YK-107-1-2Yuddha Kanda 107.1–2 (युग्मम्)

ततोयुद्धपरिश्रान्तंसमरेचिन्तयास्थितम् । रावणंचाग्रतोदृष्टवायुद्धायसमुपस्थितम् ।।6.107.1।। दैवतैश्चसमागम्यद्रष्टुमभ्यागतोरणम् । उपागम्याब्रवीद्राममगस्त्योभगवान् ऋषिः ।।6.107.2।।

tatoyuddhapariśrāntṃsamarecintayāsthitam | rāvaṇṃcāgratodṛṣṭavāyuddhāyasamupasthitam ||6.107.1|| daivataiścasamāgamyadraṣṭumabhyāgatoraṇam | upāgamyābravīdrāmamagastyobhagavān ṛṣiḥ ||6.107.2||

Translation

ततः then, दैवतैः Devatas, समागम्य collected together, रणम् war, द्रष्टुम् seeing, अभ्यागतः came, भगवान् god, अगस्त्यऋषिः Agastya Risi, युद्धपरिश्रान्तम् duly prepared, युद्धाय for war, समुपस्थितम् come and stood, रावणम् Ravana, अग्रतः before, दृष्टवा seeing, समरे in war, चिन्तया thinking, स्थितम् stood, रामम् Rama, उपगम्य had come, अब्रवीत् spoke as follows

Meaning

Then seeing Sri Rama standing and thinking of the war, duly prepared, Rishi Agastya came with Devatas to witness the war with Ravana and spoke as follows.

YK-107-3Yuddha Kanda 107.3

राम राम महाबाहो शृणुगुह्यंसनातनम् । येनसर्वानरीस्वत्ससमरेविजयिष्यसे ।।6.107.3।।

rāma rāma mahābāho śṛṇuguhyṃsanātanam | yenasarvānarīsvatsasamarevijayiṣyase ||6.107.3||

Translation

महाबाहो mighty armed, रामराम Rama Rama, सनातनम् eternal, गुह्यम् secret, शृणु hear, वत्स dear, येन because, समरे in war, सर्वान् all, अरीन् enemies, विजयिष्यसे which will enable you to win

Meaning

"O mighty armed Sri Rama! Dear, hear this eternal secret (mantra) which will enable you to win all the enemies in war."

YK-107-4-5Yuddha Kanda 107.4–5 (युग्मम्)

आदित्यहृदयंपुण्यंसर्वशत्रुविनाशनम् । जयावहंजपेन्नित्यमक्षय्यंपरमंशिवम् ।।6.107.4।। सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गल्यंसर्वपापप्रणाशनम् । चिन्ताशोकप्रशमनमायुर्वर्धनमुत्तमम् ।।6.107.5।।

ādityahṛdayṃpuṇyṃsarvaśatruvināśanam | jayāvahṃjapennityamakṣayyṃparamṃśivam ||6.107.4|| sarvamaṅgalamaṅgalyṃsarvapāpapraṇāśanam | cintāśokapraśamanamāyurvardhanamuttamam ||6.107.5||

Translation

पुण्यम् sacred, सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम् which can destroy all enemies, जयावहम् bring victory, अक्षय्यम् eternal, परमंशिवम् very auspicious, सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गल्यम् supremely blessed for all and prolongs life, सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्root out sins, चिन्ताशोकप्रशमनम् remove anxiety, उत्तमम् excellent, आयुर्वर्थनम् prolongs life, आदित्यहृदयम् Aditya Hridayam, नित्यम् always, जपेत् bring victory

Meaning

"Rama! Listen to this sacred mantra, 'Aditya Hridayam' which can bring victory, which is eternal, very auspicious, and supremely blessed and prolongs life of all by means of which you will destroy all enemies, root out sins, remove anxiety and always bring victory.

YK-107-6Yuddha Kanda 107.6

रस्मीमन्तंसमुद्यन्तंदेवासुरनमस्कृतम् । पूजयस्वविवस्त्वन्तंभास्करंभुवनेश्वरम् ।।6.107.6।।

rasmīmantṃsamudyantṃdevāsuranamaskṛtam | pūjayasvavivastvantṃbhāskarṃbhuvaneśvaram ||6.107.6||

Translation

रस्मीमन्तम् crowned with rays, समुद्यन्तम् rising up at the horizon, देवासुरनमस्कृत्य greeted by gods and demons, विवस्वन्तम् bring light, भास्करम् sun god, भुवनेश्वरम् embodiment of all gods, पूजयस्वworship

Meaning

"You worship the Sun God, crowned with rays rising up at the horizon, greeted by all gods and demons, who brings light to all and who is the embodiment of all gods."

YK-107-7Yuddha Kanda 107.7

सर्वदेवात्मकोह्येषतेजस्वीरस्मीभावनः । एषदेवासुरगणान्लोकान्पातिगभस्तिभिः ।।6.107.7।।

sarvadevātmakohyeṣatejasvīrasmībhāvanḥ | eṣadevāsuragaṇānlokānpātigabhastibhiḥ ||6.107.7||

Translation

एषः he is, सर्वदेवात्मकः self in all, तेजस्वी glorious, रस्मीभावनः by his rays, एषः he in that way, गभस्तिभिः ray of light, देवासुरगणान् for gods and suras, लोकान् for the world, पाति Lord

Meaning

"He is the self in all, glorious, he sustains by his rays of light, the gods, suras and the whole world. He is the Lord of all.

YK-107-8Yuddha Kanda 107.8

एषब्रह्मा च विष्णुश्चशिवःस्कन्धःप्रजापतिः । महेन्द्रोधनदःकालोयमःसोमोह्यपांपतिः ।।6.107.8।।

eṣabrahmā ca viṣṇuścaśivḥskandhḥprajāpatiḥ | mahendrodhanadḥkāloyamḥsomohyapāṃpatiḥ ||6.107.8||

Translation

एषः in the same way, ब्रह्मा च Brahma, the creator, विष्णुश्च Vishnu also, शिवः Siva also, स्कन्धः Skanda, प्रजापतिः Prajapati, महेन्द्र Mahendra, धनदः Kubera, कालः Time spirit, यमः Yama, सोमः Soma, अपांपतिः Varuna

Meaning

"In the same way, he is the body of Brahma the creator, he is Vishnu also, Shiva also, S Kanda, Prajapati, Mahendra, Kubera, time spirit, Yama, Soma, and Varuna also.

YK-107-9Yuddha Kanda 107.9

पितरोवसवस्साध्याअश्विनौमरुतोमनुः । वायुर्वह्निःप्रजाःप्राणऋतुकर्ताप्रभाकरः ।।6.107.9।।

pitarovasavassādhyāaśvinaumarutomanuḥ | vāyurvahniḥprajāḥprāṇaṛtukartāprabhākarḥ ||6.107.9||

Translation

पितरः manes, वसवः Vasava, साध्याः Sadhyas, अश्विनौ Aswinis, मरुतः Marutha, मनुः Manu, वायुः Wind god, वह्निः god of fire, प्रजाः for beings, प्राणः life, ऋतुकर्ता god of seasons, प्रभाकरः Sun god

Meaning

"He is the god of manes, Vasava, Sadhayas, Aswins, Marutha, Manu, wind god, fire god, life of all beings and god of all seasons.

YK-107-10Yuddha Kanda 107.10

आदित्यःसवितासूर्यःखगःपूषागभस्तिमान् । सुवर्णसदृशोभानुर्हिरण्यरेतादिवाकरः ।।6.107.10।।

ādityḥsavitāsūryḥkhagḥpūṣāgabhastimān | suvarṇasadṛśobhānurhiraṇyaretādivākarḥ ||6.107.10||

Translation

आदित्यः Aditya, सविता Savitha, सूर्यः Sun, खगः sky, पूषा sustainer, गभस्तिमान् rays of light, सुवर्णसदृशः of golden effulgence, भानुः Bhanu, हिरण्यरेताः shining with golden rays, दिवाकरः Sun god

Meaning

"You are the son of Aditi, the sungod, creator Savitha, the courser in the heavens, the sustainer, the possessor of golden rays, Bhanu, shining with golden rays, the Sun god.

YK-107-11Yuddha Kanda 107.11

हरिदश्वस्सहस्रार्चिस्सप्तसप्तिर्मरीचिमान् । तिमिरोन्मथनश्शम्भुस्त्वष्टामार्तण्डकोऽंशुमान् ।।6.107.11।।

haridaśvassahasrārcissaptasaptirmarīcimān | timironmathanaśśambhustvaṣṭāmārtaṇḍako'ṃśumān ||6.107.11||

Translation

हरिदश्वः possessor of green horses, सहस्रार्चिः of thousand rays, सप्तसप्तिः having horse Sapta, मरीचिमान् destroyer of darkness, तिमिरोन्मथनः mitigator of the suffering of devotees, शम्भु: giver of happiness, त्वष्टा destroyer of all names and forms, मार्तण्डकः the infuser of life in the cosmic egg, अंशुमान् all pervading

Meaning

"You are the possessor of seven green horses, having a thousand rays, having horse Sapta, destroyer of darkness, mitigator of the suffering of all devotees, giver of happiness, destroyer of all names and forms, the infuser of life in the cosmic egg and having the allpervading rays.

YK-107-12Yuddha Kanda 107.12

हिरण्यगर्भश्शिशिरस्तपनोभास्करोरविः । अग्निगर्भोऽदितेःपुत्रःशङ्घश्शिशिरनाशनः ।।6.107.12।।

hiraṇyagarbhaśśiśirastapanobhāskaroraviḥ | agnigarbho'diteḥputrḥśaṅghaśśiśiranāśanḥ ||6.107.12||

Translation

हिरण्यगर्भः having golden cosmic egg in the womb, शिशिरः cool, तपनः purifier, भास्करः ruler of all, रविः bringer of day, अग्निगर्भः Bears dissolution in the womb, अदितेः son of Aditi, पुत्रः son, शङ्खः bliss personified, शिशिरनाशनः destroyer of cold

Meaning

"You have the golden cosmic egg in the womb, you are cool, you are the purifier, the ruler of all, bringer of day, who Bears the fire of dissolution in the womb. You are the son of Aditi, blissful personified and destroyer of cold.

YK-107-13Yuddha Kanda 107.13

व्योमनाथस्तमोभेदीऋग्यजुस्सामपारगः । घनवृष्टिरपांमित्रोविन्ध्यवीथीप्लवङ्गमः ।।6.107.13।।

vyomanāthastamobhedīṛgyajussāmapāragḥ | ghanavṛṣṭirapāṃmitrovindhyavīthīplavaṅgamḥ ||6.107.13||

Translation

व्योमनाथः Lord of the sky,, तमोभेदी dispeller of darkness, ऋग्यजुसामपारगः the master of the three Vedas, Rig, Yajur and Sama vedas, घनवृष्टिः sender of rain, अपाम् of water, मित्रः friend, विन्ध्यवीथीप्लवङ्गमः courser of the path of Vindhya swiftly

Meaning

"You are the Lord of the sky, dispeller of darkness, the master of the three VedasRig, Yajur and Sama, the sender of rain, the friend of water and the courser of the path of Vindhya swiftly.

YK-107-14Yuddha Kanda 107.14

आतपीमण्डलेमृत्युःपिङ्गलस्सर्वतापनः । कविर्विश्वोमहातेजारक्तस्सर्वभवोद्भव: ।।6.107.14।।

ātapīmaṇḍalemṛtyuḥpiṅgalassarvatāpanḥ | kavirviśvomahātejāraktassarvabhavodbhava: ||6.107.14||

Translation

आतपी possessor of heat, मण्डले circle of rays, मृत्युः killer of all enemies, पिङ्गलः tawny, सर्वतापनः destroyer of all, कविः creator, विश्वः omniscient, महातेजाः resplendant, रक्तः lover of all devotees, सर्वभवोद्भवः source of all evolutes

Meaning

"You are the possessor of heat, adorned with a circle of rays. You are killer of all enemies, tawny destroyer of all, omniscient, lover of all devotees and source of all evolutes.

YK-107-15Yuddha Kanda 107.15

नक्षत्रग्रहताराणामधिपोविश्वभावनः । तेजसामपितेजस्वीद्वादशात्मन्नमोऽस्तुते ।।6.107.15।।

nakṣatragrahatārāṇāmadhipoviśvabhāvanḥ | tejasāmapitejasvīdvādaśātmannamo'stute ||6.107.15||

Translation

नक्षत्रग्रहताराणाम् stars, planets, विश्वभावनः creator of all, तेजसामपि resplendent, तेजस्वी among the splendid, द्वादशात्मन् of twelve faces, ते you, नमः hail, अस्तु to you

Meaning

"You are the Lord of all stars and planets. You are the creator of all, resplendent among the splendid, the twelve faces of twelve months. Hail to you.

YK-107-16Yuddha Kanda 107.16

नमःपूर्वायगिरयेपश्चिमायाद्रयेनमः । ज्योतिर्गणानांपतयेदिनाधिपतयेनमः ।।6.107.16।।

namḥpūrvāyagirayepaścimāyādrayenamḥ | jyotirgaṇānāṃpatayedinādhipatayenamḥ ||6.107.16||

Translation

पूर्वायगिरये on the east mountain, नमः hail to you, पश्चिमायअद्रये setting in the west, नमः hail to you, दिनाधिपतयेः Lord of luminaries, नमः hail to you

Meaning

"Hail to you, rising on the east mountain, setting in the west. Hail to the Lord of all luminaries.

YK-107-17Yuddha Kanda 107.17

जयायजयभद्रायहर्यश्वायनमोनमः । नमोनमस्सहस्रांशोआदित्यायनमोनमः ।।6.107.17।।

jayāyajayabhadrāyaharyaśvāyanamonamḥ | namonamassahasrāṃśoādityāyanamonamḥ ||6.107.17||

Translation

जयाय giver of victory, जयभद्राय joy born of victory, हर्यश्वाय god having green horses, नमःनमः hail to you hail to you, आदित्याय Aditya, नमःनमः namaskar, namaskar

Meaning

"Namaskar, Namaskar to the giver of victory, joy born of victory, god having green horses. Hail to you Aditya.

YK-107-18Yuddha Kanda 107.18

नमउग्रायवीरायसारङ्गायनमोनमः । नमःपद्मप्रबोधायमार्ताण्डायनमोऽस्तुते ।।6.107.18।।

namaugrāyavīrāyasāraṅgāyanamonamḥ | namḥpadmaprabodhāyamārtāṇḍāyanamo'stute ||6.107.18||

Translation

उग्राय of terrible form, वीराय valiant, नमः hail to you, सारङ्गाय denoted by syllable AUM, नमःनमः namaskar namaskar, पद्मप्रबोधाय awakener of lotus, नमः namaskar, मार्ताण्डाय the fierce one, ते to you, नमः namaskar, अस्तु be

Meaning

"Hail to you of terrible form, of valiant one, denoted by the syllable 'AUM'. Namaskar to the awakener of lotuses. Namaskar to the fierce one.

YK-107-19Yuddha Kanda 107.19

ब्रह्मेशानाच्युतेशायसूर्यायादित्यवर्चसे । भास्वतेसर्वभक्षायरौद्रायवपुषेनमः ।।6.107.19।।

brahmeśānācyuteśāyasūryāyādityavarcase | bhāsvatesarvabhakṣāyaraudrāyavapuṣenamḥ ||6.107.19||

Translation

ब्रह्मेशानाच्युतेशाय the ruler of Brahma, Siva and Vishnu, सूर्याय Sun god, आदित्यवर्चसे the spiritual light in dwelling, भास्वते in solar orbit, सर्वभक्षाय consumer of all, रौद्रायवपुषे appearing in the form of Rudra, नमः namaskar

Meaning

"Namskar to you, the ruler of Brahma, Siva and Vishnu, to you the Sun god, the spiritual dwelling light in solar orbit, the consumer of all appearing in the form of Rudra.

YK-107-20Yuddha Kanda 107.20

तमोघ्नायहिमघ्नायशत्रुघ्नायामितात्मने । कृतघ्नघ्नायदेवायज्योतिषांपतयेनमः ।।6.107.20।।

tamoghnāyahimaghnāyaśatrughnāyāmitātmane | kṛtaghnaghnāyadevāyajyotiṣāṃpatayenamḥ ||6.107.20||

Translation

तमोघ्नाय dispeller of darkness, हिमघ्नाय dispeller of cold, शत्रुघ्नाय dispeller of enemies, अमितात्मने whose extent is immeasurable, कृतघ्नघ्नाय destroyer of the ungrateful, देवाय god, ज्योतिषाम् ruler of lights, पतये Lord of all, नमः namaskar

Meaning

"You are the dispeller of darkness, dispeller of cold, dispeller of enemies, your extent is immeasurable. You are the destroyer of the ungrateful, the ruler of lights, the Lord of all and namaskar to you.

YK-107-21Yuddha Kanda 107.21

तप्तचामीकराभायहरयेविश्मकर्मणे । नमस्तमोभिनिघ्नायरुचयेलोकसाक्षिणे।।1.107.21।।

taptacāmīkarābhāyaharayeviśmakarmaṇe | namastamobhinighnāyarucayelokasākṣiṇe||1.107.21||

Translation

तप्तचामीकराभाय possessing lustre of pure gold, हरये dispeller of ignorance,, विश्वकर्मण architect of the universe, तमोभिनिघ्नाय splendor incarnate in the form of fire in all, रुचये splendor, लोकसाक्षिणे witnessor of all actions in the world, नमः namaskar

Meaning

"Namaskar to one possessing the lustre of pure gold, dispeller of darkness, architect of the universe, splendor incarnate in the form of fire in all, witnessor of all actions in the world.

YK-107-22Yuddha Kanda 107.22

नाशयत्येषवैभूतंतदेवसृजतिप्रभुः । पायत्येषतपत्येषवर्षत्येष गभस्तिभिः ।1.107.22।।

nāśayatyeṣavaibhūtṃtadevasṛjatiprabhuḥ | pāyatyeṣatapatyeṣavarṣatyeṣa gabhastibhiḥ |1.107.22||

Translation

प्रभुः Lord, एषःचै being so, भूतम् beings, नाशयति destroys, तदेव this god, सृजति creates, एषः he alone, गभस्तिभिः radiates, पायति thirst, एषः he alone, तपति heats, एषः he alone, वर्षति rains

Meaning

"Being a creator and destroyer of the world, this Sun god alone radiates, creates thirst by heat and rains to relieve.

YK-107-23Yuddha Kanda 107.23

एषसुप्तेषुजागर्तिभूतेषुपरिनिष्ठितः । एषचैवाग्निहोत्रं च फलंचैवाग्निहोत्रिणाम् ।।6.107.23।।

eṣasupteṣujāgartibhūteṣupariniṣṭhitḥ | eṣacaivāgnihotrṃ ca phalṃcaivāgnihotriṇām ||6.107.23||

Translation

एषः he alone, भूतेषु among beings, सुप्तेषु in sleep, परिनिष्ठितः pervades, जागर्ति awake, एषःचैव he alone, अग्निहोत्रं च is fire sacrifice, अग्निहोत्रिणाम् of fire sacrifice, फलं च fruits

Meaning

"He alone pervades the created beings and remains awake in sleep. He alone is the fire sacrifice as well as the fruits obtained from fire sacrifice.

YK-107-24Yuddha Kanda 107.24

वेदश्चक्रतवश्चैवक्रतूनांफलमेव च । यानिकृत्यानिलोकेषुसर्वेषुपरमप्रभुः ।।6.107.24।।

vedaścakratavaścaivakratūnāṃphalameva ca | yānikṛtyānilokeṣusarveṣuparamaprabhuḥ ||6.107.24||

Translation

वेदश्च vedas, क्रतवश्चैव sacrifices, क्रतूनाम् of the sacrifices, फलमेव च results, सर्वेषु all, लोकेषु in the worlds, यानि he alone, कृत्यानि of all actions, परमप्रभुः supreme controller

Meaning

"He is all vedas, as well as all the sacrifices as also the fruits of all sacrifices. He is the supreme controller of all actions in all worlds.

YK-107-25Yuddha Kanda 107.25

एनमापत्सुकृच्छ्रेषुकान्तारेषुभयेषु च । कीर्तयन्पुरुषःकश्चिनावसीदतिराघव ।।6.107.25।।

enamāpatsukṛcchreṣukāntāreṣubhayeṣu ca | kīrtayanpuruṣḥkaścināvasīdatirāghava ||6.107.25||

Translation

राघव Raghava, एनम् any one, आपत्सु in straits, कृच्छ्रेषु in difficulties, कान्तारेषु in the woods, भयेषु in times of fear, कीर्तयन् praise, पुरुषः men, कश्चित् surely, नावसीदति will experience grief

Meaning

"O Raghava! Anyone praying to him will surely not experience grief in straits, in difficulties, in the woods and in times of fear.

YK-107-26Yuddha Kanda 107.26

पूजयस्वैनमेकाग्रोदेवदेवंजगत्पतिम् । एतत्त्रिगुणितंजप्त्वायुद्धेषुविजयिष्यसि ।।6.107.26।।

pūjayasvainamekāgrodevadevṃjagatpatim | etattriguṇitṃjaptvāyuddheṣuvijayiṣyasi ||6.107.26||

Translation

जगत्पतिम् Lord of the universe, देवदेवम् Lord of Lords, एनम् him alone, एकाग्रः with concentration, पूजयस्व if you offer prayers, एतत् by that, त्रिगुणितम् three times of the day, जप्त्वा chant, युद्धेषु in war, विजयिष्यसि will attain victory

Meaning

"Worship the Lord of the universe, the Lord of Lords. Worship him alone with concentration of mind, three times of the day by chanting his name. You will attain victory in war."

YK-107-27Yuddha Kanda 107.27

अस्मिन् क्षणेमहाबाहोरावणंत्वंवधिष्यसि । एवमुक्त्वाततोऽगस्त्योजगाम स यथागतम् ।।6.107.27।।

asmin kṣaṇemahābāhorāvaṇṃtvṃvadhiṣyasi | evamuktvātato'gastyojagāma sa yathāgatam ||6.107.27||

Translation

महाबाहो mighty armed, अस्मिन् your, क्षणे this very moment, थ्वम् you, रावणम् Ravana, वधिष्यसि will kill, अगस्त्यः Agastya, एवम् in that way, उक्त्वा having spoken, ततः then, यथागतम् left in the same way जगाम went

Meaning

Agastya having spoken in that way to the mighty armed Rama to worship the Sun God and assuring him that the very moment he will be able to kill Ravana, left in the same way.

YK-107-28Yuddha Kanda 107.28

एतच्छ्रुत्वामहातेजानष्टशोकोऽभवत्तदा । धारयामाससुप्रीतोराघवःप्रयतात्मवान् ।।6.107.28।।

etacchrutvāmahātejānaṣṭaśoko'bhavattadā | dhārayāmāsasuprītorāghavḥprayatātmavān ||6.107.28||

Translation

तदा then, महातेजः extraordinary energy, एतत् being, श्रुत्वा having heard, नष्टशोकः stopped worry, अभवत् became, राघवः Raghava, सुप्रीतः very affectionately, प्रयतात्मवान् greatly delighted, धारयमास remembered and chanted Aditya in his mind

Meaning

Then Rama endowed with extra ordinary energy having heard Agastya, was very delighted and stopped worry. He remembered Aditya and chanted in his mind.

YK-107-29-30Yuddha Kanda 107.29–30 (युग्मम्)

आदित्यंप्रेक्ष्यजप्त्वातुपरंहर्षमवाप्तवान् । त्रिराचम्यशुचिर्भूत्वाधनुरादायवीर्यवान् ।।6.107.29।। रावणंप्रेक्ष्यहृष्टात्मायुद्धार्थंसमुपागमत् । सर्वयत्नेनमहतावधेतस्यधृतोऽभवत् ।।6.107.30।।

ādityṃprekṣyajaptvātuparṃharṣamavāptavān | trirācamyaśucirbhūtvādhanurādāyavīryavān ||6.107.29|| rāvaṇṃprekṣyahṛṣṭātmāyuddhārthṃsamupāgamat | sarvayatnenamahatāvadhetasyadhṛto'bhavat ||6.107.30||

Translation
