अनुज्ञातंतुरामेणतद्विमानमनुत्तमम् । हंसयुक्तंमहानादमुत्पपातविहायसम् ।।6.126.1।।

anujñātṃturāmeṇatadvimānamanuttamam | hṃsayuktṃmahānādamutpapātavihāyasam ||6.126.1||

Translation

अनुत्तमम् unsurpassed, हंसयुक्तम् like swan, महानादम् great sound, तत् that, विमानम् aerial car, रामेण by Rama, अनुज्ञातम् permission, विहायसम् started to fly, उत्पपात rising up

Meaning

Swan shaped Pushpak, unsurpassed in appearance like swan, making great sound started to fly with the permission of Rama.

YK-126-2Yuddha Kanda 126.2

पातयित्वाततश्चक्षुस्सर्वतोरघुनन्दनः । अब्रवीन्मैथिलींसीतांरामश्शशिनिभाननाम् ।।6.126.2।।

pātayitvātataścakṣussarvatoraghunandanḥ | abravīnmaithilīṃsītāṃrāmaśśaśinibhānanām ||6.126.2||

Translation

ततः then, रघुनन्दनः enhancer of joy of Raghu race, रामः Rama, चक्षुः eyes, सर्वतः all sides, पातयित्वा casting, शशिनिभाननाम् moon like face, मैथिलीम् of Mythili, सीताम् Sita, अब्रवीत् spoke

Meaning

Then Rama, the enhancer of the joy of Raghu race casting his gaze at the moon like face of Sita spoke.

कैलासशिखराकारेत्रिकूटशिखरेस्थिताम् । लङ्कामीक्षस्ववैदेहीनिर्मितांविश्वकर्मणा ।।6.126.3।।

kailāsaśikharākāretrikūṭaśikharesthitām | laṅkāmīkṣasvavaidehīnirmitāṃviśvakarmaṇā ||6.126.3||

Translation

वैदेहि Vaidehi, कैलासशिखराकारे of the shape of the peak of Kailasa, त्रिकूटशिखरे peak of Trikuta, स्थिताम् stands, विश्वकर्मणा by Viswakarma, निर्मिताम् constructed, लङ्काम् Lanka, ईक्षस्व you may see

Meaning

"Vaidehi, you may see the peak of Trikuta which stands on Lanka in the shape of the peak of Kailasa, constructed by Viswakarma."

YK-126-4Yuddha Kanda 126.4

एतदायोधनंपश्यमांसशोणितकर्दमम् । हरीणांराक्षसानां च सीते विशसनंमहत् ।।6.126.4।।

etadāyodhanṃpaśyamāṃsaśoṇitakardamam | harīṇāṃrākṣasānāṃ ca sīte viśasanṃmahat ||6.126.4||

Translation

सीते Sita, मांसशोणितकर्दमम् mire of flesh and blood, हरीणाम् monkeys, राक्षसानां च and Rakshasas, विशसनम् carnage, महत् many, एतत् all these, अयोधनम् battlefield, पश्य see

Meaning

"Sita, see the mire of flesh and blood of the carnage of many monkeys and Rakshasas on the battlefield."

अत्रदत्तवरश्शेतेप्रमाथीराक्षसेश्वरः । तवहेतोर्विशालाक्षीनिहतोरावणोमया ।।6.126.5।।

atradattavaraśśetepramāthīrākṣaseśvarḥ | tavahetorviśālākṣīnihatorāvaṇomayā ||6.126.5||

Translation

विशालाक्षि broadeyed, दत्तवरः by virtue of a boon, प्रमाथी torturer of people, राक्षसेश्वरः Rakshasa king, रावणः Ravana, तवहेतोः son your account, मया by me, निहतः destroyed, अत्र there, शेते lies

Meaning

"Broad eyed Sita, there lies Ravana, the Rakshasa king, who by virtue of boon tortured people, destroyed by me on your account."

YK-126-6Yuddha Kanda 126.6

कुम्भकर्णोऽऽत्रनिहतःप्रहस्तश्चनिशाचरः । धूम्राक्षश्चात्रनिहतोवानरेणहनूमता ।।6.126.6।।

kumbhakarṇo''tranihatḥprahastaścaniśācarḥ | dhūmrākṣaścātranihatovānareṇahanūmatā ||6.126.6||

Translation

अत्र there, कुम्भकर्णः Kumbhakarna, निहतः killed, निशाचरः nightranger, प्रहस्तश्च Prahastha, वानरेण by Vanaras, हनूमता Hanuman, अत्र there, धूम्राक्षश्च Dhumraksha, निहतः killed

Meaning

"There lies Kumbhakarna, the night ranger killed by me, Prahastha killed by Vanaras, DhumRaksha killed by Hanuman."

YK-126-7Yuddha Kanda 126.7

विद्युन्मालीहतश्चात्रसुषेणेनमहात्मना । लक्ष्मणेनेन्द्राजिच्चात्ररावणिर्निहितोरणे ।।6.126.7।।

vidyunmālīhataścātrasuṣeṇenamahātmanā | lakṣmaṇenendrājiccātrarāvaṇirnihitoraṇe ||6.126.7||

Translation

अत्र there, महात्मना great, सुषेणेन by Sushena, विद्युन्माली Vidyunmali, हतः killed, अत्र there, लक्ष्मणेन by Lakshmana, रावणिः Ravani, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, रणे in battlefield, निहतः killed

Meaning

"There lies Vidyunmali killed by great Sushena and Ravana's son Indrajith killed by Lakshmana in the battlefield."

अङ्गदेनात्रनिहतोविकटोनामराक्षसः । विरूपाक्षश्चदुर्धर्षोमहापार्श्वमहोदरौ ।।6.126.8।। अकम्पनश्चनिहतोबलिनोऽऽन्ये च राक्षसाः । त्रिशिराश्चातिकायश्चदेवान्तकनरान्तकौ ।।6.126.9।।

अत्र there, अङ्गदेन by Angada, विकटोनाम Vikata by name, राक्षसः Rakshasa, निहतः killed, दुष्प्रेक्षः Dupreksha, विरूपाक्षश्च Virupaksha, महापार्श्वमहोदरौ Mahaparsva and Mahodara, अकम्पनश्च and Akampana, निहतः killed, बलिनः mighty, अन्ये others, राक्षसाः च Rakshasas, त्रिशिराः Trisira, अतिकायश्च Atikaya, देवान्तकनरान्तकौ Devanthaka and Naranthaka

Meaning

"There is the Rakshasa by name Vikata killed by Angada, and Virupaksha (killed by Sugriva), Mahaparsva (killed by Rshaba), Mahodara (killed by Neela), Akampana and other Rakshasas, like Trisira killed by the mighty Hanuman and Atikaya by Lakshmana and Devanthaka (by Hanuman), and Naranthaka (by Angada)."

युद्धोन्मत्तश्चमत्तश्चराक्षसप्रवरावुभौ । निकुम्भश्चैवकुम्भश्चकुम्भकर्णात्मजौबली ।।6.126.10।। वज्रदंष्ट्रश्चदंष्ट्रश्चबहवोराक्षसाहताः । मकराक्षश्चदुर्धर्षोमयायुधिनिपातितः ।।6.126.11।।

राक्षसप्रवरौ Rakshasa chiefs, युद्धोन्मत्तश्च Yuddhonmatta, मत्तश्च Matta, उभौ both, कुम्भकर्णात्मजौ Kumbhakarna's sons, निकुम्भश्चैव Nikumbha also, कुम्भश्च Kumbha, बळी strong, वज्रदंष्ट्रश्च Vajradamshtra, दंष्ट्रश्च Damshtra, बहवः many, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, हताः were killed, दुद्धर्षः difficult to encounter, मकराक्षश्च Maha raksha, मया by me, युधि in combat, निपातितः destroyed

Meaning

"Yuddhonmatta and Matta both Rakshasa chiefs, and also Nikumbha and Kumbha, sons of Kumbhakarna (killed by Hanuman and Sugriva), and Vajradamshtra and Damshtra (killed by Angada), and Maha raksha who was difficult to encounter was killed by me in the combat."

YK-126-12Yuddha Kanda 126.12

अकम्पनश्चनिहतःशोणिताक्षश्चवीर्यवान् । यूपाक्षश्चप्रजङ्घश्चनिहतौतुमहाहवे ।।6.126.12।।

akampanaścanihatḥśoṇitākṣaścavīryavān | yūpākṣaścaprajaṅghaścanihatautumahāhave ||6.126.12||

Translation

महाहवे major conflict, अकम्पनश्च Akampana, निहतः killed, वीर्यवान् valiant, शोणिताक्षश्च Sonithksha, यूपाक्षश्च Yupaksha, प्रजङ्घश्च Prajaghna, निहतौ got killed

Meaning

" Akampana and also Sonithaksha got killed (by Dwivida), Yupaksha and Prajaghna (by Mainda and Angada)."

विद्युज्जिह्वोऽऽत्रनिहतोराक्षसोभीमदर्शनः । यज्ञशत्रुश्चनिहतःसुप्तघ्नश्चमहाबलः ।।6.126.13।। सूर्यशत्रुश्चनिहतोब्रह्मशत्रुस्तथापरः ।

Translation

अत्र there, भीमदर्शनः of dreadful appearance, राक्षसः Rakshasa, विद्युज्जिह्वः Vidyujihva, निहतः killed, यज्ञशत्रुश्च Yajnasatru, निहतः killed, महाबलः mighty, सुप्तघ्नुश्च Suptaghna, निहतः killed, सूर्यशत्रुश्च Surya Satru, निहतः was killed, तथा similarly, अपरः another, ब्रह्मशत्रुः Brahmasatru, निहतः was killed.

Meaning

"There is Vidyujihva of dreadful appearance killed, Yajnasatru killed, and the mighty Suptaghna. Similarly Suryasatru and another Rakshasa Brahmasatru were killed. in the shape of the peak of Kailasa."

YK-126-14Yuddha Kanda 126.14

अत्रमन्दोदरीनामभार्यातंपर्यदेवयत् ।।6.126.14।। सपत्नीनांसहस्रेणसाग्रेणपरिवारिता ।

atramandodarīnāmabhāryātṃparyadevayat ||6.126.14|| sapatnīnāṃsahasreṇasāgreṇaparivāritā |

Translation

अत्र there, सपत्नीनाम् with cowives, साग्रेण on the sea shore, सहस्रेण a thousand, परिवारिता associates, मन्दोदरीनाम Mandodari by name, भार्या wife, तम् her, पर्यदेवयत् surrounded by

Meaning

"Mandodari wife of Ravana, with a thousand cowives is on the seashore surrounded by associates."

YK-126-15Yuddha Kanda 126.15

तत्तुदृश्यतेतीर्थंसमुद्रस्यवरानने ।।6.126.15।। यत्रसागरमुत्तीर्यतांरात्रिमुषितावयम् ।

tattudṛśyatetīrthṃsamudrasyavarānane ||6.126.15|| yatrasāgaramuttīryatāṃrātrimuṣitāvayam |

Translation

वरानने charming lady, समुद्रस्य ocean's, एतत् this, तीर्थम् shore, दृश्यते see, सागरम् ocean, उत्तीर्य landed, वयम् we, तांरात्रिम् that night, यत्र there, उषिताः slept

Meaning

"Charming lady! You see the seashore there, where we crossed the sea that night and slept on the shore."

YK-126-16Yuddha Kanda 126.16

एषसेतुर्मयाबद्धस्सागरेसलिलार्णवे ।।6.126.16।। तवहेतोर्विशालाक्षिनलसेतुःसुदुष्करः ।

eṣaseturmayābaddhassāgaresalilārṇave ||6.126.16|| tavahetorviśālākṣinalasetuḥsuduṣkarḥ |

Translation

विशालाक्षि broad eyed, एषः here, सागरे on the ocean, सलिलार्णवे salt ocean, मया by me, बद्धः bridge, सुदुष्करः very difficult, नलसेतुः built by Nala (called Nalasethu as it was built by Nala)

Meaning

"Broad eyed lady! Here is the bridge built on the salty ocean by Nala, which was difficult to construct."

YK-126-17Yuddha Kanda 126.17

पश्यसागरमक्षोभ्यंवैदेहिवरुणालयम् ।।6.126.17।। अपारमभिगर्जन्तंशङ्खशुक्तिसमाकुलम् ।

paśyasāgaramakṣobhyṃvaidehivaruṇālayam ||6.126.17|| apāramabhigarjantṃśaṅkhaśuktisamākulam |

Translation

वैदेहि Vaidehi, अक्षोभ्यम् imperturbable, वरुणालयम् abode of Varuna, अपारमिव immeasurable, अभिगर्जन्तम् roaring aloud, शङ्खशुक्तिसमाकुलम् hoarding conches, oystershells, सागरम् ocean, पश्य see

Meaning

"Vaidehi! See the abode of Varuna, impenetrable and immeasurable roaring aloud filled with conches and oystershells."

YK-126-18Yuddha Kanda 126.18

हिरण्यनाभंशैलेन्द्रंकाञ्चनंपश्यमैथिलि ।।6.126.18।। विश्रमार्थंहनुमतोभित्त्वासागरमुत्थितम् ।

hiraṇyanābhṃśailendrṃkāñcanṃpaśyamaithili ||6.126.18|| viśramārthṃhanumatobhittvāsāgaramutthitam |

Translation

मैथिलि Mythili, हनुमतः Hanumantha, विश्रमार्थम् in order to rest, सागरम् ocean, भित्त्वा cleaving, उत्थितम् risen up, काञ्चनम् golden, हिरण्यनाभम् golden mountain, पश्य see

Meaning

"Mythili! See the mountain which has golden caves and has risen cleaving the ocean in order to give place for Hanuman to rest while crossing the ocean."

YK-126-19Yuddha Kanda 126.19

एततत्कुक्षौसमुद्रस्यस्कन्धावारनिवेशनम् ।।6.126.19।। अत्रपूर्वंमहादेवःप्रसादमकरोत्प्रभुः ।

etatatkukṣausamudrasyaskandhāvāraniveśanam ||6.126.19|| atrapūrvṃmahādevḥprasādamakarotprabhuḥ |

Translation

समुद्रस्य ocean's, कुक्षौ cavern, एतत् all this, स्कन्धावारनिवेशनम् where troops were stationed, अत्र there, पूर्वम् past, प्रभुः Lord, महादेवः MahaDeva, प्रसादम् bestow grace, अकरोत् basinisland

Meaning

"Here is a cavern where all these troops were stationed before crossing the ocean. At this place Lord MahaDeva bestowed his grace on me (before construction of the bridge)."

YK-126-20-21Yuddha Kanda 126.20–21 (युग्मम्)

एतत्तुदृश्यतेतीर्थंसागरस्यमहात्मनः ।।6.126.20।। सेतुबन्दइतिख्यातंत्रैलोक्येन च पूजितम् । एतत्पवित्रंपरमंमहापातकनाशनम् ।।6.126.21।। अत्रराक्षसराजोऽऽयमाजगामविभीषणः ।

etattudṛśyatetīrthṃsāgarasyamahātmanḥ ||6.126.20|| setubandaitikhyātṃtrailokyena ca pūjitam | etatpavitrṃparamṃmahāpātakanāśanam ||6.126.21|| atrarākṣasarājo''yamājagāmavibhīṣaṇḥ |

महात्मनः great, सागरस्य Lord of ocean, सेतुबन्धःइति called Sethubandha, ख्यातम् very popular, त्रैलोक्येन च in the three worlds, पूजितम् worshipped, एतत् तु in this way, तीर्थम् shore, दृश्यते is seen, एतत् this, परमम् supremely, पवित्रम् sacred, महापातकनाशनम् capable of removing all sins, अत्र there, अयम् this, राक्षसराजः Rakshasa king, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, आजगाम came to meet me

Meaning

"See in the middle of the ocean a very popular spot which is worshipped by the three worlds. It is supremely sacred known by the name Sethubandha. It is capable of removing all sins. It is here that the Rakshasa king Vibhishana came to meet me."

YK-126-22Yuddha Kanda 126.22

एषासादृश्यतेसीतेकिष्किन्धाचित्रकानना ।।6.126.22।। सुग्रीवस्यपुरीरम्यायत्रवालीमयाहतः ।

eṣāsādṛśyatesītekiṣkindhācitrakānanā ||6.126.22|| sugrīvasyapurīramyāyatravālīmayāhatḥ |

Translation

सीते Sita, सुग्रीवस्य Sugriva's, पुरी capital, रम्या beautiful, चित्रकानना lovely woods, सा he, एषा of this, किष्किन्धा Kishkinda, दृश्यते seeing, यत्र there, मया by me, वाली Vali, हतः was killed

Meaning

"Sita! You are seeing the capital of Sugriva, beautiful Kishkinda with lovely woods. Vali was killed here by me."

YK-126-23Yuddha Kanda 126.23

अथदृष्टवापुरींसीताकिष्किन्धांवालिपालिताम् ।।6.126.23।। अब्रवीत्पश्रितंवाक्यंरामंप्रणतसाध्वसा ।

athadṛṣṭavāpurīṃsītākiṣkindhāṃvālipālitām ||6.126.23|| abravītpaśritṃvākyṃrāmṃpraṇatasādhvasā |

Translation

अथ and then, सीता Sita, वालिपालिताम् ruled by Vali, किष्किन्धांपुरीम् Kishkinda city, दृष्टवा seeing, प्रणयसाध्वसा timid through love, रामम् Rama, प्रश्रितम् gazing, वाक्यम् these words, अब्रवीत् spoke

Meaning

Sita, seeing the beautiful Kishkinda city ruled by Vali, gazing at Rama timidly and through love spoke to him.

YK-126-24-25Yuddha Kanda 126.24–25 (युग्मम्)

सुग्रीवप्रियभार्याभिस्ताराप्रमुखतोनृप ।।6.126.24।। अन्येषांवानरेन्द्राणांस्त्रीभिःपरिवृताह्यहम् । गन्तुमिच्छेसहायोध्यांराजधानींत्वयासह ।।6.126.25।।

sugrīvapriyabhāryābhistārāpramukhatonṛpa ||6.126.24|| anyeṣāṃvānarendrāṇāṃstrībhiḥparivṛtāhyaham | gantumicchesahāyodhyāṃrājadhānīṃtvayāsaha ||6.126.25||

Translation

नृप king, ताराप्रमुखतः Tara and other consorts, सुग्रीवप्रियभार्याभिः Sugriva's dear wives, अन्येषाम् and others, वानरेन्द्राणाम् Vanara chiefs, स्त्रीभिःwomen, परिवृता surrounded by, अहम् I, त्वयासह with you, राजधानीम् capital city, अयोध्याम् Ayodhya, गन्तुम् to go, इच्छे desiring

Meaning

"O King! I wish to go to the capital city Ayodhya with you, Tara and other consorts of Sugriva, and other women, surrounded by Vanara chiefs."

एवमुक्तोऽऽथवैदेह्याराघवःप्रत्युवाचताम् । एवमस्त्वितिकिष्किन्धांप्राप्यसंस्थाप्यराघवः ।।6.126.26।। विमानंप्रेक्ष्यसुग्रीवंवाक्यमेतदुवाच ह ।

evamukto''thavaidehyārāghavḥpratyuvācatām | evamastvitikiṣkindhāṃprāpyasṃsthāpyarāghavḥ ||6.126.26|| vimānṃprekṣyasugrīvṃvākyametaduvāca ha |

Translation

वैदेह्या Vaidehi, एवम् in that way, उक्तः spoken, राघवः Raghava, अथ then, एवम्, अस्तु so be, इति this, ताम् you, प्रत्युवाच replied, राघवः Raghava, किष्किन्धाम् Kishkinda, प्राप्य arrived, विमानम् Pushpaka, संस्थाप्य halt, सुग्रीवम् Sugriva, प्रेक्ष्य looked, एतत् these, वाक्यम् words, उवाच ह spoke

Meaning

Vaidehi having spoken like that, Raghava replied her saying 'So be it' and Raghava stopped Pushpaka at Kishkinda, looked at Sugriva and spoke as follows.

YK-126-27Yuddha Kanda 126.27

ब्रूहिवानरशूर्दूल सर्वान्वानरपुङ्गवान् ।।6.126.27।। स्त्रीभिःपरिवृताःसर्वेह्ययोध्यांयान्तुसीतया ।

brūhivānaraśūrdūla sarvānvānarapuṅgavān ||6.126.27|| strībhiḥparivṛtāḥsarvehyayodhyāṃyāntusītayā |

Translation

वानरशार्दूल tiger among Vanaras, सर्वान् all, वानरपुङ्गवान् Vanara chiefs, सर्वे all, स्त्रीभिः women also, परिवृताः collected, सीतया with Sita, अयोध्याम् Ayodhya, यान्तु by the vehicle, ब्रूहि said

Meaning

"Sugriva, the tiger among Vanaras! Let all Vanara chiefs and all women too collected, proceed to Ayodhya. Sita desires you to go."

YK-126-28Yuddha Kanda 126.28

तथात्वमपिसर्वाभिस्स्त्ीभिस्सहमहाबल ।।6.126.28।। अभित्वरस्वसुग्रीव गच्छामःप्लवगाधिप ।

tathātvamapisarvābhisstībhissahamahābala ||6.126.28|| abhitvarasvasugrīva gacchāmḥplavagādhipa |

Translation

महाबल of mighty prowess, प्लवगाधिप head of monkeys, सुग्रीव Sugriva, तथा like that, त्वम् अपि you too, सर्वाभिः all, स्त्रीभिःसह including women, अभित्वरस्व quickly, गच्छामः have to go

Meaning

Sugriva the head of the monkeys said" all of you including women also have to go quickly."

YK-126-29-30Yuddha Kanda 126.29–30 (युग्मम्)

एवमुक्तस्तुसुग्रीवोरामेणामिततेजसा ।।6.126.29।। वानराधिपतिश्रीमांस्स्सैश्चसर्वैस्समावृतः । प्रविश्यान्तःपुरंशीघ्रंतारामुवदीक्ष्यसोऽऽब्रवीत् ।।6.126.30।।

evamuktastusugrīvorāmeṇāmitatejasā ||6.126.29|| vānarādhipatiśrīmāṃsssaiścasarvaissamāvṛtḥ | praviśyāntḥpurṃśīghrṃtārāmuvadīkṣyaso''bravīt ||6.126.30||

Translation

मिततेजसा of immeasurable energy, रामेण by Rama, एवम् in that way, उक्तः spoken, वानराधिपतिः leader of Vanaras, श्रीमान् prosperous, सःसुग्रीवः that Sugriva, सर्वैः all, तैः of them, समावृतः surrounded, शीघ्रम् instantly, अन्तःपुरम् gynaeceum, प्रविश्य entered, ताराम् Tara, उवदीक्ष्य looking at, अब्रवीत् said

Meaning

When Rama of immeasurable energy had spoken in the aforesaid manner, Sugriva, the prosperous leader of Vanaras, surrounded by the monkeys entered the gynaeceum and looking at Tara said.

YK-126-31Yuddha Kanda 126.31

प्रिये त्वंसहनाराभिर्वानराणांमहात्मनाम् । राघवेणाभ्यनुज्ञातामैथिलीप्रियकाम्यया ।।6.126.31।।

priye tvṃsahanārābhirvānarāṇāṃmahātmanām | rāghaveṇābhyanujñātāmaithilīpriyakāmyayā ||6.126.31||

Translation

त्वम् you, त्वर hasten, वानरयोषितः wives of the monkeys, गृह्य taking, गच्छामः will depart, अयोध्याम् to Ayodhya, सर्वाः all, दशरथस्त्रियः consorts of the king of Dasharatha, दर्शयिष्यामःwill see

Meaning

"You hasten the wives of the monkeys. Taking all of them we shall depart to Ayodhya and shall see the consorts of Dasharatha."

सुग्रीवस्य व चःश्रुत्वातारासर्वाङ्गशोभना । आहूयचाब्रवीत्सर्वावानराणांतुयोषितः ।।6.126.33।।

On hearing Sugriva's words, Tara of beautiful limbs spoke, summoning all women.

YK-126-34Yuddha Kanda 126.34

सुग्रीवेणाभ्यनुज्ञातागन्तुंसर्वैश्चवानरैः । ममचापिप्रियंकार्यमयोध्यादर्वनेन च ।।6.126.34।।

sugrīveṇābhyanujñātāgantuṃsarvaiścavānaraiḥ | mamacāpipriyṃkāryamayodhyādarvanena ca ||6.126.34||

Translation

Meaning

Sugriva has permitted all the Vanaras to go with wives and look at Ayodhya." Dear, some kindly act will be done for us also."

प्रवेशंचैवरामस्यपौरजानपदैस्सह । विभूतिंचैवसर्वासांस्त्रीणांदशरथस्य च ।।6.126.35।।

"We shall see with all the citizens, Rama's entry into Ayodhya, Dasharatha's women and the glory of Ayodhya, everything."

तारयाचाभ्यनुज्ञातास्सर्वावानरयोषितः । नेपथ्यविधिपूर्वंतुकृत्वाचापिप्रदक्षिणम् ।।6.126.36।। अध्यारोहन्विमानंतत्सीतादर्शनकाङ्क्षया ।

Meaning

Duly permitted, all Vanaras wives and Tara also decorated themselves according to tradition, went around the Pushpaka and looked forward to seeing Sita.

ताभिःसहोत्थितंशीघ्रंविमानंप्रेक्ष्यराघवः ।।6.126.37।। ऋष्यमूकसमीपेतुवैदेहींपुनरब्रवीत् ।

Translation

ताभिःसह Rama and all others, शीघ्रम् speedily, उत्थितम् rising, विमानम् aerial car, प्रेक्ष्य gazing, राघवः Raghava, ऋष्यमूकसमीपे over Rshyamuka, वैदेहीम् Vaidehi, पुनः again, अब्रवीत् spoke

Meaning

After Rama and all others ascended and Pushpaka rose up speedily over the Rshyamuka, gazing at Rshyamuka, Rama spoke toVaidehi.

YK-126-38Yuddha Kanda 126.38

दृश्यतेऽऽसौमहान्सीते सविद्युदिवतोयदः ।।6.126.38।। ऋष्यमूकोगिरिवरःकाञ्चनैर्धातुभिर्वृतः ।

dṛśyate''saumahānsīte savidyudivatoyadḥ ||6.126.38|| ṛṣyamūkogirivarḥkāñcanairdhātubhirvṛtḥ |

Translation

सीते Sita, काञ्चनैः gold, धातुभिः minerals, वृतः covered, सविद्युत् glowing, तोयदः cloud, इव like असौ oh, गिरिवरः jewel among mountains, ऋष्यमूकः Rshyamuka, दृश्यते is seen

Meaning

"Sita! Rshyamuka is seen covered with streaks of gold minerals, glowing like clouds with lightning."

त्राहंवानरेन्द्रेणसुग्रीवेणसमागतः ।।6.126.39।। समयश्चकृतःसीतेवधार्थंवालिनोमया ।

नलिनी waters, चित्रकानना lovely woods, एषा here, पम्पा Pampa, दृश्यते is seen, यत्र there, अहम् I, त्वया by me, विहीनः separated, सुदुःखितः afflicted, विललाप lamented

"Here is seen lovely woods and Pampa waters. I lamented here, separated from you."

अस्यास्तीरेमयादृष्टाशबरीधर्मचारिणी ।।6.126.41।। अत्रयोजनबाहुश्चकबन्धोनिहतोमया ।

Translation

अस्याः its, तीरे bank, धर्मचारिणी following righteous path, शबरी Sabari, मया by me, दृष्टा saw, अत्र there, मया by me, योजनबाहुः arms as long as yojana (eight miles), कबन्धः Kabhanda, निहतः was killed

"On its bank (Pampa) I saw Sabari, who was following the righteous path. Kabhanda, of eight miles long arms, was killed by me."

सीते Sita, जनस्थाने Janasthana, श्रीमान् prosperous, असौ oh, वनस्पतिः mighty tree, दृश्यते seen, विलासिनि sportive lady, यत्र there, तवहेतोः on your account, पक्षिणाम् vulture, प्रवरः exceptionally, बली strong, महातेजाः highly energetic, जटायुश्च Jatayu, रावणेन by Ravana, निहतः was killed

Meaning

"Sita, here is Janasthana, where a mighty tree is seen. Oh sportive lady! There the exceptionally strong and highly energetic vulture Jatayu got killed by Ravana on account of you."

खरश्चनिहतोयत्रदूषणश्चनिपातितः । त्रिशिराश्चमहावीर्योमयाबाणैरजिह्मगैः ।।6.126.44।। एतत्तदाश्रममदमस्माकंवरवर्णिनि । पर्णशालातथाचित्रादृश्यतेशुभदर्शने ।।6.126.45।। यत्रत्वंराक्षसेन्द्रेणरावणेनहृताबलात् ।

वरवर्णिनि excellent lady, एतत् this, यत्र there, मया by me, अजिह्मगैः going straight, शरैः arrows, खरश्च Khara, निहतः killed, दूषणश्च Dushana, निपातितः fallen, तत् that, अस्माकम् our, आश्रमपदम् hermitage, तथा similarly, शुभदर्शने well known site, त्वम् you, यत्र there, राक्षसेन्द्रेण Rakshasa king, रावणेन by Ravana, बलात् forcibly, हृता borne away, पर्णशाला hut covered with leaves, दृश्यते is seen

Meaning

"O excellent lady! Here is the location where Khara was killed by my straight going arrows and Dushana had fallen. Here is our hermitage covered with leaves, a well known site. It is from here that Ravana had borne you away forcibly."

YK-126-46Yuddha Kanda 126.46

एषागोदावरीरम्याप्रसन्नसलिलाशुभा ।।6.126.46।। अगस्त्यस्याश्रमश्चैव दृश्यते कदलीवृतः ।

eṣāgodāvarīramyāprasannasalilāśubhā ||6.126.46|| agastyasyāśramaścaiva dṛśyate kadalīvṛtḥ |

Translation

एषा here is, प्रसन्नसलिला pure water, शुभा auspicious, रम्या beautiful, गोदावरी Godavari, कदलीवृतः surrounded by banana plants, अगस्त्यस्य Agastya's, आश्रमश्चैव hermitage also, दृश्यते is seen

Meaning

"Here is an auspicious, beautiful Godavari with pure water. Here is also seen the hermitage of Agastya surrounded by banana plants."

दीप्तशैवाश्रमोह्येषसुतीक्षणस्यमहात्मनः ।।6.126.47।। वैदेहिदृश्यतेचैवशरभङ्गाश्रमोमहान् । उपयातःसहस्राक्षोयत्रशक्रःपुरन्दरः ।।6.126.48।।

दीप्तः glowing, एषःआश्रमः this hermitage, महात्मनः great sage, सुतीक्षणस्य Sutikshna, वैदेहि Vaidehi, महान् great, शरभङ्गाश्रमःचैव Sarabhanga's hermitage, दृश्यते is seen, यत्र here, सहस्राक्षः thousand eyed, पुरन्दरः Purandara, शक्रः Indra, उपयातः had come

Meaning

"See the glowing hermitage of the great sage Sutikshna. Vaidehi, see Sarabhanga's hermitage here, where the thousand eyed Indra, the destroyer of citadels (Purandara) had come."

YK-126-49Yuddha Kanda 126.49

एतेहितापसावासादृश्यन्तेतनुमध्यमे । अत्रिःकुलपतिर्यत्रसूर्यवैश्वानरोपमः ।।6.126.49।।

etehitāpasāvāsādṛśyantetanumadhyame | atriḥkulapatiryatrasūryavaiśvānaropamḥ ||6.126.49||

Translation

तनुमध्यमे of slender waist, एते there, हि is, तापसाः ascetics, वासा abodes, दृश्यन्ते is seen, यत्र there, सूर्यवैश्वानरोपमः like sun and fire, अत्रिः Atri, कुलपतिः head

Meaning

"There are seen the abodes of ascetics. Here was seen by you hermitage of Atri (whose wife Anasuya you had seen) glowing like sun and fire."

अस्मिन् देशेमहाकायोविराधोनिहतोमया । अत्रसीते त्वयादृष्टवातापसीधर्मचारिणी ।।6.126.50।।

Translation

अस्मिन्देशे in these countries, महाकायः of gigantic body size, विराधः Viradha, मया by me, निहतः killed, सीते Sita, अत्र there, धर्मचारिणी practicing virtues, तापसी ascetic, त्वया you, दृष्टा saw

Meaning

"In these countries was a Rakshasa, called Viradha of gigantic size who was killed by me. There is an ascetic woman Anasuya practicing virtues whom you saw."

YK-126-51Yuddha Kanda 126.51

असौसुतनुशैलेन्द्रत्रकूटःप्रकाशते । अत्रमांकैकयीपुत्रप्रसादयितुमागतः ।।6.126.51।।

asausutanuśailendratrakūṭḥprakāśate | atramāṃkaikayīputraprasādayitumāgatḥ ||6.126.51||

Translation

सुतनु charming lady, असौ oh, शैलेन्द्रः best of mountains, चित्रकूटः Chitrakuta, प्रकाशते shining, अत्र there, कैकयीपुत्रः Kaikeyi's son, माम् me, प्रसादयितुम् to request, आगतः had come here

Meaning

"O Charming lady! See the best of the mountains Chitrakuta shining there. Kaikeyi's son had come here to request me to accept the kingdom."

एषासायमुनारम्यादृश्यतेचित्रकानना । भरद्वाजाश्रमःश्रीमान्दृश्यतेचैषमैथिलि ।।6.126.52।।

Translation

मैथिलि Mythili, एषा this, चित्रकानना wonderful woods, रम्या beautiful, सायमुना that Yamuna, दृश्यते is seen, श्रीमान् glorious, एषः this, भरद्वाजाश्रमः Bharadwaja's hermitage, दृश्यते is seen

Meaning

"Mythili! See the wonderful woods bordering beautiful Yamuna. Glorious hermitage of Bharadwaja is seen there."

YK-126-53Yuddha Kanda 126.53

इयं च दृश्यतेगङ्गापुण्यात्रिपथगानदी । नानाद्विजगणाकीर्णासम्प्रपुष्पितकानना ।।6.126.53।।

iyṃ ca dṛśyategaṅgāpuṇyātripathagānadī | nānādvijagaṇākīrṇāsamprapuṣpitakānanā ||6.126.53||

Translation

नानाद्विजगणाकीर्णा frequented with several kinds of birds, सम्प्रपुष्पितपादपा filled with trees full of blossoms, इयम् these, पुण्या sacred, त्रिपथगा three worlds, गङ्गानदी Ganga river, दृश्यते is seen

"There is a sacred river Ganga where several kinds of birds frequent and are filled with trees full of blossoms."

शृङ्गिबेरपुरंचैतद्गुहोयत्रसखामम । एषासादृश्यतेसीतेसरयूर्यूपमालिनी ।।6.126.54।। नानातरुशताकीर्णासम्प्रपुष्पितकानना ।

एतत् this, शृङ्गिबेरपुरं च Sringaberipura, यत्र there, मम my, सखा friend, गुह Guha, सीते Sita, यूपमालिनी with rows of sacrificial posts, नानातरुशताकीर्णा with several kinds of many trees, सम्प्रपुष्पितकानना trees full of blossom, सा that, सरयूः Sarayu, एषा these, दृश्यते seen

Meaning

"See this Sringaberipura. Their lives my friend Guha. Sita, several kinds of trees full of blossoms are seen on the bank of Sarayu. See the rows of sacrificial posts."

एषासादृश्यतेसीतेराजधानीपितुर्मम ।।6.126.55।। अयोध्यांकुरुवैदेहिप्रणामंपुनरागता ।

Translation

सीते Sita, एषा this, मम my, पितुः father, साराजधानी that capital, दृश्यते you see, वैदेहि Vaidehi, पुनः again, आगता reached, अयोध्याम् Ayodhya, प्रणामम् salutations, कुरु offer

Meaning

Sita! My father's capital Ayodhya is seen. We have come here. Offer your salutations."

YK-126-56Yuddha Kanda 126.56

ततस्तेवानरास्सर्वेराक्षसास्सविभीषणाः ।।6.126.56।। उत्पत्योत्पत्यसम्हृष्टास्तांपुरींददृशुस्तदा ।

tatastevānarāssarverākṣasāssavibhīṣaṇāḥ ||6.126.56|| utpatyotpatyasamhṛṣṭāstāṃpurīṃdadṛśustadā |

Translation

ततः then, ते you, सर्वे all, वानराः Vanara, सविभीषणाः Vibheeshana also, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, सम्हृष्टाः delightful, तदा then, उत्पत्योत्पत्य got up, तांपुरीम् that city, ददृशुः saw

Meaning

Then all the Vanaras, Vibheeshana too and Rakshasas got up and saw the delightful city.
