YK-21-1Yuddha Kanda 21.1

ततस्सागरवेलायांदर्भानास्तीर्यराघवः । अञ्जलिंप्राङ्मुखःकृत्वाप्रतिशिश्येमहोदधेः ।।6.21.1।। बाहुंभुजगभोगाभमुपधायारिसूदनः ।

tatassāgaravelāyāṃdarbhānāstīryarāghavḥ | añjaliṃprāṅmukhḥkṛtvāpratiśiśyemahodadheḥ ||6.21.1|| bāhuṃbhujagabhogābhamupadhāyārisūdanḥ |

Translation

ततः then, अरिसूदनः one who is a destroyer of his foes, राघवः Raghava, सागरवेलायाम् on the sea shore, दर्भान् on kusa grass, आस्तीर्य spread, महोदधेः great ocean, अञ्जलिम् obeisance, कृत्वा offering, प्राङ्मुखः face turned towards east, भुजगभोगाम् like serpent coiled and resting, बाहुम् shoulders, उपधाय resting upon, प्रतिशिश्ये lay down.

Meaning

Then Raghava the destroyer of foes, offered his obeisance turning his face towards east, spread the kusa grass mat on the seashore and lay down resting his head upon his shoulders like a coiled serpent.

YK-21-2-3Yuddha Kanda 21.2–3 (युग्मम्)

वरकाञ्चनकेयूरमुक्ताप्रवरभूषणैः ।।6.21.2।। भुजैःपरमनारीणामभिमृष्टमनेकदा ।।6.21.3।।

varakāñcanakeyūramuktāpravarabhūṣaṇaiḥ ||6.21.2|| bhujaiḥparamanārīṇāmabhimṛṣṭamanekadā ||6.21.3||

Translation

वरकाञ्चनकेयूरमुक्ताप्रवरभूषणैः armlet adorned with best of gold, pearls and coral ornaments, परमनारीणाम् by supreme women, भुजैः shoulders, अनेकाथा many times, अभिमृष्टम् besmeared.

Meaning

The shoulders that have been adorned with the best of gold, pearl and coral ornaments, were besmeared many times by supreme women.

YK-21-4Yuddha Kanda 21.4

चन्दनागुरुभिश्चैवपुरस्तादधिवासितम् । बालसूर्यप्रकाशैश्चन्दनैरुपशोभितम् ।।6.21.4।।

candanāgurubhiścaivapurastādadhivāsitam | bālasūryaprakāśaiścandanairupaśobhitam ||6.21.4||

Translation

पुरस्तात् earlier, चन्दनागुरुभिश्चैव with sandal paste and Agaru, अधिवासितम् emitting, बालसूर्यप्रकाशैः the brilliance of rising Sun, चन्धनैः sandal, उपशोभितम् very charming.

Meaning

The very charming shoulders, smeared with sandal paste and Agaru fragrance emitting the brilliance of the rising Sun.

YK-21-5Yuddha Kanda 21.5

शयनेचोत्तमाङ्गेनसीतायाश्शोभितंपुरा । तक्षकस्येवसम्भोगगङ्गाजलनिषेचितम् ।।6.21.5।।

śayanecottamāṅgenasītāyāśśobhitṃpurā | takṣakasyevasambhogagaṅgājalaniṣecitam ||6.21.5||

Translation

पुरा earlier, शयने while he slept, सीतायाः Sita's, उत्तमाङ्गेन the best of women, शोभितम् graced, गङ्गाजलनिषेवितम् given bath with waters of Ganga, तक्षकस्य Takshaka's, सम्भोगमिव as if united in delight.

Meaning

(The shoulders) which resembled the coils of Takshaka (in chubbiness) a principal serpent, was graced by Sita while in bed, was bathed by the best of women with waters of Ganga.

YK-21-6Yuddha Kanda 21.6

संयुगेयुगसङ्काशंशत्रूणांशोकवर्धनम् । सुहृदानन्दनंदीर्घंसागरान्तव्यपाश्रयम् ।।6.21.6।।

sṃyugeyugasaṅkāśṃśatrūṇāṃśokavardhanam | suhṛdānandanṃdīrghṃsāgarāntavyapāśrayam ||6.21.6||

Translation

दीर्घम् long, युगसङ्काशम् like the union of Yuga, संयुगे in war, शत्रूणाम् to the enemies, शोकवर्थनम् that which brings grief, सुहृदाम् to friends, नन्दनम् delightful, सागरान्तव्यपाश्रयम् like the earth bound by the ocean on all sides.

Meaning

The shoulders were long like the union of Yugas, which brought grief to the enemies in war and delight to the friends, and like the earth bound by the ocean on all sides.

YK-21-7-9Yuddha Kanda 21.7–9 (त्रिकम्)

असत्याचपुनस्सव्यंज्याघातविगतत्वचम् । दक्षिणोदक्षिणंबाहुंमहापरिघसन्निभम् ।।6.21.7।। गोसहस्रप्रदारंमुपधायमहत्भुजम् । अद्यमेमरणंवादतरणंसागरस्यवा ।।6.21.8।। तिरामोमतिंकृत्वामहाबाहुर्महोदधिम् । अधिशिश्येचविधिवत्प्रयतोनियतोमुनिः ।।6.21.9।।

asatyācapunassavyṃjyāghātavigatatvacam | dakṣiṇodakṣiṇṃbāhuṃmahāparighasannibham ||6.21.7|| gosahasrapradārṃmupadhāyamahatbhujam | adyamemaraṇṃvādataraṇṃsāgarasyavā ||6.21.8|| tirāmomatiṃkṛtvāmahābāhurmahodadhim | adhiśiśyecavidhivatprayatoniyatomuniḥ ||6.21.9||

Translation

महाबाहुः mighty armed, दक्षिणः to left, रामः Rama, अस्यता released, ज्याघातविगतत्वचम् hardened by the large number of arrows released, सव्यम् by it, बाहुम् by the arm, महापरिघसन्निभम् like the iron bar, गोसहस्रप्रदातारम् thousands of cows given as gift, महत् large, दक्षिणम् to the left, भुजम् arm, उपधाय by strokes, अद्य now, मे my, सागरस्य of the ocean तरणंवा or the crossing over, मरणंवा or death, इति thus, धृतिम् determined, कृत्वा having resolved, अत्र and then, विधिवत् accordingly, प्रयतो self restrained, मुनिः sage, नियतः one who is subdued, महादधिम् great ocean, अधिशिश्ये lay down.

Meaning

The mighty armed Rama's arms were hardened like that of iron bars by the large number of arrows received by the left arm and strained by giving thousands of cows as gifts by the right arm. Rama was determined now to cross over the great ocean or meet the sea with death and lay down subdued and restrained like a sage.

YK-21-10Yuddha Kanda 21.10

तस्यरामस्यसुप्तस्यकुशास्तीर्णेमहीतले । नियमादप्रमत्तस्यनिशास्तिस्रोऽतिचक्रमुः ।।6.21.10।।

tasyarāmasyasuptasyakuśāstīrṇemahītale | niyamādapramattasyaniśāstisro'ticakramuḥ ||6.21.10||

Translation

नियमात् with vow, अप्रमत्तस्य kept himself alert, तस्य his, रामस्य Rama's, कुशास्तीर्णे on the kusa grass mat, महीतले on the ground, सुप्तस्य lying down, तिस्रः three, निशाः nights, अतिचक्रमुः rolled fast.

Meaning

As Rama kept himself alert with a vow and lay on the kusa grass m at spread on the ground, three nights rolled fast.

YK-21-11Yuddha Kanda 21.11

सत्रिरात्रोषितस्तत्रनयज्ञोधर्मवत्सलः । उपासततदारामस्सागरंसरितांपतिम् ।।6.21.11।।

satrirātroṣitastatranayajñodharmavatsalḥ | upāsatatadārāmassāgarṃsaritāṃpatim ||6.21.11||

Translation

तदा then, तत्र there, नयज्ञः one having political foresight, धर्मवत्सलः lover of dharma, रामः Rama, त्रीरात्रोषितः spent three nights, सरितांपतिम् Lord of rivers, सागरम् the ocean, उपासत waiting upon.

Meaning

Rama, a lover of dharma, who had political foresight, spent three nights waiting upon the ocean, the Lord of rivers.

YK-21-12Yuddha Kanda 21.12

नचदर्शयतेरूपंमन्दोरामस्यसागरः । प्रयतेनापिरामेणयथार्हमभिपूजितः ।।6.21.12।।

nacadarśayaterūpṃmandorāmasyasāgarḥ | prayatenāpirāmeṇayathārhamabhipūjitḥ ||6.21.12||

Translation

प्रयतेन though selfrestrained, रामेण by Rama, यथार्हम् according to propriety, अभिपूजितः well respected, अपि also, मन्दः dull, सागरः the ocean, रामस्य to Rama, रूपम् real form, नचदर्शयते did not show.

Meaning

Though Rama remained selfrestrained and respected the ocean well according to propriety, the ocean was dull and did not show its real form.

YK-21-13Yuddha Kanda 21.13

समुद्रस्यततःक्रुद्धोरामोरक्तान्तलोचनः । समीपस्थमुवाचेदंलक्ष्मणंशुभलक्ष्मणम् ।।6.21.13।।

samudrasyatatḥkruddhorāmoraktāntalocanḥ | samīpasthamuvācedṃlakṣmaṇṃśubhalakṣmaṇam ||6.21.13||

Translation

ततः then, समुद्रस्य at the ocean, क्रुद्ध: enraged, रक्तान्तलोचनः eyes turned red, रामः Rama, समीपस्थम् went near, शुभलक्षणम् possessed of auspicious marks, लक्ष्मणम् to Lakshmana, इदम् thus, उवाच addressed.

Meaning

Enraged at the ocean, Rama's eyes turned red. He went near Lakshmana who was endowed with auspicious marks and thus addressed.

YK-21-14Yuddha Kanda 21.14

अवलेपस्समुद्रस्यनदर्शयतियत्स्वयम् । प्रशमश्चक्षमाचैवआर्जवंप्रियवादिता ।।6.21.14।। असामर्थ्यंफल्नात्येतेनिर्गुणेषुसतांगुणाः ।

avalepassamudrasyanadarśayatiyatsvayam | praśamaścakṣamācaivaārjavṃpriyavāditā ||6.21.14|| asāmarthyṃphalnātyetenirguṇeṣusatāṃguṇāḥ |

Translation

यः who is it, स्वयम् by himself, नदर्शयति does not show up, समुद्रस्य ocean's, अवलेपः pride, प्रशमश्चैव calmness also, क्षमाचैव with forbearance, आर्जवम् straight forwardness, प्रियवादिता politeness of speech, एते all these, सताम् virtues, गुणाः qualities, निर्गुणेषु without attributes, असामर्थ्यफलाःहि construed indeed as incapability.

Meaning

"Why is it that the ocean does not show up to me? Indeed, calmness, forbearance, straightforwardness, politeness of speech are all attributes of virtuous qualities and one without these attributes are considered incapable."

YK-21-15Yuddha Kanda 21.15

आत्मप्रशंसिनंदृष्टंधृष्टंविपरिथावकम् । सर्वत्रोत्सृष्टदण्डंचलोकस्सत्कुरुतेनरम् ।।6.21.15।।

ātmapraśṃsinṃdṛṣṭṃdhṛṣṭṃviparithāvakam | sarvatrotsṛṣṭadaṇḍṃcalokassatkurutenaram ||6.21.15||

Translation

लोकः the world, आत्मप्रशंसिनम् praising one's own self, दुष्टम् wicked ones, धृष्टम् impudent, विपरिथावकम् an unchaste one, सर्वत्र all over उत्सृष्टदण्डंचनरम् one who goes about with a rod of punishment, सत्कुरुते treat with respect.

Meaning

"Indeed, the world treats one with respect, who praises himself, as an impudent one, an unchaste one and one who goes about with a rod of punishment (not the one who is virtuous)."

YK-21-16Yuddha Kanda 21.16

नसाम्नाशक्यतेकीर्तिर्नसाम्नाशक्यतेयशः । प्राप्तुंलक्ष्मण लोकेऽस्मिन् ञ्जयोवारणमूर्धनि ।।6.21.16।।

nasāmnāśakyatekīrtirnasāmnāśakyateyaśḥ | prāptuṃlakṣmaṇa loke'smin ñjayovāraṇamūrdhani ||6.21.16||

Translation

लक्ष्मण Lakshmana, अस्मिन् in this, लोके world, साम्ना in front, कीर्तिः popularity, प्राप्तुम् is attained, नशक्यते not possible, यशः fame, न not, रणमूर्धनि in battlefront, जयोवा victorious, न not.

Meaning

"O Lakshmana Neither fame nor popularity can win a battle front in this world."

YK-21-17Yuddha Kanda 21.17

अद्यमद्बाणनिर्भग्नैर्मकरैर्मकरानिलयम् । निरुद्धतोयंसौमित्रेप्लवभदिःपश्यसर्वतः ।।6.21.17।।

adyamadbāṇanirbhagnairmakarairmakarānilayam | niruddhatoyṃsaumitreplavabhadiḥpaśyasarvatḥ ||6.21.17||

Translation

सौमित्रे Saumithri, अद्य now, महद्बाणनिर्भग्नैः shattered by my ruthless arrows, प्लवबदिः jumping and floating, मकरैः crocodiles, सर्वतः all over, निरुद्दतोयम् water splashed all sides, मकरालयम् abode of crocodiles, पश्य witness.

Meaning

"Saumithri Witness the crocodiles shattered by my ruthless arrows jumping and floating in the ocean with water splashed on all sides."

YK-21-18Yuddha Kanda 21.18

महाभोगानिमत्स्यानांकरिणांचकराह । भोगिनांपश्यनागानांमयाछिन्नानिलक्ष्मण ।।6.21.18।।

mahābhogānimatsyānāṃkariṇāṃcakarāha | bhogināṃpaśyanāgānāṃmayāchinnānilakṣmaṇa ||6.21.18||

Translation

लक्ष्मण Lakshmana, मया by me, छिन्नानि cut into pieces, भोगिनाम् serpents, नागानां serpents coiled, मत्स्यानाम् fishes, महाभोगानि huge snakes, करिणाम् sea elephants, काराह large, इह now here, पश्य see.

Meaning

"Lakshmana See here the coils of serpents, huge snakes, fish and large sea elephants cut into pieces by me."

YK-21-19Yuddha Kanda 21.19

सशङ्खशुक्तिजालंसमीनमकरंतथा । अद्ययुद्धेनमहतासमुद्रंपरिशोषये ।।6.21.19।।

saśaṅkhaśuktijālṃsamīnamakarṃtathā | adyayuddhenamahatāsamudrṃpariśoṣaye ||6.21.19||

Translation

सशङ्खशुक्तिकाजालम् water with its shells, conchs, तथा so also, समीनमकरम् with fishes and crocodiles, समुद्रम् ocean, अद्य now, महता, great युद्धेन combat, परिशोषये will make it dry.

Meaning

"I shall make the ocean dry up with its shells and conchs, fishes and crocodiles in this great combat."

YK-21-20Yuddha Kanda 21.20

क्षमयाहिसमायुक्तंमामयंमकरालयः । असमर्थंविजानातिधिक् क्षमामीदृशेजने ।।6.21.20।।

kṣamayāhisamāyuktṃmāmayṃmakarālayḥ | asamarthṃvijānātidhik kṣamāmīdṛśejane ||6.21.20||

Translation

क्षमया tolerance, समायुक्तम् remaining, माम् me, आयम् this, मकरालयः abode of fish, असमर्थम् incapable, विजानाति do not know, ईदृशे endowed with such qualities, जने people, क्षमाम् forbearance, धिक् show.

Meaning

"By my being tolerant, this ocean treats me to be incapable. Endowed with such qualities of forbearance, I will show the people (ocean)."

YK-21-21-22Yuddha Kanda 21.21–22 (युग्मम्)

नदर्शयतिसाम्नामेसागरोरूपमात्मनः ।।6.21.21।। चापमानयसौमित्रेशरांश्चाशीविषोपमान् । सागरंशोषयिष्यामिपद् भ्यांयान्तुप्लवङ्गमाः ।।6.21.22।।

nadarśayatisāmnāmesāgarorūpamātmanḥ ||6.21.21|| cāpamānayasaumitreśarāṃścāśīviṣopamān | sāgarṃśoṣayiṣyāmipad bhyāṃyāntuplavaṅgamāḥ ||6.21.22||

Translation

सागरः ocean's, साम्ना to me, मे I, आत्मानम् its own form, नदर्शयिती not shown, सौमित्रे O Saumithri, चापम् bow, आशीविषोषमान् resembling venomous snake, शरांश्च arrows, आनय get, समुद्रम् ocean, शोषयिष्यामि will make it dry, प्लवङ्गमाः all the Vanaras, पद् ब्याम् by foot, यान्तु go.

Meaning

"The ocean has not shown his own form to me. O Lakshmana Get the bow and venomous snake like arrows, I will dry up the ocean and the Vanaras can walk by foot and go."

YK-21-23-24Yuddha Kanda 21.23–24 (युग्मम्)

अद्याक्षोभ्यमपिक्रुद्धःक्षोभयिष्यामिसागरम् । वेलासुकृतमर्यादंसहस्रोर्मिसमाकुलम् ।।6.21.23।। निर्मर्यादंकरिष्यामिसायायिकैर्वरुणालयम् । महार्णवंक्षोभयिष्येमहादानवसङ्कुलम् ।।6.21.24।।

adyākṣobhyamapikruddhḥkṣobhayiṣyāmisāgaram | velāsukṛtamaryādṃsahasrormisamākulam ||6.21.23|| nirmaryādṃkariṣyāmisāyāyikairvaruṇālayam | mahārṇavṃkṣobhayiṣyemahādānavasaṅkulam ||6.21.24||

Translation

क्रुद्ध: made to be angry, अद्य now, अक्षोभ्यमपि even though imperturbable, सागरम् ocean, क्षोभयिष्यामि will torment, वेलासु thousands, कृतमर्यादम् one who has limits, सहस्रोर्मिसमाकुलम् with thousands of waves, वरुणालयम् the ocean, an abode of Lord Varuna, निर्मर्यादम् cross its boundary, सायकैः with arrows, करिष्यामि will make it, महादानवसङ्कुलम् mighty demons, महार्णवम् great ocean, क्षोभयिष्ये will torment.

Meaning

"(The ocean) Having made me angry, now I will torment the ocean even though it is imperturbable and has its limits. I will torment the ocean with its thousands of waves and mighty demons by my arrows and make the ocean cross its boundary."

YK-21-25Yuddha Kanda 21.25

एवमुक्त्वाधनुष्पाणिःक्रोधविस्फारितेक्षणः । बभूवरामोदुर्धर्षोयुगान्तानगिरिवज्वलन् ।।6.21.25।।

evamuktvādhanuṣpāṇiḥkrodhavisphāritekṣaṇḥ | babhūvarāmodurdharṣoyugāntānagirivajvalan ||6.21.25||

Translation

एवम् in that manner, उक्त्वा having spoken, धनुष्पाणिः bows etc. क्रोधविस्फारितेक्षणः with flaming red eyes, रामः Rama, ज्वलन् burning, युगान्तानगिरिव like the flame at the end of the universe, दुर्धर्षः unassailable, बभूव seemed.

Meaning

Having spoken like that, Rama with his flaming red eyes seemed like the flame at the end of the universe and unassailable.

YK-21-26Yuddha Kanda 21.26

सम्पीड्यचधनुर्घोरंकम्पयित्वाशरैर्जगत् । मुमोचविशिखानुग्रान्वज्रानिवशतक्रतुः ।।6.21.26।।

sampīḍyacadhanurghorṃkampayitvāśarairjagat | mumocaviśikhānugrānvajrānivaśatakratuḥ ||6.21.26||

Translation

घोरम् terrific, धनुः bow, सम्पीड्यच bending, शरैः arrow, जगत् universe, कम्पयित्वा making to tremble, शतक्रतुः one who has performed a hundred sacrifices, वज्रानिव like Indra, उग्रान् frightful, विशिखान् arrows, मुमोच released.

Meaning

Bending the terrific bow, he released frightful arrows like Indra (who released thunderbolts) who performed a hundred sacrifices.

YK-21-27Yuddha Kanda 21.27

तेज्वलन्तोमहावेगास्तेजसासायकोत्तमाः । प्रविशन्तिसमुद्रस्यसलिलंत्रस्तपन्नगम् ।।6.21.27।।

tejvalantomahāvegāstejasāsāyakottamāḥ | praviśantisamudrasyasalilṃtrastapannagam ||6.21.27||

Translation

तेजसा glowing in brilliance, ज्वलन्तः flaming, वेगाः speedily, ते that, सायकोत्तमाः best among the arrows, त्रस्तपन्नगम् like the snakes, समुद्रस्य into the ocean, सलिलम् waters, प्रविशन्ति pierced.

Meaning

Glowing in brilliance like flame, the arrows of the best among the arrows pierced like snakes into the water of the ocean.

YK-21-28Yuddha Kanda 21.28

तोयवेगस्समुद्रस्यसनक्रमकरोमहान् । सम्बभूवमहाघोरस्समारुतरवस्तदा ।।6.21.28।।

toyavegassamudrasyasanakramakaromahān | sambabhūvamahāghorassamārutaravastadā ||6.21.28||

Translation

समुद्रस्य ocean's, समीनमकरः with fishes and crocodiles, तदा similarly, समारुतरवः with wind, महान् powerful, सः that, तोयवेगः rush of water, महाघोरः terrible, बभूव seemed.

Meaning

Then the ocean seemed terrible with the fish and crocodiles rushing out with the speed of water and powerful wind.

YK-21-29Yuddha Kanda 21.29

महोर्मिकुलाविततश्शङ्खजालसमावृतः । सधूमःपरिवृत्तोर्मिस्सहसासीन्महोदधिः ।।6.21.29।।

mahormikulāvitataśśaṅkhajālasamāvṛtḥ | sadhūmḥparivṛttormissahasāsīnmahodadhiḥ ||6.21.29||

Translation

सहसा all of a sudden, महोदधिः great ocean, महोर्मिजालचलितः with the movement of the water, शङ्खजालसमावृतः filled with conchs and shells, सधूमः terrific smoke, परिवृत्तोर्मिः whirling round and rising up, आसीत् played around.

Meaning

With the movement of the sea water filled with the conchs and shells suddenly terrific smoke whirling round and rising played around.

YK-21-30Yuddha Kanda 21.30

व्यथिताःपन्नगाश्चासदनीप्तास्यादीप्तलोचनाः । दानवाश्चमहावीर्याःपाताळतलवासिनः ।।6.21.30।।

vyathitāḥpannagāścāsadanīptāsyādīptalocanāḥ | dānavāścamahāvīryāḥpātāळtalavāsinḥ ||6.21.30||

Translation

दीप्तास्याः those blazing, दीप्तलोचनाः ones with glowing eyes, पन्नगाः snakes, पाताळतलवासिनः those who reside in underworld, महावीर्याः highly valiant ones, दानवाश्च and the demons, व्यथित्याः oppressed आसन् became.

Meaning

Those snakes with blazing hoods and glowing eyes residing in the underworld and the demons became oppressed.

YK-21-31Yuddha Kanda 21.31

ऊर्मयस्सिन्धुराजस्यसनक्रमकरास्तथा । विन्द्यमन्दरसङ्काशास्समुत्पेतुस्सहस्रशः ।।6.21.31।।

ūrmayassindhurājasyasanakramakarāstathā | vindyamandarasaṅkāśāssamutpetussahasraśḥ ||6.21.31||

Translation

तथा so also, सिन्दुराजस्य king of rivers, सनक्रमकराः which were like, विन्द्यमन्दरसङ्काशाः Vindhya and Mandara mountain peaks, ऊर्मयः waves, सहस्रशः in thousands, समुत्पेतुः rose up.

Meaning

Thousands of waves of the ocean rose like the peaks of Vindhya and Mandara mountains.

YK-21-32Yuddha Kanda 21.32

आघूर्णिततरङ्गौघस्सम्भ्रान्तोरगराक्षसः । उद्वर्तितमहाग्राहस्संवृत्तस्सलिलाशयः ।।6.21.32।।

āghūrṇitataraṅgaughassambhrāntoragarākṣasḥ | udvartitamahāgrāhassṃvṛttassalilāśayḥ ||6.21.32||

Translation

आघूर्णिततरङ्गौघः the waves tossing and whirling about, सम्भ्रान्तोरगराक्षसः the agitated Nagas and Rakshasas, उद्वर्तितमहाग्राहः thrown up highly disturbed, सलिलाशयः from the waters, सघोषः made great sound.

Meaning

The waves rose up tossing and whirling about. The agitated Nagas and Rakshasas were thrown up by a highly disturbed ocean that produced a great sound.

YK-21-33Yuddha Kanda 21.33

ततस्तुतंराघवमुग्रवेगंप्रकर्षमाणंधनुरप्रमेयम् । सौमित्रिरुत्पत्यसमुच्छवसन्तंमामेतिचोक्त्वादनुराललम्बे ।।6.21.33।।

tatastutṃrāghavamugravegṃprakarṣamāṇṃdhanuraprameyam | saumitrirutpatyasamucchavasantṃmāmeticoktvādanurālalambe ||6.21.33||

Translation

ततः then, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, उत्पत्य got up, उग्रवेगम् at high speed, अप्रमेयम् immeasurably great, धनुः bow, प्रकर्षमाणम् was stretching exceedingly, विनिश्श्वनन्तम् breathing hard in anger, राघवम् at Rama, मामाइति that is enough that is enough, उक्त्वा saying, धनुः bow, आललम्बे seized.

Meaning

Then Saumithri got up and rushed very fast to Rama who was stretching his bow exceedingly and breathing hard in anger and said, 'no more, no more' and seized the bow. ।।इत्यार्षेवाल्मीकीयेश्रीमद्रामायणेआदिकाव्येयुद्धकाण्डेएकविंशस्सर्गः ।। This is the end of the twenty first sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.
