YK-56-1Yuddha Kanda 56.1

तद्दृष्टवासुमहत्कर्मकृतंवानरतस्तमैः । क्रोधमाहारयामासयुधितीव्रमकम्पनः ।।6.56.1।।

taddṛṣṭavāsumahatkarmakṛtṃvānaratastamaiḥ | krodhamāhārayāmāsayudhitīvramakampanḥ ||6.56.1||

Translation

अकम्पनः Akampana, युधि in battle, वानरसत्तमैः foremost of Vanaras, कृतम् accomplishment, तत् that, सुमहत् great, कर्म action, दृष्टवा observing, तीव्रम् violent, क्रोधम् angry, आहारयामास exhibiting.

Meaning

Observing the great action and accomplishment of the foremost Vanaras in the battle, Akampana exhibited violent anger.

YK-56-2Yuddha Kanda 56.2

क्रोधमूर्चितरूपस्तुधून्वन्परमकार्मुकम् । दृष्टवातुकर्मशत्रूणांसारथिंवाक्यमब्रवीत् ।।6.56.2।।

krodhamūrcitarūpastudhūnvanparamakārmukam | dṛṣṭavātukarmaśatrūṇāṃsārathiṃvākyamabravīt ||6.56.2||

Translation

शत्रूणाम् by enemies, कर्म deeds, दृष्टवा looking, क्रोधमूर्चितरूपः exhibited violent anger, परमकार्मुकम् highly furious, धून्वन् bow, सारथिम् charioteer, वाक्यम् words, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Meaning

Looking at the deeds of enemies, deluded with violent anger, Akampana spoke these words holding the bow and looking at the charioteer.

YK-56-3Yuddha Kanda 56.3

तत्त्त्वैतावत्त्वरितंरथंप्रापयसारथे । यत्रैतेबहवोघ्नन्तिसुबहून्राक्षसान्रणे ।।6.56.3।।

tatttvaitāvattvaritṃrathṃprāpayasārathe | yatraitebahavoghnantisubahūnrākṣasānraṇe ||6.56.3||

Translation

सारथे O Charioteer, यत्र there, बहव: many, एते those, रणे in battle, सुबहून् many, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, घ्नन्ति destroyed, त्वरितः quickly, तत्त्रैव to that place, रथम् chariot, प्रापय drive.

Meaning

"O Charioteer, quickly drive the chariot to that place where many Rakshasas are destroyed in the battle."

YK-56-4Yuddha Kanda 56.4

एतेऽत्रबलवन्तोहिभीमकोपाश्चवानराः । द्रुमशैलप्रहरणास्तिष्ठन्तिप्रमुखेमम ।।6.56.4।।

ete'trabalavantohibhīmakopāścavānarāḥ | drumaśailapraharaṇāstiṣṭhantipramukhemama ||6.56.4||

Translation

बलवन्तः mighty, भीमकोपाश्च terribly angry, एते those, वानराः Vanara, द्रुमशैलप्रहरणाः using trees and hillocks as weapons, अत्र there, मम my, प्रमुखे chiefs, तिष्ठन्तिहि stand.

Meaning

"Those Vanaras are mighty and terribly angry. They are using trees and hillocks as weapons. Take me where chiefs are standing."

YK-56-5Yuddha Kanda 56.5

एतान्निहन्तुमिच्छामिसमरश्लाघिनोह्यहम् । एतैःप्रमथितंसर्वंदृश्यतेराक्षसांबलम् ।।6.56.5।।

etānnihantumicchāmisamaraślāghinohyaham | etaiḥpramathitṃsarvṃdṛśyaterākṣasāṃbalam ||6.56.5||

Translation

अहम् I, समरश्लाघिनः boast of their warfare, एतान् them, निहन्तुम् will finish, इच्छामि desire to, रक्षसाम् Rakshasas, सर्वम् all, बलम् army, एतैः in the same way, प्रमथिम् end, दृश्यते wish to see.

Meaning

"I wish to see the end of Vanaras who boast of their warfare. The entire Rakshasa army is destroyed by them."

YK-56-6Yuddha Kanda 56.6

ततःप्रजवनाश्वेनरथेनरथिनांवरः । हरीनभ्यहनत्क्रोधाच्छरजालैकम्पनः ।।6.56.6।।

tatḥprajavanāśvenarathenarathināṃvarḥ | harīnabhyahanatkrodhāccharajālaikampanḥ ||6.56.6||

Translation

ततः then, रथिनाम् on the chariot, वरः foremost, अकम्पनः Akampana, प्रचलिताश्वेन by fast moving horses, रथेन from chariot, शरजालैः network of arrows, त्क्रोधात् enraged, हरीन् Vanaras, अभ्यहनत् assailed.

Meaning

Then Akampana seated in the chariot drawn by fast moving horses, assailed the Vanaras with a network of arrows.

YK-56-7Yuddha Kanda 56.7

नस्थातुंवानराश्शेकुःकिंपुनर्योद्धुमाहवे । अकम्पनशरैर्भग्नास्सर्वएवविदुद्रुवुः ।।6.56.7।।

nasthātuṃvānarāśśekuḥkiṃpunaryoddhumāhave | akampanaśarairbhagnāssarvaevavidudruvuḥ ||6.56.7||

Translation

वानराः Vanaras, आहवे counter, स्थातुम् to stand, नशेकुः not fight, योद्धुम् in battle, किंपुनः What to say again, सर्वेएव all, अकम्पनशरैः by Akampana's arrows, भग्नाः shattered, विदुद्रुवुः took to their heels.

Meaning

The Vanaras could not counter or stand nor fight in battle. What to say more? Shattered by Akampana's arrows, they all took to their heels.

YK-56-8Yuddha Kanda 56.8

तान्मृत्युवशमापन्नानकम्पनवंशगतान् । समीक्ष्यहनुमान्ज्ञातीनुपतस्थेमहाबलः ।।6.56.8।।

tānmṛtyuvaśamāpannānakampanavṃśagatān | samīkṣyahanumānjñātīnupatasthemahābalḥ ||6.56.8||

Translation

अकम्पनवंशगतान् kith and kin fallen under the sway of Akampana, मृत्युवशम् sway of death, आपन्नान् caught by, तान् them, ज्ञातीन् kin, समीक्ष्य observing, महाबलः mighty, हनुमान् Hanuman, उपतस्थे approached.

Meaning

Having observed that Vanaras are fallen under the sway of Akampana and under the sway of death, mighty Hanuman approached Akampana.

YK-56-9Yuddha Kanda 56.9

तंमहाप्लवगंदृष्टवासर्वेतेप्लवगयूथपा: । समेत्यसमरेवीरास्सहिताःपर्यवारयन् ।।6.56.9।।

tṃmahāplavagṃdṛṣṭavāsarveteplavagayūthapā: | sametyasamarevīrāssahitāḥparyavārayan ||6.56.9||

Translation

वीराः hero, ते you, सर्वे all, प्लवगयूतपा: troops of Vanaras, महाप्लवगम् great monkey, तम् him, दृष्टवा seeing, समेत्य together, सहिताः along with, पर्यवारयन् surrounded.

Meaning

Seeing the great monkey, the Vanara troops got together and surrounded him.

YK-56-10Yuddha Kanda 56.10

अवस्थितंहनूमन्तंतेदृष्टवाहरियूथपा: । बभूवुर्बलवन्तोहिबलवन्तंसमाश्रिताः ।।6.56.10।।

avasthitṃhanūmantṃtedṛṣṭavāhariyūthapā: | babhūvurbalavantohibalavantṃsamāśritāḥ ||6.56.10||

Translation

ते to you, हरियूथपा: monkey leaders, अवस्थितम् firmly established, हनूमन्तम् Hanuman, दृष्टवा seeing, बलवन्तम् strong, समाश्रिताः taken shelter, बभूवुः became.

Meaning

Seeing Hanuman, the monkey leaders took their shelter under him, got established firmly and became strong.

YK-56-11Yuddha Kanda 56.11

अकम्पनस्तुशैलाभंहनूमन्तमवस्थितम् । महेन्द्रइवदाराभिश्शरैरभिववर्षह ।।6.56.11।।

akampanastuśailābhṃhanūmantamavasthitam | mahendraivadārābhiśśarairabhivavarṣaha ||6.56.11||

Translation

अकम्पनस्तु Akampana also, अवस्थितम् established, शैलाभम् like a mountain, हनूमन्तम् Hanumantha, धाराभिः torrents, महेन्द्रःइव like Indra, शरैः arrows, अभिनवर्षह showered rain.

Meaning

On Akampana, who was well established like a mountain, mighty Hanuman showered torrents of arrows like Indra showered rain.

YK-56-12Yuddha Kanda 56.12

अचिन्तयित्वाबाणौघान् शरीरेपतितान्शितान् । अकम्पनवधार्थायमनोदध्रेमहाबलः ।।6.56.12।।

acintayitvābāṇaughān śarīrepatitānśitān | akampanavadhārthāyamanodadhremahābalḥ ||6.56.12||

Translation

महाबलः mighty, शितान् pierced, शरीरे in the body, पतितान् fallen, बाणौघान् volley of arrows, अचिन्तयित्वा un mindful, अकम्पनवधार्थाय for destroying Akampana, मनः mind, दध्रे thought.

Meaning

Mighty Hanuman unmindful of the volley of arrows pierced in his body thought in his mind only about the destruction of Akampana.

YK-56-13Yuddha Kanda 56.13

सप्रहस्यमहातेजाहनुमान् मारुतात्मजः । अभिदुद्रावतद्रक्षःकम्पयन्निवमेदिनीम् ।।6.56.13।।

saprahasyamahātejāhanumān mārutātmajḥ | abhidudrāvatadrakṣḥkampayannivamedinīm ||6.56.13||

Translation

महातेजाः highly energetic, मारुतात्मजः son of Maruti, सः he, हनुमान् Hanuman, प्रहस्य laughing, मेदिनीम् earth, कम्पयन्निव to shake, तत् रक्षः to that Rakshasa, अभिदुद्राव sprung up.

Meaning

Hanuman, the highly energetic son of Maruthi laughing, sprung up causing the earth to shake and rushed to that Rakshasa.

YK-56-14Yuddha Kanda 56.14

तस्याभिनर्दमानस्यदीप्यमानस्यतेजसा । बभूवरूपंदुर्धर्षंदीप्तस्येवविभावसोः ।।6.56.14।।

tasyābhinardamānasyadīpyamānasyatejasā | babhūvarūpṃdurdharṣṃdīptasyevavibhāvasoḥ ||6.56.14||

Translation

अभि super, नर्दमानस्य as he roared, तेजसा brilliance, दीप्यमानस्य blazing, तस्य his, रूपम् form, दीप्तस्य burning, विभावसोःइव like, दुर्धर्षम् formidable to win, बभूव became.

Meaning

As he roared, his brilliance was blazing, his form was burning and became formidable for others to be at him.

YK-56-15Yuddha Kanda 56.15

आत्मानंमप्रहरणंज्ञात्वाक्रोधसमन्वितः । शैलमुत्पाटयामासवेगेनहरिपुङ्गवः ।।6.56.15।।

ātmānṃmapraharaṇṃjñātvākrodhasamanvitḥ | śailamutpāṭayāmāsavegenaharipuṅgavḥ ||6.56.15||

Translation

हरिपुङ्गवः Vanara leader, आत्मानम् himself, अप्रहरणम् without any weapon, ज्ञात्वा knowing, क्रोधसमन्वितः full of anger, वेगेन quickly, शैलम् mountain, उत्पाटयामास took up.

Meaning

Vanara leader himself knowing that he is without any weapon, full of anger took up a mountain quickly.

YK-56-16Yuddha Kanda 56.16

गृहीत्वातंमहाशैलंपाणिनैकेनमारुतिः । सविनद्यमहानादंभ्रामयामासवीर्यवान् ।।6.56.16।।

gṛhītvātṃmahāśailṃpāṇinaikenamārutiḥ | savinadyamahānādṃbhrāmayāmāsavīryavān ||6.56.16||

Translation

सः he, वीर्यवान् heroic, मारुतिः Maruthi, एकेन alone, पाणिना by hand, सुमहाशैलम् huge mountain, गृहीत्वा taking hold, महानादम् loud noise, विनद्य whirled, भ्रामयामास round.

Meaning

He, the heroic Maruthi, with one hand alone taking a huge mountain whirled round making loud noises.

YK-56-17Yuddha Kanda 56.17

ततस्तमभिदुद्रावराक्षसेन्द्रमकम्पनम् । पुराहिनमुचिंसङ् ख्येवज्रेणेवपुरन्दरः ।।6.56.17।।

tatastamabhidudrāvarākṣasendramakampanam | purāhinamuciṃsaṅ khyevajreṇevapurandarḥ ||6.56.17||

Translation

ततः then, पुरा earlier, पुरन्दरः Indra, सङ् ख्ये rushed, वज्रेण with thunderbolt, नमुचिमिव like Namuchi, राक्षसेन्द्रम् Rakshasa king, तम् him, अकम्पनम् Akampanam, अभिदुद्राव tormented.

Meaning

Then he went to Akampana and tormented him just as Indra did with his thunderbolt to Namuchi.

YK-56-18Yuddha Kanda 56.18

अकम्पनस्तुतद्दृष्टवागिरिशृङ्गंसमुद्यतम् । दूरादेवमहाबाणैरर्धचन्द्रैर्व्यदारयत् ।।6.56.18।।

akampanastutaddṛṣṭavāgiriśṛṅgṃsamudyatam | dūrādevamahābāṇairardhacandrairvyadārayat ||6.56.18||

Translation

अकम्पनस्तु Akampana too, समुद्यतम् uplifted, तत् that, गिरिशृङ्गम् peak of mountain, दृष्टवा seeing, दूरादेव from distance, अर्धचन्द्रैः halfmoon, महाबाणैः great arrows, व्यदारयत् discharged.

Meaning

Seeing the peak of the mountain uplifted, Akampana also discharged halfmoon shaped great arrows from a distance.

YK-56-19Yuddha Kanda 56.19

तत्पर्वताग्रमाकाशेरक्षोबाणविदारितम् । विकीर्णंपतितंदृष्टवाहनुमान्क्रोधमूर्छितः ।।6.56.19।।

tatparvatāgramākāśerakṣobāṇavidāritam | vikīrṇṃpatitṃdṛṣṭavāhanumānkrodhamūrchitḥ ||6.56.19||

Translation

आकाशे in the sky, रक्षोबाणविदारितम् by Rakshasa's arrows broken, विकीर्णम् into pieces, पतितम् fallen, तत् that, पर्वताग्रम् peak of mountain, दृष्टवा gazing, हनुमान् Hanuman, क्रोधमूर्छितः deluded with anger.

Meaning

Hanuman seeing the peak of the mountain broken into pieces by Rakshasa's arrows and fallen was deluded with anger.

YK-56-20Yuddha Kanda 56.20

सोऽश्वकर्णंसमासाद्यरोषदर्पान्वितोहरिः । तूर्णमुत्पाटयामासमहागिरिमिवोच्छ्रितम् ।।6.56.20।।

so'śvakarṇṃsamāsādyaroṣadarpānvitohariḥ | tūrṇamutpāṭayāmāsamahāgirimivocchritam ||6.56.20||

Translation

सः he, हरिः monkey, रोषदर्पान्वितः pride and anger, महागिरिमिव like a big mountain, उच्छ्रितम् collecting, अश्वकर्णम् Aswakarana tree, समासाद्य holding, तूर्णम् quickly, उत्पाटयामास uprooted.

Meaning

He (Hanuman) filled with pride and anger quickly uprooted an Aswakarana tree as huge as a mountain and held it.

YK-56-21Yuddha Kanda 56.21

तंगृहीत्वामहास्कन्धंसोऽश्वकर्णंमहाद्युतिः । प्रहस्यपरयाप्रीत्याभ्रामयामासभूतले ।।6.56.21।।

tṃgṛhītvāmahāskandhṃso'śvakarṇṃmahādyutiḥ | prahasyaparayāprītyābhrāmayāmāsabhūtale ||6.56.21||

Translation

महाद्युतिः endowed with great splendour, सः he, महास्कन्धम् with huge trunk, अश्वकर्णम् Aswakarana tree, गृहीत्वा seizing, परया great, प्रीत्या with delight, प्रहस्य laughing, भूतले on the ground, भ्रामयामास whirled it round.

Meaning

He (Hanuman) endowed with great splendour, seizing a huge trunk of Aswakarana tree with great delight, whirled it round on the ground laughing.

YK-56-22Yuddha Kanda 56.22

प्रधावन्नूरुवेगेनप्रभञ्जंस्तरसाद्रुमान् । हनूमान्परमक्रुद्धश्चरणैर्दारयत्क्षितम् ।।6.56.22।।

pradhāvannūruvegenaprabhañjṃstarasādrumān | hanūmānparamakruddhaścaraṇairdārayatkṣitam ||6.56.22||

Translation

परमक्रुद्धः highly enraged, हनुमान् Hanuman, प्रधावन् running, ऊरुवेगेन at high speed, चरणैः feet, तरसा earth, द्रुमान् trees, प्रभञ्ज breaking, दारयत्क्षितम् cleaving the earth.

Meaning

Highly enraged Hanuman was running at high speed that his feet were seen breaking the trees and cleaving the earth.

YK-56-23Yuddha Kanda 56.23

गजांश्चसगजारोहान्सरथान्रथिनस्तथा । जघानहनुमान् भीमान् राक्षसांश्चपदातिगान् ।।6.56.23।।

gajāṃścasagajārohānsarathānrathinastathā | jaghānahanumān bhīmān rākṣasāṃścapadātigān ||6.56.23||

Translation

हनुमान् Hanuman, सगजारोहान् the mahouts, गजांश्च and elephants, तथा similarly, सरथान् the chariots, रथिनः and riders, भीमान् terrific, पदातिगान् on foot, राक्षसान् च with Rakshasas, जघान struck.

Meaning

Hanuman struck the mahouts, elephants, similarly the chariots and riders of chariots as well as the terrific Rakshasas who fought standing on feet.

YK-56-24Yuddha Kanda 56.24

तमन्तकमिवक्रुद्धंसद्रुमंप्राणहारिणम् । हनूमन्तमभिप्रेक्ष्यराक्षसाविप्रदुद्रुवुः ।।6.56.24।।

tamantakamivakruddhṃsadrumṃprāṇahāriṇam | hanūmantamabhiprekṣyarākṣasāvipradudruvuḥ ||6.56.24||

Translation

क्रुद्धम् angry, अन्तकमिव like spirit of death, सद्रुमम् those trees, प्राणहारिणम् took life, तंहनूमन्तम् that Hanuman, अभिप्रेक्ष्य seeing, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, विप्रदुद्रुवुः took to heels.

Meaning

Hanuman, enraged like the spirit of death, took their life (Rakshasas) armed with trees and on seeing him the Rakshasas took to their heels.

YK-56-25Yuddha Kanda 56.25

तमापतन्तंसङ्कृद्धंराक्षसानांभयावहम् । ददर्शाकम्पनोवीरश्चुक्षोधचननादच ।।6.56.25।।

tamāpatantṃsaṅkṛddhṃrākṣasānāṃbhayāvaham | dadarśākampanovīraścukṣodhacananādaca ||6.56.25||

Translation

अपतन्तम् coming towards, राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, भयावहम् fearing, सङ्कृद्धम् very angry, तम् him, वीरः heroic, अकम्पनः Akampana, ददर्श saw, चुक्षोधच running, ननादच roared.

Meaning

The heroic Akampana saw Hanuman coming towards him very angry. Fearing Hanuman, the Rakshasas ran roaring in fear.

YK-56-26Yuddha Kanda 56.26

सचतुर्दशभिर्बाणैश्शितैर्देहविदारणैः । निर्बिभेदहनूमन्तंमहावीर्यमकम्पनः ।।6.56.26।।

sacaturdaśabhirbāṇaiśśitairdehavidāraṇaiḥ | nirbibhedahanūmantṃmahāvīryamakampanḥ ||6.56.26||

Translation

सःअकम्पनः Akampana, निशितैः pointed, देहविदारणैः tormenting the body, चतुर्दशभि fourteen, बाणैः arrows, महावीर्यम् powerful, हनूमन्तम् Hanuman, निर्बिभेद split.

Meaning

With fourteen pointed powerful arrows, Akampana tormented and split the body of Hanuman.

YK-56-27Yuddha Kanda 56.27

सतदाप्रतिविद्धस्तुबह्वीभिश्शरवृष्टभिः । हनूमान्ददृशेवीरःप्ररूढइवसानुमान् ।।6.56.27।।

satadāpratividdhastubahvībhiśśaravṛṣṭabhiḥ | hanūmāndadṛśevīrḥprarūḍhaivasānumān ||6.56.27||

Translation

शरवृष्टिभिः rain of arrows, बह्वीभिः many times, तदा then, प्रतिविद्दस्तु interrupted, वीरः valiant one, सःहनुमान् that Hanuman, प्ररूढः stood still, सानुमानिव like a mountain with trees, ददृशे seemed.

Meaning

Valiant Hanuman, even though interrupted several times with rain of arrows, stood still like a mountain full of trees.

YK-56-28Yuddha Kanda 56.28

विरराजमहाकायोमहावीर्योमहामना: । पुष्पिताशोकसङ्काशोविधूमइवपावकः ।।6.56.28।।

virarājamahākāyomahāvīryomahāmanā: | puṣpitāśokasaṅkāśovidhūmaivapāvakḥ ||6.56.28||

Translation

महावीर्यः exceedingly valiant, महाकायः gigantic, महामना: courageous, पुष्पिताशोकसङ्काशः like fully blossomed Ashoka trees, विधूमः smokeless, पावकःइव like fire, विरराज shone.

Meaning

The gigantic Hanuman, exceedingly valiant and courageous one shone like a fully blossomed Ashoka tree, resembled smokeless fire.

YK-56-29Yuddha Kanda 56.29

ततोऽन्यंवृक्षमुत्पाट्यकृत्वावेगमनुत्तमम् । शिरस्यभिजघानाशुराक्षसेन्द्रमकम्पनम् ।।6.56.29।।

tato'nyṃvṛkṣamutpāṭyakṛtvāvegamanuttamam | śirasyabhijaghānāśurākṣasendramakampanam ||6.56.29||

Translation

ततः then, अनुत्तमम् supreme, वेगम् speed, कृत्वा doing, अन्यम् other, वृक्षम् tree, उत्पाट्य uprooting, आशु there upon, राक्षसेन्द्रम् Rakshasa chief, अकम्पनम् Akampana, शिरसि head, जघान struck.

Meaning

Then Hanuman performed another supreme deed by uprooting a tree and striking on the head of Akampana, the chief of Rakshasas.

YK-56-30Yuddha Kanda 56.30

सवृक्षेणहतस्तेनसक्रोधेनमहात्मना । राक्षसोवानरेन्द्रेणपपातचममारच ।।6.56.30।।

savṛkṣeṇahatastenasakrodhenamahātmanā | rākṣasovānarendreṇapapātacamamāraca ||6.56.30||

Translation

सक्रोधेन reacting in anger, महात्मना great self, तेनवानरेन्द्रेण by Vanara chief, वृक्षेण by the tree, हतः striking, सः he, राक्षसः Rakshasa, पपात fell, ममारच dead.

Meaning

Reacting in anger the great Vanara chief struck the Rakshasa with a tree, by which the Rakshasa fell down dead.

YK-56-31Yuddha Kanda 56.31

तंदृष्टवानिहतंभूमौराक्षसेन्द्रमकम्पनम् । व्यथिताराक्षसास्सर्वेक्षितिकम्पइवद्रुमाः ।।6.56.31।।

tṃdṛṣṭavānihatṃbhūmaurākṣasendramakampanam | vyathitārākṣasāssarvekṣitikampaivadrumāḥ ||6.56.31||

Translation

निहतम् dead, राक्षसेन्द्रम् Rakshasa chief, तम् him, अकम्पनम् Akampana, भूमौ on the ground, दृष्टवा seeing, सर्वे all, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, क्षितिकम्पे shaken in earthquake, द्रुमाःइव like a tree, व्यथिताः distressed.

Meaning

Seeing Akampana lying dead on the ground, the Rakshasas were shaken like the trees in the earthquake and were distressed.

YK-56-32Yuddha Kanda 56.32

त्यक्तप्रहरणास्सर्वेराक्षसास्तेपराजिताः । लङ्कामभिययुस्त्रस्तावानरास्तैभिद्रुताः ।।6.56.32।।

tyaktapraharaṇāssarverākṣasāsteparājitāḥ | laṅkāmabhiyayustrastāvānarāstaibhidrutāḥ ||6.56.32||

Translation

Meaning

Abandoning weapons, all Rakshasas having been defeated, chased by the Vanaras, frightened, ran away into Lanka.

YK-56-33Yuddha Kanda 56.33

तेमुक्तकेशाःसम्भ्रान्ताभग्नमानाःपराजिताः । स्रवच्छ्रमजलैरङ्गैश्श्वसन्तोविप्रदुद्रुवुः ।।6.56.33।।

temuktakeśāḥsambhrāntābhagnamānāḥparājitāḥ | sravacchramajalairaṅgaiśśvasantovipradudruvuḥ ||6.56.33||

Translation

सम्भ्रान्ता perplexed, भग्नमाना broken hearted, पराजिताः defeated, मुक्तकेशाः hair loosened, ते they, स्रवच्छ्रमजलैः sweating in limbs, अङ्गैः limbs, श्वसन्तः sighing heavily, विप्रदुद्रुवुः ran very fast.

Meaning

Perplexed, broken hearted, defeated, hair loosened the Rakshasas sweating all over their limbs, sighing heavily ran away very fast.

YK-56-34Yuddha Kanda 56.34

अन्योन्यंप्रममन्थुस्तेविविशुर्नगरंभयात् । पृष्ठतस्तेतुसम्मूढाःप्रेक्षमाणामुहुर्मुहुः ।।6.56.34।।

anyonyṃpramamanthusteviviśurnagarṃbhayāt | pṛṣṭhatastetusammūḍhāḥprekṣamāṇāmuhurmuhuḥ ||6.56.34||

Translation

ते they, भयात् in fear, पृष्ठतः covertly, मुहुर्मुहुः again and again, प्रेक्षमाणाः looking back, सम्मूढाः bewildered, अन्योन्यम् one another, प्रममन्थु: crushing, नगरम् city, विविशुः went.

Meaning

Again, and again looking back in fear, covertly, bewildered, crushing one another, they went into the Lanka city.

YK-56-35Yuddha Kanda 56.35

तेषुलङ्कांप्रविष्टेषुराक्षसेषुमहाबलाः । समेत्यहरयस्सर्वेहनूमन्तमपूजयन् ।।6.56.35।।

teṣulaṅkāṃpraviṣṭeṣurākṣaseṣumahābalāḥ | sametyaharayassarvehanūmantamapūjayan ||6.56.35||

Translation

तेषुराक्षसेषु those Rakshasas, लङ्काम् into Lanka, प्रविष्टेषु on entering, सर्वे all, महाबलाः endowed with prowess, हरयः Vanaras, समेत्य getting together, हनूमन्तम् Hanuman, अपूजयन् paid respects.

Meaning

Those Rakshasas, endowed with prowess, on entering Lanka got together and paid respects to Hanuman.

YK-56-36Yuddha Kanda 56.36

सोऽपिप्रहृष्टस्तान् सर्वान् हरीन् सम्प्रत्यपूजयत् । हनुमान्सत्त्वसम्पन्नोयथार्हमनुकूलतः ।।6.56.36।।

so'piprahṛṣṭastān sarvān harīn sampratyapūjayat | hanumānsattvasampannoyathārhamanukūlatḥ ||6.56.36||

Translation

सत्त्वसम्पन्नः richly endowed with goodness, सः he, हनुमानपि Hanuman also, अनुकूलतः others for their part, यथार्हम् accordingly, तान् them, सर्वान् all, हरीन् monkeys, सम्प्रत्यपूजयत् greatly honoured.

Meaning

Hanuman also who was richly endowed with goodness greatly honoured all the Vanaras accordingly.

YK-56-37Yuddha Kanda 56.37

विनेदुश्चयथाप्राणंहरयोजितकाशिनः । चकर्षुश्चपुनस्तत्रसप्राणानपिराक्षसान् ।।6.56.37।।

vineduścayathāprāṇṃharayojitakāśinḥ | cakarṣuścapunastatrasaprāṇānapirākṣasān ||6.56.37||

Translation

जितकाशिनः atmosphere of triumph, हरयः monkeys, यथाप्राणम् their life, विनेदुः sportively, तत्र there, सप्राणानपि willing to give up their life, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, पुनः again, चकर्षुश्च shouted.

Meaning

In an atmosphere of triumph, the monkeys sportively shouted again saying that they are willing to give up their life also.

YK-56-38Yuddha Kanda 56.38

सवीरशोभामभजन्महाकपिःसमेत्यरक्षांसिनिहत्यमारुतिः । महासुरंभीमममित्रनाशनःयथैवविष्णुर्बलिनंचमूमुखे ।।6.56.38।।

savīraśobhāmabhajanmahākapiḥsametyarakṣāṃsinihatyamārutiḥ | mahāsurṃbhīmamamitranāśanḥyathaivaviṣṇurbalinṃcamūmukhe ||6.56.38||

Translation

महाकपिः great Vanara, सःमारुतिः that Maruti, चमूमुखे in front army, रक्षांसि saviour, समेत्य along with, निहत्य having killed, भीमम् fierce, अमित्रनाशनम् killer of foes, यथैव in the same way, बलिनम् , महासुरम् Lord of Devatas, विष्णुर्यथा like Vishnu, वीरशोभाम् like a triumphant hero, अभजत् shone.

Meaning

Great Vanara, Maruti shone like a triumphant hero and saviour in front of the army, just as Lord Vishnu, the Lord of Devatas shone after killing the foes (demons).

YK-56-39Yuddha Kanda 56.39

अपूजयन्देवगणास्तदाकपिंस्वयंचरामोऽतिबलश्चलक्ष्मणः । तथैवसुग्रीवमुखाःप्लवङ्गमाविभीषणश्चैवमहाबलस्तथा ।।6.56.39।।

apūjayandevagaṇāstadākapiṃsvayṃcarāmo'tibalaścalakṣmaṇḥ | tathaivasugrīvamukhāḥplavaṅgamāvibhīṣaṇaścaivamahābalastathā ||6.56.39||

Translation

तदा then, देवगणाः army of Devatas, स्वयम् themselves, रामः Rama, अतिबलः Atibala, लक्ष्मणःच and Lakshmana, तथैव in the same way, सुग्रीवमुखाः Sugriva the chief, प्लवङ्गमाः of monkeys, तथा so also, महाबलः of exceeding might, विभीषणश्चैव Vibheeshana also, कपिम् monkey, अपूजयन् praised.

Meaning

Thereafter Rama with the army of Devatas, Atibala and Lakshmana, in the same way Sugriva, the army chief, so also, Vibheeshana of exceeding might praised Hanuman. ।। इत्यार्षेवाल्मीकीयेश्रीमद्रामायणेआदिकाव्येयुद्धकाण्डेषटपञ्चाशस्सर्गः ।। This is the end of the fifty sixth sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.
