YK-119-1Yuddha Kanda 119.1

एवमुक्तातुवैदेहिपरुषंरोमहर्षणम् । राघवेणसरोषेणश्रुत्वाप्रव्यथिताऽभवत् ।।6.119.1।।

evamuktātuvaidehiparuṣṃromaharṣaṇam | rāghaveṇasaroṣeṇaśrutvāpravyathitā'bhavat ||6.119.1||

Translation

सरोषेण in anger, राघवेण by Raghava, एवम् in that way, परुषम् harsh, रोमहर्षणम् horripilating, उक्ता spoken, वैदेहि Vaidehi, श्रुत्वा having heard, प्रव्यथिता afflicted, अभवत् became

Meaning

Vaidehi heard the harsh horripilating words spoken by Rama in anger and was very much afflicted.

YK-119-2Yuddha Kanda 119.2

सातदश्रुतपूर्वंहिजनेमहतिमैथिली । श्रुत्वाभर्तृर्वचोरूक्षंलज्जयावनताभवत् ।।6.119.2।।

sātadaśrutapūrvṃhijanemahatimaithilī | śrutvābhartṛrvacorūkṣṃlajjayāvanatābhavat ||6.119.2||

Translation

तदा then, सामैथिली she, Mythili, महति large number, जने people, अश्रुतपूर्वम् filled with tears, घोरम् ruthless, भर्तुः husband 's, वचःwords, श्रुत्वा hearing, लज्जया shy, अवनता bent, अभवत् stayed

Meaning

Then Mythili hearing her husband 's harsh words, in the presence of a large number of people, stayed bent with shyness.

YK-119-3Yuddha Kanda 119.3

प्रविशन्तीवगात्राणिस्वानिसाजनकात्मजा । वाक्षरैस्स्सैःसशल्येवभृशमाश्रूण्यवर्तयत् ।।6.119.3।।

praviśantīvagātrāṇisvānisājanakātmajā | vākṣaraisssaiḥsaśalyevabhṛśamāśrūṇyavartayat ||6.119.3||

Translation

साजनकात्मजा she Janaka's daughter, स्वानि her own, गात्राणि limbs, प्रविशन्तीव shrinking, तैःthose, चाक्षरैः from eyes, सशल्येव by the arrows, भृशम् excessively, अश्रूणि tears, अवर्तयत् shed

Meaning

As if pierced by those arrowlike words, Janaka's daughter shed tears excessively, shrinking into her own limbs.

YK-119-4Yuddha Kanda 119.4

ततोबाष्पपरिक्लिन्नंप्रमार्जन्तीस्वमाननम् । शनैर्गद्गदयावाचाभर्तारमिदमब्रवीत् ।।6.119.4।।

tatobāṣpapariklinnṃpramārjantīsvamānanam | śanairgadgadayāvācābhartāramidamabravīt ||6.119.4||

Translation

ततः thereafter, बाष्पपरिक्लिन्नम् flowing tears clean, स्वम् her, आननम् face, प्रमार्जन्ती wiping off, भर्तारम् to husband, गद्गदया in broken tone, वाचा words, शनैः slowly, इदम् thus, अब्रवीत् spoke

Meaning

Thereafter, wiping her face clean from flowing tears she spoke slowly in a choked voice in broken words to her husband.

YK-119-5Yuddha Kanda 119.5

किंमामसदृशंवाक्यमीदृशंश्रोत्रदारुणम् । रूक्षंश्रावयसेवीर प्राकृतःप्राकृतमिव ।।6.119.5।।

kiṃmāmasadṛśṃvākyamīdṛśṃśrotradāruṇam | rūkṣṃśrāvayasevīra prākṛtḥprākṛtamiva ||6.119.5||

Translation

वीर hero, माम् me, प्राकृतः address, प्राकृतामिव like a common man, माम् to me, असदृशम् unkind, ईदृशब् this kind of tone, श्रोत्रदारुणम् harsh to hear, रूक्षम् rude, वाक्यम् words, किम् why, श्रावयसे speaking

Meaning

"Hero! Why are you addressing me in such harsh unkind words in a rude manner, in a harsh tone like a common man?"

YK-119-6Yuddha Kanda 119.6

न तथास्मिमहाबाहो यथामामवगच्छसि । प्रत्ययंगच्छमेस्वेनचारित्रेणैवतेशपे ।।6.119.6।।

na tathāsmimahābāho yathāmāmavagacchasi | pratyayṃgacchamesvenacāritreṇaivateśape ||6.119.6||

Translation

महाबाहो mighty armed, माम् me, यथा similarly, अवगच्छसि not as you think of me, तथा so also, न अस्मिI am not, मे my, प्रत्ययम् proof, गच्छ period, स्वेन myself, चारित्रेण my past, ते to you, शपे vow

Meaning

"O Mighty armed! I am not as you think of me, so also show me a proof of it in my past. I swear on my past."

YK-119-7Yuddha Kanda 119.7

पृथकस्त्रीणांप्रचारेणजातिंत्वंपरिशङ्कसे । परित्यजैनांशङ्कांतुयदितेऽहंपरीक्षिता ।।6.119.7।।

pṛthakastrīṇāṃpracāreṇajātiṃtvṃpariśaṅkase | parityajaināṃśaṅkāṃtuyadite'hṃparīkṣitā ||6.119.7||

Translation

पृथकस्त्रीणां vulgar women, प्रचारेण extending, त्वम् you, जातिम् race, परिशङ्कसे doubting, अहम् I, ते to you, परीक्षितायदि if you have examined, एनाम् these, शङ्काम् doubts, परित्यज give up

Meaning

"You give up judging all womankind by the path followed by vulgar women. You give up these doubts if you have examined."

YK-119-8Yuddha Kanda 119.8

यदहंगात्रसम्पर्शंगतास्मिविशवाप्रभो । कामकारो न मेतत्रदैवंतत्रापराध्यति ।।6.119.8।।

yadahṃgātrasamparśṃgatāsmiviśavāprabho | kāmakāro na metatradaivṃtatrāparādhyati ||6.119.8||

Translation

प्रभो Lord, विवशा helpless, अहम् I am, गात्रसम्पर्शम् touching the limbs, गता in the past, अस्मि by me, इतियत् all this, तत्र there, मे to me, कामकारः acting at will, न not, तत्र there, दैवम् fate, अपराध्यति to be blamed

Meaning

"O Lord! I was helpless when Ravana contacted my limbs in the past. I was not acting according to my will. My fate is to be blamed and not me."

YK-119-9Yuddha Kanda 119.9

मदधीनंतुयत्तन्मेहृदयंत्वयिवर्तते । पराधीनेषुगात्रेषुकिंकरिष्याम्यनीश्वरी ।।6.119.9।।

madadhīnṃtuyattanmehṛdayṃtvayivartate | parādhīneṣugātreṣukiṃkariṣyāmyanīśvarī ||6.119.9||

Translation

यत् that which, मदधीनम् mind under my control, तत् that, मे is my, हृदयंतु heart, त्वयि you, वर्तते abides, पराधीनेषु at others' mercy, गात्रेषु limbs, अनीश्वरी not possible, किम् what, करिष्यामि can I do

Meaning

"That mind which is under my control is my heart and it abides in you. What can I do about my limbs when I am at others' mercy?"

YK-119-10Yuddha Kanda 119.10

सहसम्वृद्धभावेनसंसर्गेण च मानद । यदितेऽहं न विज्ञाताहतातेनास्मिशाश्वतम् ।।6.119.10।।

sahasamvṛddhabhāvenasṃsargeṇa ca mānada | yadite'hṃ na vijñātāhatātenāsmiśāśvatam ||6.119.10||

Translation

मानद honourable, सहसम्वृद्धभावेन by our growing up together with love, संसर्गेणच our intimate relationship, अहम् I, ते to you, न विज्ञातायदि if I am not known, तेन by you, शाश्वतम् permanently, हताअस्मि I am done

Meaning

"Honourable Rama! If I am not understood by you despite our growing up together with love and in spite of our intimate relationship, I am done forever."

YK-119-11Yuddha Kanda 119.11

प्रेषितस्तेमहावीरोहनुमानवलोककः । लङ्कास्थाहंत्वयाराजन्किंतदा न विसर्जिता ।।6.119.11।।

preṣitastemahāvīrohanumānavalokakḥ | laṅkāsthāhṃtvayārājankiṃtadā na visarjitā ||6.119.11||

Translation

राजन् king, महावीरः great hero, हनुमान् Hanuman, अवलोककः to find, ते by you, प्रेषितः sent, लङ्कास्था in Lanka, अहम् I, त्वया by you, तदा then, किम् why, न विसर्जिता did you not leave

Meaning

"King! When the great hero Hanuman was sent by you to find me in Lanka, why did you not leave me then."

YK-119-12Yuddha Kanda 119.12

प्रत्यक्षंवानरस्यास्यतद्वाक्यसमनन्तरम् । त्वयासन्त्यक्तयावीरत्यक्तंस्याजजीवितंमया ।।6.119.12।।

pratyakṣṃvānarasyāsyatadvākyasamanantaram | tvayāsantyaktayāvīratyaktṃsyājajīvitṃmayā ||6.119.12||

Translation

वीर heroic, अस्य your, वानरस्य with Vanara, प्रत्यक्षम् in his presence, तद्वाक्यसमनन्तरम् after your message, त्वया by you, सन्त्यक्तया, मया by me, जीवितम् life, त्यक्तम् given up, स्यात् there itself

Meaning

"O hero! Had you given me up immediately on receiving your message from Vanara I would have given up my life in the presence of Hanuman there itself."

YK-119-13Yuddha Kanda 119.13

न वृथातेश्रमोऽयंस्यात्संशयेन्यस्यजीवितम् । सुहृज्जनपरिक्लेशो न चायंविपुलस्तव ।।6.119.13।।

na vṛthāteśramo'yṃsyātsṃśayenyasyajīvitam | suhṛjjanaparikleśo na cāyṃvipulastava ||6.119.13||

Translation

जीवितम् life, संशये doubt, न्यस्य exertion, ते to you, वृधा wasteful, अयंश्रमः this hard work, न स्यात् perhaps not required, अयम् this, विफलः failure, तव your, सुहृज्जनपरिक्लेशः nor your friends, न च and not

Meaning

"O Life! If you had a doubt this exertion to you is wasteful. This fruitless hard work was perhaps not required on your part nor your friends."

YK-119-14Yuddha Kanda 119.14

त्वयातुनृपशार्दूलदोषमेवानुवर्तता । लघुनेवमनुष्येणस्त्रीत्वमेवपुरस्कृतम् ।।6.119.14।।

tvayātunṛpaśārdūladoṣamevānuvartatā | laghunevamanuṣyeṇastrītvamevapuraskṛtam ||6.119.14||

Translation

नृपशार्दूल tiger among kings, रोषमेव gave yourself to anger, अनुवर्तता following, त्वयातु you also, लघुना weak, मनुष्येणइव like a man, स्त्रीत्वमेव womanliness, प पुरस्कृतम् adopting

Meaning

"O tiger among kings! You also gave up yourself to anger like a weak man and adopted womanliness"

YK-119-15Yuddha Kanda 119.15

अपदेशेनजनकादुत्पततिर्वसुथातलात् । ममवृत्तं च वृत्तज्ञबहुते न पुरस्कृतम् ।।6.119.15।।

apadeśenajanakādutpatatirvasuthātalāt | mamavṛttṃ ca vṛttajñabahute na puraskṛtam ||6.119.15||

Translation

वृत्तज्ञ divine birth, अपदेशेव mentioned, जनकात् birth, वसुधातलात् in the ground, उत्पततिः risen, मम me, बहु many, वृत्तं च divine origin, ते you, पुरस्कृतम् considered

YK-119-16Yuddha Kanda 119.16

न प्रमाणीकृतंपाणिर्भाल्येममनिपीडितः । ममभक्तिश्चशीलं च सर्वंतेपृष्ठतःकृतम् ।।6.119.16।।

na pramāṇīkṛtṃpāṇirbhālyemamanipīḍitḥ | mamabhaktiścaśīlṃ ca sarvṃtepṛṣṭhatḥkṛtam ||6.119.16||

Translation

बाल्ये young, निपीडितः pressed, ममपाणिः my hand, न प्रमाणीकृतः as a mark of acceptance, मम my, भक्तिश्च with devotion, शीलं च my character, सर्वम् all, ते to you, पृष्ठतः chastity, कृतम् not taken into account

Meaning

"When in my young age you held my hand as a mark of acceptance (in our marriage), has it not been considered by you? Has my devotion, character and chastity not been taken into account?"

YK-119-17Yuddha Kanda 119.17

इतिब्रुवन्तीरुदतीबाष्पगद्गगभाषिणी । उवाचलक्ष्मणंसीतादीनंध्यानपरायणम् ।।6.119.17।।

itibruvantīrudatībāṣpagadgagabhāṣiṇī | uvācalakṣmaṇṃsītādīnṃdhyānaparāyaṇam ||6.119.17||

Translation

इति thus, बृवन्ती speaking, रूदती weeping, बाष्पगद्गदभाषिणी with tears and choked throat, सीता Sita, दीनम् piteous, ध्यानपरायणम् absorbed in mind, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, उवाच spoke

Meaning

Thus speaking, and weeping with tears, with choked throat, Sita was absorbed in her mind and piteous. She spoke to Lakshmana.

YK-119-18Yuddha Kanda 119.18

चितांमेकुरुसौमित्रेव्यवनस्यास्यभेषजम् । मिध्यापवादोपहतानाहंजीवितुमुत्सहे ।।6.119.18।।

citāṃmekurusaumitrevyavanasyāsyabheṣajam | midhyāpavādopahatānāhṃjīvitumutsahe ||6.119.18||

Translation

सौमित्रे Saumithri, मे I, अस्य this, व्यसनस्य sorrow, भेषजम् cure, चिताम् pyre, कुरु arrange, मिथ्यापवादोपहता false reproaches, अहम् I, जीवितुम् to live, न उत्सहे not desire

Meaning

"Saumithri! Cure for this sorrow is only pyre. Arrange for pyre as I do not desire to live with false reproaches."

YK-119-19Yuddha Kanda 119.19

अप्रीतेनगुणैर्भर्त्रात्यक्तायाजनसंसदि । याक्षमामेगतिर्गन्तुंप्रवेक्ष्येहव्यवाहनम् ।।6.119.19।।

aprītenaguṇairbhartrātyaktāyājanasṃsadi | yākṣamāmegatirgantuṃpravekṣyehavyavāhanam ||6.119.19||

Translation

गुणैः virtues, अप्रीतेन not pleased, भर्त्रा husband, जनसंसदि gathering of people, त्यक्तायाः left out, मे I, या that, गतिः path, गन्तुम् will go, क्षमा tolerance, हव्यवाहनम् offer myself to oblations, प्रवेक्ष्यामि will enter fire

Meaning

"When my husband is not pleased with my virtues, renounces me in the gathering of people, I have only that path for me, that is, entering fire and offering myself as oblation."

YK-119-20Yuddha Kanda 119.20

एवमुक्तस्तुवैदेह्यालक्ष्मणःपरवीरहा । अमर्षवशमापन्नोराघवंसमुदैक्षत ।।6.119.20।।

evamuktastuvaidehyālakṣmaṇḥparavīrahā | amarṣavaśamāpannorāghavṃsamudaikṣata ||6.119.20||

वैदेह्या by Vaidehi, एवम् in that manner, उक्तः spoken, परवीरहा destroyer of enemies, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, अमर्षवशम् with indignation, आपन्नः overcome, राघवम् Raghava, समुदैक्षत looked at

Meaning

Spoken in that manner by Vaidehi, Lakshmana, the destroyer of enemies, overcome with indignation looked at Raghava.

YK-119-21Yuddha Kanda 119.21

स विज्ञायततश्छन्दंरामस्याकारसूचितम् । चितांचकारसौमित्रिर्मतेरामस्यवीर्यवान् ।।6.119.21।।

sa vijñāyatataśchandṃrāmasyākārasūcitam | citāṃcakārasaumitrirmaterāmasyavīryavān ||6.119.21||

Translation

वीर्यवान् valiant, सःसौमित्रिः Saumithri, रामस्य Rama's, आकारसूचितम् indication from his looks, ततश्छन्दम् accordingly, विज्ञाय understanding, रामस्य Rama's, मते earth, चिताम् pyre, चकार started

Meaning

Understanding Rama's indication from his looks, Saumithri started to prepare the earth for pyre.

YK-119-22Yuddha Kanda 119.22

नहिरामंतदाकश्चित्कालान्तकयमोपमम् । अनुनेतुमथोवक्तुंद्रष्टुंवाप्यशकत्सुहृत् ।।6.119.22।।

nahirāmṃtadākaścitkālāntakayamopamam | anunetumathovaktuṃdraṣṭuṃvāpyaśakatsuhṛt ||6.119.22||

Translation

तदा there upon, कालान्तकयमोपमम् like Yama the god of death, रामम् Rama, कश्चित् indeed, सुहृत् no one dear to him, अनुनेतुम् make a request, अथो so also, वक्तुम् speak, द्रष्टुंवापि or see, न अशकत् हि not pacify

Meaning

Indeed, no friend or dear could see or speak or make a request or pacify Rama. at that time.

YK-119-23Yuddha Kanda 119.23

अधोमुखंस्थितंरामंततःकृत्वाप्रदक्षिणम् । उपावर्ततवैदेहीदीप्यमानंहुताशनम् ।।6.119.23।।

adhomukhṃsthitṃrāmṃtatḥkṛtvāpradakṣiṇam | upāvartatavaidehīdīpyamānṃhutāśanam ||6.119.23||

Translation

ततः thereafter, वैदेही Vaidehi, अधोमुखम् walking clockwise, स्थितम् stood, रामम् at Rama, प्रदक्षिणंकृत्वा went round in accordance with tradition, दीप्यमानम् glowing, हुताशनम् pyre, उपावर्तत approached

Meaning

Thereafter, Vaidehi, walking clockwise near Rama went round him in accordance with tradition and approached the pyre.

YK-119-24Yuddha Kanda 119.24

प्रणम्यदैवतेभ्यश्चब्राह्मणेभ्यश्चमैथिली । बद्धाञ्जलिपुटाचेदमुवाचानगिसमीपतः ।।6.119.24।।

praṇamyadaivatebhyaścabrāhmaṇebhyaścamaithilī | baddhāñjalipuṭācedamuvācānagisamīpatḥ ||6.119.24||

Translation

मैथिली Mythili, दैवतेभ्यश्च even to gods, ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च brahmanas, प्रणम्य greeting with joined palms, अनगिसमीपतः near fire, बद्धाञ्जलिपुटा again joining her palms, इदम् this, उवाच च spoke

Meaning

Mythili greeted the gods and brahmanas with joined palms and went near fire and again joined her palms in greeting and spoke as follows.

YK-119-25Yuddha Kanda 119.25

यथामेहृदयंनित्यंनापसर्पतिराघवात् । तथालोकस्यसाक्षीमांसर्वतःपातुपावकः ।।6.119.25।।

yathāmehṛdayṃnityṃnāpasarpatirāghavāt | tathālokasyasākṣīmāṃsarvatḥpātupāvakḥ ||6.119.25||

Translation

मे my, हृदयम् mind, राघवात् at Raghava, नापसर्पतियथा never slid at all, तथा so also, लोकस्य world's, साक्षी witness, पावकः fire god, माम् me, सर्वतःalways, पातु protect me

Meaning

"If it is true that my heart has never slid from Raghava at all, may the fire god protect me always and so also the world witness."

YK-119-26Yuddha Kanda 119.26

यथामांशुद्धचरितांदुष्टांजानातिराघवः । तथालोकस्यसाक्षीमांसर्वतःपातुपावकः ।।6.119.26।।

yathāmāṃśuddhacaritāṃduṣṭāṃjānātirāghavḥ | tathālokasyasākṣīmāṃsarvatḥpātupāvakḥ ||6.119.26||

Translation

शुद्धचरिताम् unimpeachable conduct, माम् me, राघवः Raghava, दुष्टाम् seeing, जानाति not know, यथा similarly, तथा that way, लोकस्य world, साक्षी witness, पावकः fire, सर्वतः all sides, माम् me, पातु protect me

Meaning

"If in Rama's view, I am of impeccable conduct and so also if what he is seeing is not known to be true, let the world witness and fire god protect me."

YK-119-27Yuddha Kanda 119.27

कर्मणामनसावाचायथानातिचराम्यहम् । राघवंसर्वधर्मज्ञंतथामांपातुपावकः ।।6.119.27।।

karmaṇāmanasāvācāyathānāticarāmyaham | rāghavṃsarvadharmajñṃtathāmāṃpātupāvakḥ ||6.119.27||

Translation

अहम् I, कर्मणा by action, मनसा at heart, वाचा in speech, सर्वधर्मज्ञम् knower of all virtues, राघवम् Raghava, यथानातिचरामि that way not walked the path of virtue, यथा so also, माम् me, पावकः fire god, पातु protect me

Meaning

'If I have ever acted or been unfaithful at heart or in speech and did not follow a righteous path with Rama, who is a knower of all virtues, let the fire god protect me."

YK-119-28Yuddha Kanda 119.28

आदित्योभगवान्वायुर्धिशश्चन्द्रस्तथैव च । अहश्चापितथासन्ध्येरात्रिश्चपृथिवीतथआ ।।6.119.28।। यथान्येऽपिविजानन्तितथाचारित्रसंयुताम् ।

ādityobhagavānvāyurdhiśaścandrastathaiva ca | ahaścāpitathāsandhyerātriścapṛthivītathaā ||6.119.28|| yathānye'pivijānantitathācāritrasṃyutām |

Translation

भगवान् O god, आदित्यः Aditya, वायुः wind god, दिशः god of the four quarters, तथैव च by you, चन्द्रः moon, अहश्चापि me, सन्ध्ये twilight, रात्रिश्च night, तथा so also, पृथिवी earth, अन्येऽपि and other gods, चारित्रसम्युताम् woman of character, विजानन्ति accept यथा similarly, तथा let it happen that way

Meaning

"O gods! Supreme Aditya, wind god, god of the four quarters, and also by moon, and gods presiding during day, night, twilight and so also earth, know me as a woman of good character, let the fire god protect me that way."

YK-119-29Yuddha Kanda 119.29

एवमुक्त्वातुवैदेहीपरिक्रम्यहुताशनम् । विवेशज्वलनंदीप्तंनिःशङ्केनान्तरात्मना ।।6.119.29।।

evamuktvātuvaidehīparikramyahutāśanam | viveśajvalanṃdīptṃniḥśaṅkenāntarātmanā ||6.119.29||

Translation

वैदेही Vaidehi, एवम् in that manner, उक्त्वा spoken, हुताशनम् pyre, परिक्रम्य went round, निःशङ्केन fearless, अन्तरात्मना absorbed in self, दीप्तम् flaming, ज्वलनम् burning, विवेशळ entered

Meaning

Having spoken in that way, Vaidehi went round fire fearlessly, absorbed with in herself and entered the flaming and burning fire.

YK-119-30Yuddha Kanda 119.30

नश्चसुमहांस्तत्रबालवृद्धसमाकुलः ।।6.119.30।। ददर्शमैथिलींदीप्तांप्रविशन्तींहुताशनम् ।

naścasumahāṃstatrabālavṛddhasamākulḥ ||6.119.30|| dadarśamaithilīṃdīptāṃpraviśantīṃhutāśanam |

Translation

तत्र there, बालवृद्धसमाकुलः young and old assembled, सुमहान् gathering, जनश्च people, हुताशनम् fire, प्रविशन्तीम् entering, दीप्ताम् flaming, मैथिलीम् Mythili, ददर्श witnessed

Meaning

Young and old assembled there, and the gathering of people witnessed Mythili entering the flaming and burning fire.

YK-119-31Yuddha Kanda 119.31

सातप्तनवहेमाभातप्तकाञ्चनभूषणा ।।6.119.31।। पपातज्वलनंदीप्तंसर्वलोकस्यसन्निधौ ।

sātaptanavahemābhātaptakāñcanabhūṣaṇā ||6.119.31|| papātajvalanṃdīptṃsarvalokasyasannidhau |

Translation

तप्तनवहेमाभा like polished gold, तप्तकाञ्चनभूषणा like shining ornament of gold, सा she, सर्वलोकस्य total world, सन्निधौ presence, दीप्तम् flaming, ज्वलनम् glowing, पपात fell

Meaning

Like freshly polished gold, like shining gold ornament, in the presence of the whole world she fell into flaming and glowing fire.

dadṛśustāṃviśālākṣīṃpatantīṃhavyavāhanam ||6.119.32|| sītāṃsarvāṇirūpāṇirukmavedinibhāṃtadā |

Translation

विशालाक्षीम् large eyed goddess of fortune, हन्यवाहनम् on her vehicle, पतन्तीम् descending, रुक्मवेदिनिभाम् golden altar, तांसीताम् her, Sita, सर्वाणि all beings, रूपाणि forms, ददृशुः witnessed

Meaning

All created beings and forms witnessed large eyed Sita descending on the golden altar, into the fire like goddess of fortune descending on her vehicle.

YK-119-33Yuddha Kanda 119.33

ददृशुस्तांमहाभागांप्रविशन्तींहुताशनम् ।।6.119.33।। सीतांकृत्स्नास्त्रयोलोकाःपुण्यामाज्याहुतीमिव ।

dadṛśustāṃmahābhāgāṃpraviśantīṃhutāśanam ||6.119.33|| sītāṃkṛtsnāstrayolokāḥpuṇyāmājyāhutīmiva |

Translation

हुताशनम् fire, प्रविशन्तीम् entering, महाभागाम् noble, तांसीताम् Sita, कृत्स्नाः dark, त्रयः three, लोकाः worlds, पुण्याम् blessed, आज्याहुतीमिव like ghee offered to fire, ददृशुः witnessed

Meaning

All the three worlds witnessed noble dark Sita entering the fire, like ghee offered to fire.

YK-119-34Yuddha Kanda 119.34

प्रचुक्रुशुःस्त्रियःसर्वास्तांदृष्टवाहव्यवाहवे ।।6.119.34।। पतन्तींसंस्कृतांमन्रन्स्सैर्वसोर्दारामिवाध्वरे ।

pracukruśuḥstriyḥsarvāstāṃdṛṣṭavāhavyavāhave ||6.119.34|| patantīṃsṃskṛtāṃmanranssairvasordārāmivādhvare |

Translation

अध्वरे priests, मन्स्सरैः recitation of sacred verses, संस्कृताम् traditionally, वसोः dwelling there, धारामिव like the flow, हव्यवाहवे in sacrificial fire, पतन्तीम् falling, ताम् her, दृष्टवा seeing, सर्वाः all, स्त्रियःwomen, प्रचुक्रुशुःfled screaming

Meaning

All the women who stood there fled, screaming on seeing Sita falling into fire, like the flow of ghee poured continuously into sacrificial fire reciting sacred verses by priests.

ददृशुस्तांत्रयोलोकादेवगन्धर्वदानवाः ।।6.119.35।। शस्तांपतन्तींनिरयेत्रिविवाद्धेवतामिव ।

dadṛśustāṃtrayolokādevagandharvadānavāḥ ||6.119.35|| śastāṃpatantīṃnirayetrivivāddhevatāmiva |

Translation

त्रयः three, लोकाः worlds, देवगन्धर्वदानवाः Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas, शस्ताम् extolled her, निरये hell, त्रिदिवात् three worlds, पतन्तीम् fallen, देवतामिव like goddess, ताम् they, ददृशुः saw

Meaning

All the Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas of the three worlds who witnessed her falling, extolled her as if goddess was falling from heaven into hell.
