुरुहुर्व्रणाः । सुवर्णेचतनूस्निग्धेतयोराशुबभूवतुः ।।6.50.39।।

vainateyenasamspṛṣṭāstayoḥsamruruhurvraṇāḥ | suvarṇecatanūsnigdhetayorāśubabhūvatuḥ ||6.50.39||

Translation

वैनतेयेन by Garuda, सम्सृष्टाः caressed, तयोः both of their, व्रणाः wounds, सम्रुरुहुः cleared, आशु instantly, तयोः both, तनू bodies, सुवर्णेच like gold, स्निग्धे bright, बभूवतुः turned.

Meaning

Caressed by Garuda, both their bodies were cleared of wounds instantly shone like gold and turned bright.

YK-50-40Yuddha Kanda 50.40

तेजोवीर्यंबलंचौजउत्साहश्चमहागुणाः । प्रदर्शनंचबुद्धिश्चस्मृतिश्चद्विगुणंतयोः ।।6.50.40।।

tejovīryṃbalṃcaujautsāhaścamahāguṇāḥ | pradarśanṃcabuddhiścasmṛtiścadviguṇṃtayoḥ ||6.50.40||

Translation

तयोः their, तेजः brilliance, वीर्यम् prowess, उत्साहश्च daring courage, महागुणाः great qualities, प्रदर्शनम् manifested, बुद्धिश्च intelligence, स्मृतिश्च memory, द्विगुणम् redoubled.

Meaning

Their brilliance, prowess, daring courage, intelligence, memory, and great qualities got manifested many folds.

YK-50-41Yuddha Kanda 50.41

तावुत्थाप्यमहातेजागरुडोवासवोपमौ । उभौतौसस्वजेहृष्टोरामश्चैनमुवाचह ।।6.50.41।।

tāvutthāpyamahātejāgaruḍovāsavopamau | ubhautausasvajehṛṣṭorāmaścainamuvācaha ||6.50.41||

Translation

महातेजाः extraordinary brilliance, गरुडः Garuda, वासनोपमौ equal to Indra, तौ them, उत्थाप्य raising up, उभौ both, सस्वजे embraced, रामश्च Rama, हृष्टः joyful, एवम् in that way, उवाचह spoke.

Meaning

Raising up both the princes who were extraordinarily brilliant and equalled Indra, Garuda embraced Rama joyfully and thus spoke.

YK-50-42Yuddha Kanda 50.42

भवत्प्रसादाद् व्यसनंरावणिप्रभवंमहत् । आवामिहव्यतिक्रान्तौपूर्ववद् बलिनौकृतौ ।।6.50.42।।

bhavatprasādād vyasanṃrāvaṇiprabhavṃmahat | āvāmihavyatikrāntaupūrvavad balinaukṛtau ||6.50.42||

Translation

भवत्प्रसादाद् by your kindness, आवाम् we, रावणिप्रभवम् Ravana's son's influence, महत् great, व्यसनम् calamity, इह here, व्यतिक्रान्तौ overcome, पूर्ववत् regained like before, बलिनौ strength, कृतौ did.

Meaning

"By your kindness, we have overcome this calamity caused by Ravana's son and regained our strength as before."

YK-50-43Yuddha Kanda 50.43

यथातातंदशरथंयथाऽजंचपितामहम् । तथाभवन्तमासाद्यहृदयंमेप्रसीदति ।।6.50.43।।

yathātātṃdaśarathṃyathā'jṃcapitāmaham | tathābhavantamāsādyahṛdayṃmeprasīdati ||6.50.43||

Translation

भवन्तम् for me, आसाद्य to meet you, तातम् father, दशरथम् Dasaratha, यथा same way, पितामहम् grandfather, अजंच Aja also, यथा in the same way, तथा like that, मे my, हृदयम् in my heart, प्रसीदति rejoices.

Meaning

"For me to meet you is like meeting my father Dasaratha and grandfather, Aja. My heart rejoices."

YK-50-44Yuddha Kanda 50.44

कोभवान्रूपसम्पन्नोदिव्यस्रगनुलेपनः । वसानोविरजेवस्त्रदिव्याभरणभूषितः ।।6.50.44।।

kobhavānrūpasampannodivyasraganulepanḥ | vasānovirajevastradivyābharaṇabhūṣitḥ ||6.50.44||

Translation

रूपसम्पन्नः of charming appearance, दिव्यस्रगनुलेपः smeared with wonderful unguents, विरजे free from dust, वस्त्र adored in,, वसानः garments, दिव्याभरणभूषितः wearing beautiful ornaments, भवान् yourself, कः who are you.

Meaning

"Who are you, richly endowed with charming appearance, smeared with unguents adored in dust free garments, wearing beautiful ornaments?"

YK-50-45Yuddha Kanda 50.45

तमुवाचमहातेजावैनतेयोमहाबलः । पतत्त्रिराजःप्रीतात्माहर्षपर्याकुलेक्षणः ।।6.50.45।।

tamuvācamahātejāvainateyomahābalḥ | patattrirājḥprītātmāharṣaparyākulekṣaṇḥ ||6.50.45||

Translation

महातेजाः endowed with brightness, महाबलः strong, पतत्त्रिराजः king of birds, वैनतेयः Vinatha, प्रीतात्मा delighted self, हर्षपर्याकुलेक्षणः eyes with tears of joy, तम् to him, उवाच said.

Meaning

To Rama whose eyes were filled with joyful tears, Vinatha, the king of birds, full of brightness and strength said.

YK-50-46Yuddha Kanda 50.46

अहंसखातेकाकुत्स्थ प्रियःप्राणोबहिश्चरः । गरुत्मानिहसम्प्राप्तोयुवयोःसाह्यकारणात् ।।6.50.46।।

ahṃsakhātekākutstha priyḥprāṇobahiścarḥ | garutmānihasamprāptoyuvayoḥsāhyakāraṇāt ||6.50.46||

Translation

काकुत्स्थ Kakuthsa, अहम् I am, ते to you, प्रियः dear, सखा friend, बहिश्चरः outer, प्राणः breath, गरुत्मान् Garuthman, युवयोः you both, साह्यकारणात् in order to help, इह here, सम्प्राप्त reached.

Meaning

"O Kakuthsa! I am Garuthman, your dear friend and your outer breath. I reached here to help you."

YK-50-47-48Yuddha Kanda 50.47–48 (युग्मम्)

असुरावामहावीर्यावानरावामहाबलाः । सुराश्चापिसगन्ध्वर्वाःपुरस्कृत्यशतक्रतुम् ।।6.50.47।। नेमंमोक्षयितुंशक्ताश्शरबन्धंसुदारुणम् । मायाबलादिन्द्रजितानिर्मितंक्रूरकर्मणा ।।6.50.48।।

asurāvāmahāvīryāvānarāvāmahābalāḥ | surāścāpisagandhvarvāḥpuraskṛtyaśatakratum ||6.50.47|| nemṃmokṣayituṃśaktāśśarabandhṃsudāruṇam | māyābalādindrajitānirmitṃkrūrakarmaṇā ||6.50.48||

Translation

क्रूरकर्मणा of cruel deeds, इन्द्रजिता of Indrajith, मायाबलात् by his tricks, निर्मितम् for that reason, सुदारुणम् very fierce, इमम् such, शरबन्धम् bondage with arrows, मोक्षयितुम् to get freed from, महावीर्याः of mighty valour, असुराःवा demon, महाबलाः great strength, वानराःवा Vanara also, शतक्रतुम् hundred sacrifices, पुरस्कृत्य had done, सगन्धर्वाः even Gandharvas, सुरश्चापि even Devatas, नशक्ताः not possible.

Meaning

"For the demons endowed with great strength and of mighty valour or for Gandharvas, or Vanaras or for even Devatas, or Indra who has done a hundred sacrifices, it is not possible to get relieved from bondage of the arrows of Indrajith of cruel deeds carried out by tricks."

YK-50-49Yuddha Kanda 50.49

एतेनागाःकाद्रवेयास्तीक्ष्णदंष्ट्राविषोल्बणाः । रक्षोमायाप्रभावेणशराभूत्वास्त्वदाश्रिताः ।।6.50.49।।

etenāgāḥkādraveyāstīkṣṇadṃṣṭrāviṣolbaṇāḥ | rakṣomāyāprabhāveṇaśarābhūtvāstvadāśritāḥ ||6.50.49||

Translation

तीक्ष्णदंष्ट्राः with sharp fangs विषोल्बणाः highly poisonous, काद्रवेयाः born to Kadra Devata, एतेनागाः these serpents, रक्षोमायाप्रभावेण by the tricks applied by Rakshasas, शराः arrows, भूत्वा turned into, त्वदाश्रिताः reached you.

Meaning

"These arrows are serpents born of Kadra Devata. They have sharp fangs and are highly poisonous. By the tricks of Rakshasa, it has turned into arrows and reached you."

YK-50-50Yuddha Kanda 50.50

सभाग्यश्चासिधर्मज्ञ राम सत्यपराक्रम । लक्ष्मणेनसहभ्रात्रासमरेरिपुघातिना ।।6.50.50।।

sabhāgyaścāsidharmajña rāma satyaparākrama | lakṣmaṇenasahabhrātrāsamareripughātinā ||6.50.50||

Translation

धर्मज्ञ righteous, सत्यपराक्रम whose strength is truth, राम Rama, समरे in war, शत्रुघातिना destroyer of foes, भ्रात्रा brother, लक्ष्मणेनसह accompanied by Lakshmana, सभाग्यः lucky, असि you are.

Meaning

"You are lucky and also Lakshmana your brother, destroyer of foes in war. Rama your strength is truth, and you are righteous."

YK-50-51Yuddha Kanda 50.51

इमंश्रुत्वातुवृत्तान्तंत्वरमाणोऽहमागतः । सहसायुवयोःस्नेहात्सखित्वमनुपालयन् ।।6.50.51।।

imṃśrutvātuvṛttāntṃtvaramāṇo'hamāgatḥ | sahasāyuvayoḥsnehātsakhitvamanupālayan ||6.50.51||

Translation

अहम् I am, इमम् this, वृत्तान्तम् information, श्रुत्वा having heard, युवयोः both of you, स्नेहात् out of friendship, सखित्वम् affection, अनुपालयन् in obedience to you, सहसा at once, त्वरमाणः hastened, आगतः to reach.

Meaning

"Having heard the information about both of you bound by serpents, out of my friendship and affection and in obedience to you I hastened and reached here."

YK-50-52Yuddha Kanda 50.52

मोक्षितौचमहाघोरादस्मात्सायकबन्धनात् । अप्रमादश्चकर्तव्योयुवाभ्यांनित्यमेवच ।।6.50.52।।

mokṣitaucamahāghorādasmātsāyakabandhanāt | apramādaścakartavyoyuvābhyāṃnityamevaca ||6.50.52||

Translation

महाघोरात् frightful, अस्मात् to you, सायकबन्धनात् from the bondage of snakes, मोक्षितौच and to relieve, युवाभ्याम् both of you, नित्यमेवच guilelessness, अप्रमादः inattentive, कर्तव्यः your duty.

Meaning

"Considering it as my duty to relieve you both from the frightful bondage of snakes I reached. Do not be inattentive and guileless."

YK-50-53Yuddha Kanda 50.53

प्रकृत्याराक्षसाःसर्वेसङ्ग्रामेकूटयोधिनः । शूराणांशुद्धभावानांभवतामरार्जवंबलम् ।।6.50.53।।

prakṛtyārākṣasāḥsarvesaṅgrāmekūṭayodhinḥ | śūrāṇāṃśuddhabhāvānāṃbhavatāmarārjavṃbalam ||6.50.53||

Translation

प्रकृत्या by nature, सर्वे all, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, सङ्ग्रामे in war, कूटयोधिनः use tricks in war, शूराणाम् noble people, शुद्धभावानाम् of good nature, भवताम् for you, आर्जवम् guilelessness, बलम् strength.

Meaning

"Rakshasas by nature use tricks in war. For noble people with good nature guilelessness is strength."

YK-50-54Yuddha Kanda 50.54

तन्नविश्वसनीयंवोराक्षसानांरणाजिरे । एतेनैवोपमानेननित्यंजिह्माहिराक्षसाः ।।6.50.54।।

tannaviśvasanīyṃvorākṣasānāṃraṇājire | etenaivopamānenanityṃjihmāhirākṣasāḥ ||6.50.54||

Translation

तत् being so, रणाजिरे in war, वः them, राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, नविश्वसनीयम् not to be trusted, एतेन because, उपमानेनैव by this experience, राक्षसाः of Rakshasa, नित्यम् ever, जिह्माःहि crooked.

Meaning

"Being so you should not trust Rakshasas. By this experience you know that Rakshasas are crooked."

YK-50-55Yuddha Kanda 50.55

एवमुक्त्वातदारामंसुपर्णस्सुमहाबलः । परिष्वज्यचसुहृत्स्निग्धमाप्रष्टुमुपचक्रमे ।।6.50.55।।

evamuktvātadārāmṃsuparṇassumahābalḥ | pariṣvajyacasuhṛtsnigdhamāpraṣṭumupacakrame ||6.50.55||

Translation

महाबलः mighty strong, सःसुपर्णः that Suparna, तदा then, रामम् to Rama, एवम् in that way, उक्त्वा having said, सुहृत्स्निग्धम् most affectionately, परिष्वज्यच embracing, अप्रष्टुम् took leave, उपचक्रमे and proceeded.

Meaning

Having said so, Suparna endowed with mighty strength embraced Rama most affectionately and took leave of him.

YK-50-56Yuddha Kanda 50.56

सखे राघव धर्मज्ञ रिपूणामपिवत्सल । अभ्यनुज्ञातुमिच्छामिगमिष्यामियथामतम् ।।6.50.56।।

sakhe rāghava dharmajña ripūṇāmapivatsala | abhyanujñātumicchāmigamiṣyāmiyathāmatam ||6.50.56||

Translation

धर्मज्ञ right, रिपूणामपि even to an enemy, वत्सल dear, सखे friend, राम Rama, अभ्यनुज्ञातुम् take leave of you, इच्छामि wish, यथामतम् truly, गमिष्यामि let me go.

Meaning

"My dear friend! I wish to take leave of you. Truly you are knower of what is right, and you are dear even to an enemy."

YK-50-57Yuddha Kanda 50.57

नचकौतूहलंकार्यंसखित्वंप्रतिराघव । कृतकर्मारणेवीर सखित्वंप्रतिवेत्स्यसि ।।6.50.57।।

nacakautūhalṃkāryṃsakhitvṃpratirāghava | kṛtakarmāraṇevīra sakhitvṃprativetsyasi ||6.50.57||

Translation

वीर heroic, राघव Raghava, सखित्वम् friendship, कौतूहलम् curiosity, नकार्यम् that question, रणे in war, कृतकर्मा having won, सखित्वम् friendship, प्रतिवेत्स्यसि recognize.

Meaning

"Heroic Rama! No question about your curiosity about our friendship now. After winning the war you will recognize."

YK-50-58Yuddha Kanda 50.58

बालवृद्धावशेषांतुकृत्वालङ्कांशरोर्मिभिः । रावणंचरिपुंहत्वासीतांत्वंसमुलप्स्यते ।।6.50.58।।

bālavṛddhāvaśeṣāṃtukṛtvālaṅkāṃśarormibhiḥ | rāvaṇṃcaripuṃhatvāsītāṃtvṃsamulapsyate ||6.50.58||

Translation

लङ्काम् at Lanka, शरोर्मिभिः with arrows, बालवृद्धानशेषाम् left with youngsters and aged, कृत्वा having done so, रिपुम् enemy, रावणम् Ravana, हत्वा killed, त्वम् you, सीताम् Sita, समुलप्स्यते recover again.

Meaning

"Lanka will be left with youngsters and the aged with your arrows. The enemy Ravana killed, you will recover Sita."

YK-50-59-60Yuddha Kanda 50.59–60 (युग्मम्)

इत्येवमुक्त्वावचनंसुपर्णश्शीघ्रविक्रमः । रामंचविरुजंकृत्वामध्येतेषांवनौकसाम् ।।6.5.59।। प्रदक्षिणंततःकृत्वापरिष्वज्यचवीर्यवान् । जगामाकाशमाविश्यसुपर्णःपवनोयथा ।।6.50.60।।

ityevamuktvāvacanṃsuparṇaśśīghravikramḥ | rāmṃcavirujṃkṛtvāmadhyeteṣāṃvanaukasām ||6.5.59|| pradakṣiṇṃtatḥkṛtvāpariṣvajyacavīryavān | jagāmākāśamāviśyasuparṇḥpavanoyathā ||6.50.60||

Translation

सुपर्णः Suparna, शीघ्रविक्रमः swift in flying, वीर्यवान् valiant, सुपर्णः Suparna, तेषाम् from there, वनौकसाम् to the forest, मध्ये middle, इत्येवम् in that way, वचनम् words, उक्त्वा having spoken, रामम् to Rama, विरुजम् embracing him, कृत्वा done, ततः thereafter, प्रदक्षिणंकृत्वा going round in reverence, परिष्वज्यच soared, पवनोयथा like wind, आकाशम् into the sky, आविश्य flew, जगाम and went.

Meaning

Having spoken to Rama in that manner, Suparna endowed with wind speed in flight embraced Rama and went around him as a mark of reverence and soared into the sky.

YK-50-61Yuddha Kanda 50.61

विरुजौराघवौदृष्टवाततोवानरयूथपाः । सिंहनादांस्तदानेदुर्लङ्गूलंन्दुधुवुस्तदा ।।6.50.61।।

virujaurāghavaudṛṣṭavātatovānarayūthapāḥ | siṃhanādāṃstadānedurlaṅgūlṃndudhuvustadā ||6.50.61||

Translation

ततः then, वानरयूथपाः Vanara troops, राघवौ Raghavas, विरुजौ freed from anguish, दृष्टवा seeing, तदा then, सिंहनादान् roared like lions, नेदुः sound, तदा then, लाङ्गूलान् tails, दुधुवुश्च lashed.

Meaning

Thereafter the Vanara troops, seeing the Raghavas freed from anguish, roared like a lion, and lashed their tails.

YK-50-62Yuddha Kanda 50.62

ततोभेरीस्समाजघ्नुर्मृदङ्गांश्चाप्यनादयन् । दध्मुश्शङ्खान्सम्प्रहृष्टाःक्षेवलन्त्यपियथापुरम् ।।6.50.62।।

tatobherīssamājaghnurmṛdaṅgāṃścāpyanādayan | dadhmuśśaṅkhānsamprahṛṣṭāḥkṣevalantyapiyathāpuram ||6.50.62||

Translation

ततः and then, भेरीः drums, समाजघ्नुः played, मृदङ्गांश्चापि even mridangams, अवादयन् played, शङ्खान् conches, दध्मुः blew, यथापुरम् as before, क्षेवलन्त्यपि leap and jump.

Meaning

Then the Vanaras played drums and even mridangams, blew conches and started jumping and leaping as before.

आस्फोट्याःस्पोट्यविक्रान्ताःवानराःनगयोधिनः । द्रुमानुत्पट्यविविधांस्तस्थुश्शतसहस्रशः ।।6.50.63।।

āsphoṭyāḥspoṭyavikrāntāḥvānarāḥnagayodhinḥ | drumānutpaṭyavividhāṃstasthuśśatasahasraśḥ ||6.50.63||

Translation

नगयोधिनः who fight uprooting trees, विक्रान्ताः proud of their ability, आस्फोट्याः breaking forth, वानराः Vanaras, स्पोट्य cracking fingers and making loud noise, शतसहस्रशः hundreds and thousands, विविधान् several, द्रुमान् trees, उत्पाट्य uprooted, तस्थुः stood.

Meaning

The Vanaras who can fight with trees, uprooted several trees expressing their capacity distinctly and breaking them, and cracking their fingers. Making loud noise in hundreds and thousands stood there.

विसृजन्तोमहानादांस्त्रासयन्तोनिशाचरान् । लङ्काद्वाराण्युपाजग्मुर्युद्धकामाःप्लवङ्गमाः ।।6.50.64।।

visṛjantomahānādāṃstrāsayantoniśācarān | laṅkādvārāṇyupājagmuryuddhakāmāḥplavaṅgamāḥ ||6.50.64||

Translation

प्लवङ्गमाः Vanaras, महानादान् great noise, विसृजन्तः emitting, निशाचरान् night rangers, त्रासयन्तः frightening, युद्धकामाः desiring to wage war, लङ्काद्वाराणि gates of Lanka, उपाजग्मुः reached.

Meaning

Making a lot of noise, the Vanaras reached the gates of Lanka frightening night rangers and desiring to wage war.

तेषांसुखीमस्तुमुलोनिनादोबभूवशाखामृगयूथपानाम् । क्षयेनिदाघस्ययथाघनानांनादस्सुभीमोनदतांनिशीथे ।।6.50.65।।

teṣāṃsukhīmastumuloninādobabhūvaśākhāmṛgayūthapānām | kṣayenidāghasyayathāghanānāṃnādassubhīmonadatāṃniśīthe ||6.50.65||

Translation

निदाघस्य thundering, क्षये universal destruction, निशीधे midnight, नदताम् sound, घनानाम् heavy clouds, सुभीमः terrific, नादःयथा like sound, तेषाम् from there, शाखामृगयूथपानाम् troops of Vanaras who fight with trees, सुभीमः frightening, तुमुलः loud, नादः sound, बभूव arose.

Meaning

Thundering sounds resembling heavy clouds making terrific sounds arose, as if universal destruction was taking place at midnight. ।। इत्यार्षेवाल्मीकीयेश्रीमद्रामायणेआदिकाव्येयुद्धकाण्डेपञ्चाशस्सर्गः ।। This is the end of the fiftieth sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.
