KK-65-1-2Kishkindha Kanda 65.1–2 (युग्मम्)

अथाङ्गदवचश्श्रुत्वा ते सर्वे वानरर्षभाः। स्वं स्वं गतौ समुत्साहमूचुस्तत्र यथाक्रमम्।।4.65.1।। गजो गवाक्षो गवयश्शरभो गन्धमादनः। मैन्दश्च द्विविदश्चैव सुषेणो जाम्बवां स्तथा।।4.65.2।।

athāṅgadavacaśśrutvā te sarve vānararṣabhāḥ| svṃ svṃ gatau samutsāhamūcustatra yathākramam||4.65.1|| gajo gavākṣo gavayaśśarabho gandhamādanḥ| maindaśca dvividaścaiva suṣeṇo jāmbavāṃ stathā||4.65.2||

Translation

अथ and then, अङ्गदवचः Angada's words, श्रुत्वा after hearing, गजः Gaja, गवाक्षः Gavaksha, गवयः Gavaya, शरभः Sarabha, गन्धमादनः Gandhamadana, मैन्दश्च Mainda, द्विविदश्चैव even Dvivida, सुषेणः Sushena, तथा so also, जाम्बवान् Jambavan, सर्वे all, ते them, वानरर्षभाः bulls among monkeys, यथाक्रमम् following an order, तत्र there, गतौ in turn the scope for, स्वं स्वम् on their own, समुत्साहम् capability (to leap), ऊचुः expressed.

Meaning

Thereafter, on hearing Angada, all the leaders among the monkeys, Gaja, Gavaksha, Gavaya, Sarabha, Gandhamadana, Mainda, Dvivida, Sushena and Jambavan as well expressed one after the other their capability for leaping.

KK-65-3Kishkindha Kanda 65.3

आबभाषे गजस्तत्र प्लवेयं दशयोजनम्। गवाक्षो योजननान्याह गमिष्यामीति विंशतिम्।।4.65.3।।

ābabhāṣe gajastatra plaveyṃ daśayojanam| gavākṣo yojananānyāha gamiṣyāmīti viṃśatim||4.65.3||

Translation

तत्र after that, गजः Gaja, दशयोजनम् ten yojanas, प्लवेयम् I can leap, आबभाषे said, गवाक्षः Gavaksha, विंशतिम् twenty, योजनानि yojanas, गमिष्यामि I can go, इति thus, आह said.

Meaning

Gaja said he can leap ten yojanas and Gavaksha said he can go upto twenty yojanas.

KK-65-4-9Kishkindha Kanda 65.4–9 (कुलकम्)

गवयो वानरस्तत्र वानरां स्तानुवाच ह। त्रिंशतं तु गमिष्यामि योजनानां प्लवङ्गमाः।।4.65.4।। शरभस्तानुवाचाथ वानरान् वानरर्षभः। चत्वारिंशद्गमिष्यामि योजनानां प्लवङ्गमाः।।4.65.5।। वानरस्तु महातेजा अब्रवीद्गन्धमादनः। योजनानां गमिष्यामि पञ्चाशत्तु न संशयः।।4.65.6।। मैन्दस्तु वानरस्तत्र वानरांस्तानुवाच ह। योजनानां परं षष्टिमहं प्लवितुमुत्सहे।।4.65.7।। ततस्तत्र महातेजा द्विविदः प्रत्यभाषत। गमिष्यामि न सन्देहस्सप्ततिं योजनान्यहम्।।4.65.8।। सुषेणस्तु महातेजा:प्रोक्तवान्हरिसत्तमान्। अशीतिं योजनानां तु प्लवेयं प्लवगेश्वराः।।4.65.9।।

gavayo vānarastatra vānarāṃ stānuvāca ha| triṃśatṃ tu gamiṣyāmi yojanānāṃ plavaṅgamāḥ||4.65.4|| śarabhastānuvācātha vānarān vānararṣabhḥ| catvāriṃśadgamiṣyāmi yojanānāṃ plavaṅgamāḥ||4.65.5|| vānarastu mahātejā abravīdgandhamādanḥ| yojanānāṃ gamiṣyāmi pañcāśattu na sṃśayḥ||4.65.6|| maindastu vānarastatra vānarāṃstānuvāca ha| yojanānāṃ parṃ ṣaṣṭimahṃ plavitumutsahe||4.65.7|| tatastatra mahātejā dvividḥ pratyabhāṣata| gamiṣyāmi na sandehassaptatiṃ yojanānyaham||4.65.8|| suṣeṇastu mahātejā:proktavānharisattamān| aśītiṃ yojanānāṃ tu plaveyṃ plavageśvarāḥ||4.65.9||

Translation

तत्र there, गवयो Gava, वानरः monkeys, तान् वानरान् the monkeys, उवाच ह said like that, प्लवङ्गमाः O leaping monkeys, योजनानाम् yojanas, त्रिंशतम् thirty, गमिष्यामि I can reach, तत्र there, शरभः Sarabha, वानरर्षभ great monkey, तान् वानरान् those monkeys, उवाच ह said, योजनानाम् yojanas, चत्वारिंशत् forty, गमिष्यामि can reach, संशयः doubt, न without, महातेजाः bright, गन्धमादनः Ghandamadana, वानरान् monkeys, अब्रवीत् said, योजनानाम् yojanas, पञ्चाशत् fifty, गमिष्यामि I can go, संशयः doubt, न no, तत्र there, मैन्दः Mainda, वानरस्तु to the monkeys, तान् वानरान् those monkeys, उवाच ह said, अहम् I, योजनानाम् of yojanas, षष्टिं परम् more than sixty, प्लवितुम् to leap, उत्सहे I am enthusiastic, ततः then, महातेजाः highly brilliant, द्विविदः Dvivida, तत्र there, प्रत्यभाषत in turn spoke, अहम् I, सप्तति: seventy, योजनानि yojanas, गमिष्यामि I can go, सन्देहः doubt, न not, महातेजाः brilliant, सत्त्ववान् strong, सुषेणः Sushena, कपिसत्तमः best among the monkeys, अहम् I, पराक्रमे capability, योजनानाम् of yojanas, अशीतिम् eighty, प्लवेयं I can leap.

Meaning

Then Gavaya said to the monkeys 'I can leap thirty yojanas Sarabha said 'I can leap forty yojanas' bright Ghandhamadana said 'I can leap as far as fifty yojanas without any doubt' Mainda said 'I can leap more than sixty yojanas' highly brilliant Dvivida said in turn, 'I can no doubt leap seventy yojanas ' brilliant and best of the monkeys Sushena declared 'I can leap across eighty yojanas'.

KK-65-10Kishkindha Kanda 65.10

तेषां कथयतां तत्र सर्वांस्ताननुमान्य च। ततो वृद्धतमस्तेषां जाम्बवान्प्रत्यभाषत।।4.65.10।।

teṣāṃ kathayatāṃ tatra sarvāṃstānanumānya ca| tato vṛddhatamasteṣāṃ jāmbavānpratyabhāṣata||4.65.10||

Translation

ततः then, तेषाम् among them, वृद्धतमः oldest, जाम्बवान् Jambavan, तेषाम् they, तत्र there, कथयताम् (when they were) saying, तान् सर्वान् all the, अनुमान्य inferred, प्रत्यभाषत replied.

Meaning

When the monkeys were talking (of their individual capacity) in that manner about their speed, Jambavan the oldest of the monkeys inferred (their capacity) and said:

पूर्वमस्माकमप्यासीत्कश्चिद्गतिपराक्रमः। ते वयं वयसः पारमनुप्राप्तास्स्म साम्प्रतम्।।4.65.11।।

pūrvamasmākamapyāsītkaścidgatiparākramḥ| te vayṃ vayasḥ pāramanuprāptāssma sāmpratam||4.65.11||

Translation

पूर्वम् earlier, अस्माकमपि even I also, कश्चित् some, गतिपराक्रमः very courageous, आसीत् had , ते वयम् for me, साम्प्रतम् attained, वयसः (old) age, पारम् fag end of life, अनुप्राप्ताः स्म have reached.

Meaning

'Earlier I was also very courageous, but now I have become old and reached the fag end of life.

KK-65-12Kishkindha Kanda 65.12

किन्तु नैवं गते शक्यमिदं कार्यमुपेक्षितुम्। यदर्थं कपिराजश्च रामश्च कृतनिश्चयौ।।4.65.12।।

kintu naivṃ gate śakyamidṃ kāryamupekṣitum| yadarthṃ kapirājaśca rāmaśca kṛtaniścayau||4.65.12||

Translation

किं तु however, एवं गते in this situation, यदर्थम् order, कपिराजश्च monkey king's, रामश्च and Rama's, कृतनिश्चयौ are determined, इदम् this, कार्यम् task, उपेक्षितुम् to neglect, न शक्यम् not possible.

Meaning

'However in this situation, it is not possible for us to neglect (our task) as it is the order of the monkeyking and Rama who are determined to achieve the objective.

KK-65-13Kishkindha Kanda 65.13

साम्प्रतं कालभेदेन या गतिस्तां निबोधत। नवतिं योजनानां तु गमिष्यामि न संशयः।।4.65.13।।

sāmpratṃ kālabhedena yā gatistāṃ nibodhata| navatiṃ yojanānāṃ tu gamiṣyāmi na sṃśayḥ||4.65.13||

Translation

साम्प्रतम् at this age, कालभेदेन due to advancement of age, या that, गतिः movement, ताम् that, निबोधत you know, योजनानाम् of yojanas, नवतिम् ninety,गमिष्यामि I can leap, संशयः doubt, न not.

KK-65-14Kishkindha Kanda 65.14

तांश्च सर्वान्हरिश्रेष्ठाञ्जाम्बवान्पुनरब्रवीत्। न खल्वेतावदेवासीद्गमने मे पराक्रमः।।4.65.14।।

tāṃśca sarvānhariśreṣṭhāñjāmbavānpunarabravīt| na khalvetāvadevāsīdgamane me parākramḥ||4.65.14||

Translation

सर्वान् all, तान् of the monkeys, हरिश्रेष्ठान् distinguished among the monkeys, जाम्बवान् Jambavan, पुनः again, अब्रवीत् said, मे my, गमने in leaping, पराक्रमः valour, एतावदेव only that much, न आसीत् खलु was not.

Meaning

Jambavan, the distinguished among the monkeys again said, 'My strength to leap into the sky was not only that much (I was stronger in my youth and could cover longer distances)'

KK-65-15Kishkindha Kanda 65.15

मया महाबलेश्चैव यज्ञे विष्णुस्सनातनः। प्रदक्षिणीकृतः पूर्वं क्रममाणस्त्रिविक्रमम्।।4.65.15।।

mayā mahābaleścaiva yajñe viṣṇussanātanḥ| pradakṣiṇīkṛtḥ pūrvṃ kramamāṇastrivikramam||4.65.15||

Translation

मया by myself, पूर्वम् earlier, महाबलेश्चैव of Mahabali, यज्ञे in yagna, क्रममाणः the advancing Lord, विष्णुः Visnu, सनातनः eternal, त्रिविक्रमः Visnu of three strides, प्रदक्षिणीकृतः circumambulated.

Meaning

'In the past, at the time of the wellknown yagna (of king Bali) I was very strong. I circumambulated the eternal Vishnu while he was taking three strides (in his incarnation of Trivikrama Vamana.)

KK-65-16Kishkindha Kanda 65.16

स इदानीमहं वृद्धः प्लवने मन्दविक्रमः। यौवने च तदाऽसीन्मे बलमप्रतिमं परैः।।4.65.16।।

sa idānīmahṃ vṛddhḥ plavane mandavikramḥ| yauvane ca tadā'sīnme balamapratimṃ paraiḥ||4.65.16||

Translation

इदानीम् now, वृद्धः old, सः अहम् that I am, प्लवने to leap, मन्दविक्रमः my strength is denuded, तदा then, यौवने in youth, मे बलम् my prowess, अप्रतिमम् incomparable, परैः by others, आसीत् it was.

Meaning

'Having grown old I do not have the same courage. In my youth my prowess was incomparable and none could excel me.

KK-65-17Kishkindha Kanda 65.17

सम्प्रत्येतावतीं शक्तिं गमने तर्कयाम्यहम्। नैतावता हि संसिद्धिः कार्यस्यास्य भविष्यति।।4.65.17।।

sampratyetāvatīṃ śaktiṃ gamane tarkayāmyaham| naitāvatā hi sṃsiddhiḥ kāryasyāsya bhaviṣyati||4.65.17||

Translation

सम्प्रति at this time, अहम् I have, शक्तिं capacity, गमने to fly, तर्कयामि I guess, एतावतीं that much, शक्यम् possible, एतावता to this extent, अस्य of this, कार्यस्य of the objective, संसिद्धिः success, न भविष्यति will not be.

Meaning

'I guess that at this time I do not have the capacity to fly to that extent. Achieving the objective is out of question with this much of energy.

KK-65-18Kishkindha Kanda 65.18

अथोत्तरमुदारार्थमब्रवीदङ्गदस्तदा। अनुमान्य तथा प्राज्ञो जाम्बवन्तं महाकपिम्।।4.65.18।।

athottaramudārārthamabravīdaṅgadastadā| anumānya tathā prājño jāmbavantṃ mahākapim||4.65.18||

Translation

अथ and now, तदा then, प्राज्ञः wise, अङ्गदः Angada, महाकपिम् great monkey, जाम्बवन्तम् Jambavan, अनुमान्य doubting, उदारार्थम् in a gentle manner, उत्तरम् reply, तदा then, अब्रवीत् said.

Meaning

'Then the wise Angada said to great Jambavan, in a gentle manner about his own strength.

KK-65-19Kishkindha Kanda 65.19

अहमेतद्गमिष्यामि योजनानां शतं महत्। निवर्तने तु मे शक्तिस्स्यान्न वेति न निश्चितम्।।4.65.19।।

ahametadgamiṣyāmi yojanānāṃ śatṃ mahat| nivartane tu me śaktissyānna veti na niścitam||4.65.19||

Translation

अहम् I, महत् great, एतत् this, योजनानाम् of yojanas, शतम् hundred, गमिष्यामि I can go, निवर्तने to return, मे my, शक्तिः capacity, स्यात् may be, न वा or not, इति thus, निश्चितम् certainly, न not known.

Meaning

'I can certainly go to a distance of a hundred yojanas. However, I cannot say whether I will have enough capacity to return?

KK-65-20Kishkindha Kanda 65.20

तमुवाच हरिश्रेष्ठं जाम्बवान्वाक्यकोविदः। ज्ञायते गमने शक्तिस्तव हर्यृक्षसत्तम।।4.65.20।।

tamuvāca hariśreṣṭhṃ jāmbavānvākyakovidḥ| jñāyate gamane śaktistava haryṛkṣasattama||4.65.20||

Translation

वाक्यकोविदः skilful at speech, जाम्बवान् Jambavan, तम् him, हरिश्रेष्ठम् best of monkeys, उवाच said, हर्यृक्षसत्तम best among bears and monkeys, गमने I am going to fly, तव your, शक्तिः energy, ज्ञायते is known.

Meaning

Jambavan who was skilful in speech spoke to that great Angada, 'O leader among monkeys and bears your energy to cover this distance is wellknown to us'.

KK-65-21Kishkindha Kanda 65.21

कामं शतं सहस्रं वा न ह्येष विधिरुच्यते। योजनानां भवान् शक्तो गन्तुं प्रतिनिवर्तितुम्।।4.65.21।।

kāmṃ śatṃ sahasrṃ vā na hyeṣa vidhirucyate| yojanānāṃ bhavān śakto gantuṃ pratinivartitum||4.65.21||

Translation

भवान् you, योजनानाम् of yojanas, शतं सहस्रं वा even a hundred or a thousand, गन्तुम् to go, प्रतिनिवर्तितुम् but to return, शक्तः कामम् you have the required energy, एषः this, विधिः duty, उच्यते हि not proper.

Meaning

'You can go upto even a hundred thousand yojanas and have the required energy to return also. But it is not proper to send you (because you are the heir apparent).

KK-65-22Kishkindha Kanda 65.22

न हि प्रेषयिता तात स्वामी प्रेष्यः कथञ्चन। भवताऽयं जनस्सर्वः प्रेष्यः प्लवगसत्तम।।4.65.22।।

na hi preṣayitā tāta svāmī preṣyḥ kathañcana| bhavatā'yṃ janassarvḥ preṣyḥ plavagasattama||4.65.22||

Translation

तात dear , प्रेषयिता who orders, स्वामी lord, कथञ्चन in any way, प्रेष्यः a servant who is sent, न हि indeed, प्लवगसत्तम best of monkeys, सर्वः all, अयं जनः this group, भवता by you, प्रेष्यः to be sent.

KK-65-23Kishkindha Kanda 65.23

भवान्कळत्रमस्माकं स्वामिभावे व्यवस्थितः। स्वामी कळत्रं सैन्यस्य गतिरेषा परन्तप।।4.65.23।।

bhavānkaळtramasmākṃ svāmibhāve vyavasthitḥ| svāmī kaळtrṃ sainyasya gatireṣā parantapa||4.65.23||

Translation

परन्तप O scorcher of enemies, स्वामिभावे in a state of commander, व्यवस्थितः you are established, भवान् you, अस्माकम् for us, कलत्रम् wife, स्वामी lord, सैन्यस्य army's, कलत्रम् wife, एषा so that, गतिः proper.

Meaning

'O scorcher of enemies, you are established as the commander of the army and it is proper for us to protect you as we protect our wives.

KK-65-24Kishkindha Kanda 65.24

अपि चैतस्य कार्यस्य भवान्मूलमरिन्दम। तस्मात्कळत्रवत्तात प्रतिपाल्यस्सदा भवान्।।4.65.24।।

api caitasya kāryasya bhavānmūlamarindama| tasmātkaळtravattāta pratipālyassadā bhavān||4.65.24||

Translation

तात O dear, अरिन्दम O subduer of enemies, एतस्य of this, कार्यस्य of the task, भवान् you, मूलम् the root, अपि वै and also, तस्मात् therefore, भवान् you, कलत्रवत् like the wife, सदा always, प्रतिपाल्यः should be taken care of.

Meaning

'O subduer of enemies in acomplishing this task you are the root. O dear therefore you should always be taken care of by us just like the wife looked after.

KK-65-25Kishkindha Kanda 65.25

मूलमर्थस्य संरक्ष्यमेष कार्यविदां नयः। मूले सति हि सिद्ध्यन्ति गुणा फलो पुष्पोदयाः।।4.65.25।।

mūlamarthasya sṃrakṣyameṣa kāryavidāṃ nayḥ| mūle sati hi siddhyanti guṇā phalo puṣpodayāḥ||4.65.25||

Translation

अर्थस्य the objective, मूलम् root, संरक्ष्यम् should be protected, एषः this कार्यविदाम् of the accomplishers, नयः policy, मूले when root, सति when it is intact, फलो पुष्पोदयाः bearing flowers and fruits, गुणाः qualities, सिद्ध्यन्ति हि will result.

Meaning

'The root of any objective should be protected well. This is the basis of an accomplisher. Only when the roots are intact, the trees have the ability to yield flowers and fruits.

KK-65-26Kishkindha Kanda 65.26

तद्भवानस्य कार्यस्य साधने सत्यविक्रम। बुद्धिविक्रमसम्पन्नो हेतुरत्र परन्तप।।4.65.26।।

tadbhavānasya kāryasya sādhane satyavikrama| buddhivikramasampanno heturatra parantapa||4.65.26||

Translation

सत्यविक्रम truely courageous one, तत् that, भवान् you, अस्य कार्यस्य of this task, साधने in achieving, परन्तप O subduer of enemies, अत्र there, बुद्धिविक्रमसम्पन्नः endowed with wisdom and valour, हेतुः you are the cause.

Meaning

'O warrior of proven valour O subduer of enemies in achieving this objective you are the source, being endowed with valour and wisdom.

KK-65-27Kishkindha Kanda 65.27

गुरुश्च गुरुपुत्रश्च त्वं हि नः कपिसत्तम। भवन्तमाश्रित्य वयं समर्था ह्यर्थसाधने।।4.65.27।।

guruśca guruputraśca tvṃ hi nḥ kapisattama| bhavantamāśritya vayṃ samarthā hyarthasādhane||4.65.27||

Translation

कपिसत्तम O best of monkeys, नः for us, गुरुपुत्रः son of our teacher, त्वम् you are, गुरुश्च and also a respectable guide, वयम् we, भवन्तम् you, आश्रित्य under your care, अर्थसाधने in accomplishing our objective, समर्थाः हि are capable also.

Meaning

'O best of monkeys you are the son of my guide (Vali) and respectable. We will be capable of accomplishing the goal only under your protection and guidance.

KK-65-28Kishkindha Kanda 65.28

उक्तवाक्यं महाप्राज्ञं जाम्बवन्तं महाकपिः। प्रत्युवाचोत्तरं वाक्यं वालिसूनुरथाङ्गदः।।4.65.28।।

uktavākyṃ mahāprājñṃ jāmbavantṃ mahākapiḥ| pratyuvācottarṃ vākyṃ vālisūnurathāṅgadḥ||4.65.28||

Translation

अथ now, महाकपिः great monkey, वालिसूनुः Vali's son, अङ्गदः Angada, उक्तवाक्यम् having said that, महाप्राज्ञम् very wise, जाम्बवन्तम् Jambavan, उत्तरं वाक्यम् in reply, प्रत्युवाच said.

Meaning

Jambavan, the wise monkey having said that, Angada, the great son of Vali, replied:

KK-65-29Kishkindha Kanda 65.29

यदि नाहं गमिष्यामि नान्यो वानरपुङ्गवः। पुनः खल्विदमस्माभिः कार्यं प्रायोपवेशनम्।।4.65.29।।

yadi nāhṃ gamiṣyāmi nānyo vānarapuṅgavḥ| punḥ khalvidamasmābhiḥ kāryṃ prāyopaveśanam||4.65.29||

Translation

अहम् I am, न गमिष्यामि यदि if I will not go, अन्यः other, वानरपुङ्गवः monkey leader, न not, अस्माभिः by us, पुनः again, इदम् this, प्रायोपवेशनम् fasting to death, कार्यं खलु have to do.

Meaning

'If I do not go and no other monkey leader goes, then we have to resort to fasting unto death once again.

KK-65-30Kishkindha Kanda 65.30

न ह्यकृत्वा हरिपतेस्सन्देशं तस्य धीमतः। तत्रापि गत्वा प्राणानां पश्यामि परिरक्षणम्।।4.65.30।।

na hyakṛtvā haripatessandeśṃ tasya dhīmatḥ| tatrāpi gatvā prāṇānāṃ paśyāmi parirakṣaṇam||4.65.30||

Translation

धीमतः of the wise, तस्य हरिपतेः of the lord of monkeys, सन्देशम् message, अकृत्वा by not fulfilling, तत्र there, गत्वापि even after going, प्राणानाम् of life, परिरक्षणम् protection, न पश्यामि I do not see.

Meaning

'If I do not fulfil the objective of the wise king of monkeys I cannot save my life even after returning there (Kishkinda).

KK-65-31Kishkindha Kanda 65.31

स हि प्रसादे चात्यर्थं कोपे च हरिरीश्वरः। अतीत्य तस्य सन्देशं विनाशो गमने भवेत्।।4.65.31।।

sa hi prasāde cātyarthṃ kope ca harirīśvarḥ| atītya tasya sandeśṃ vināśo gamane bhavet||4.65.31||

Translation

सः he, हरिः monkey king, प्रसादे च in showering grace, कोपे च and vent anger, अत्यर्थम् highly, ईश्वरः all powerful, तस्य his, सन्देशम् instruction, अतीत्य in not fulfilling the task, गमने in going, विनाशः total destruction, भवेत् will be.

Meaning

'The monkey king has the authority to shower grace or give vent to his anger. If we go without fulfilling the task we will face destruction.

KK-65-32Kishkindha Kanda 65.32

तद्यथा ह्यस्य कार्यस्य न भवत्यन्यथा गतिः। तद्भवानेव दृष्टार्थस्सञ्चिन्तयितु मर्हति।।4.65.32।।

tadyathā hyasya kāryasya na bhavatyanyathā gatiḥ| tadbhavāneva dṛṣṭārthassañcintayitu marhati||4.65.32||

Translation

तत् तथाहि therefore, अस्य of this, कार्यस्य of the task, गतिः advancement, अन्यथा otherwise, न भवति will not be, तत् that, दृष्टार्थः well aware, भवानेव you alone, सञ्चिन्तयितुम् to think over well, अर्हति you should.

Meaning

'Therefore, think over well so that we do not fail ultimately. You have a vision.You should suggest means by which this mission does not misfire.'

KK-65-33Kishkindha Kanda 65.33

सोऽङ्गदेन तदा वीरः प्रत्युक्तः प्लवगर्षभः। जाम्बवानुत्तरं वाक्यं प्रोवाचेदं ततोऽङ्गदम्।।4.65.33।।

so'ṅgadena tadā vīrḥ pratyuktḥ plavagarṣabhḥ| jāmbavānuttarṃ vākyṃ provācedṃ tato'ṅgadam||4.65.33||

Translation

अङ्गदेन by Angada, तदा then, प्रत्युक्तः having been addressed, वीरः hero, प्लवगर्षभः bull among monkeys, सः जाम्बवान् that Jambavan, ततः then, अङ्गदम् to Angada, उत्तरम् reply, इदं वाक्यम् in these words, प्रोवाच said.

Meaning

On listening to Angada's words, Jambavan, the bull among monkeys, replied this way:

अस्य ते वीर कार्यस्य न किञ्चित्परिहीयते। एष सञ्चोदयाम्येनं यः कार्यं साधयिष्यति।।4.65.34।।

asya te vīra kāryasya na kiñcitparihīyate| eṣa sañcodayāmyenṃ yḥ kāryṃ sādhayiṣyati||4.65.34||

Translation

वीर O hero, ते your, तस्य कार्यस्य of this task, किञ्चित् even a little, न परिहीयते nothing is balked, एषः here I am, कार्यम् task, यः who, साधयिष्यति who can achieve, सञ्चोदयामि एनम् I will inspire him.

Meaning

'O hero this work will not be balked. I will now inspire one who can achieve this task.'
